The three of them are sitting at the beach, holding a can of beer. They were quiet for some time, just staring at the sky, counting stars and whatnot.
A few moments have passed by, Isabel let out a sigh.
"Do you ever think of what will happen around this time next year?" Isabel stared at the sky, thinking, will she still be here next year? Will she look at the same sky, sitting on this beach?
"I'll probably not last until the end of the year." Sounding bitter, Cindy shoves all the content of the can in her through.
"Let's talk something else. How about first kisses?" Amy which is in the middle, looked at Cindy and Isabel, looking excited.
"Okay, why do you tell us about your first kiss?" Cindy said, half grinning, obviously still sad about dying.
"Me? I don't have any." It's Amies turn to look sad.
"Seriously?" Cindy looked at Amie like she's the kind of girl that is a go-getter.
"Okay, I'm good. Let's start with Cindy." She tried to hold her laugh, Isabel taps Cindy's shoulders.
"Well, mine is unceremonious. It was rather sloppy and nothing magical." Looking disappointed, Cindy shrugged her shoulders.
"huh?! Isabel, please do not disappoint me." Amy's reaction to Cindy's confession is stoic but looked hopeful towards Isabel.
"Mine was magical. It swept me off my feet." Both girls focus their attention on Isabel.
"But as magical as it is, it broke me down like a curse." The vision of Phillip and Natalie's naked body having their magical moment.
She scanned her feelings, surprisingly she felt disgusted rather than pain. She ended up narrating how Phillip cheated on her.
"You must have been hurt badly!" Judging from Amie's appearance, she is deeply moved by what Isabel confessed.
"I was. I even fainted can you believe it?" She said initiating a laugh.
"I might have died if it were, me" Amy said and gave her a hug.
"Aww." Touched, Cindy joins in the hugging party.
She ended up telling the whole story of how she met and broke up with Phillip.
"You did what?!" Cindy said it few seconds late after Amy.
"You've heard it right, I kicked his crotch." Isabel nodded her head, and then she raised her foot reenacting her kick.
The girl's laughter is echoing all over the beach area, the sea breeze is carrying it in some parts of the Grove too.
"Here's to kicking asses." Cindy offered a toast.
They stayed until dawn and talk of about everything that happened in their lives before they met.
"You mean your parents were also employees of the Grove?" Isabel asks probing questions with Amy. She finds it interesting to find someone that is a second-generation employee.
"Yep, I was born and raised here, but I was sent to UCLA to study medicine." She gave them a shy smile, an attempt to stay humble of her profession at a young age.
She tells them how strict her parents are, but she understands that all of this is for the Grove's advocacy.
"I'm doing this for a greater purpose," Amy said almost naively.
Isabel believed that Amy has a pure heart.
"Whish I still have time to finish college." Cindy burst out crying.
Both Isabel Amy can't stop being sad too.
"No one has ever been strict with me before, my Dad left when I was five and my Mom remarried and left me with my grandma." Cindy is talking in between sobs.
"Oh sweety, I'm sorry." Amy holds Cindy's hand.
They're like a walking hormonal imbalance, mood swings spree much.
"If you can just sign up for the experimental treatment, I will do what I can to help." Amy holds both Isabel and Cindy's hands tightly.
They all nodded their heads and then they all laugh again.
"Too bad we ran out of beer." Wiping her tears, Cindy raises the empty can of beer.
"No-no! if we're to cure ourselves, no more of these." Amy took the cans of beers in their hands.
"Well, we kinda need it for being cheesy tonight okay?" Cindy Justified her need for the beer.
"Promise you both no more liquor, especially you Isabel, you have drinking splurge requests," Amy warned her.
She gave Amy a wide grin and hugged her.
"Can we have at least a glass of something to toast this new goal?" She suggested to the other girls.
"Okay." They both nodded.
Isabel ran to her house and took out some sparkling water, when she's back she distributed each bottle to the girls.
"This is to never give up on life!" Amy raised her glass.
Both girls raised their glasses.
"Here's to putting an extension to my life!" Cindy cried out loud.
"Here's to getting laid!" Cindy and Amie looked at her oddly. Both were puzzled at what she just said. Their brows are furrowed but they still give her a toast.
"But seriously though, what do you guys want to do when you survive your diseases?" For the first time since they've been together, Amy acted as their physician.
"I wanted to stay in Borres to plant more trees," She said matter of factly. But Cindy and Amy burst out laughing.
"Really you wanted to be like a hermit?" Amy looked like she can't believe Isabel can think of something like that.
"No I'm serious, I want to stay and help save the earth, or at least Borres, I want to teach children how to reduce one's carbon footprint." When she said this, it's the time both girls knew she is serious, and they respected her for that.
"That's a wonderful advocacy, I admire you for that, how about you Cindy?" Amy has now focused her attention on Cindy.
"Me, I wanted to take care of myself, make sure I will never going through this again, so I'm going to pursue medicine." She gave both Isabel and Amy a hopeful smile.
"Okay, let's now go to sleep, wake up early so we can start the program." Amy stood up and pulled both Cindy and Isabel's hands.
"But what about my wish list?" Cindy looks so worried.
"Don't worry it's still ongoing, but we need to adjust your schedules okay?" Amy places her hands around Cindy and Isabel's shoulders.
