Chapter 11 - Altar Gate

Gaine and Kenley try to help Eldred with their fighting abilities. Judging from her appearance, the girl from the Glinth tribe already looked like she had a special talent for using the small dagger that she always used. Maybe she was a fighting girl in her tribal territory.

The three of them continued to corner Clevan, but the Elfair managed to dodge him. Although Eldred managed to launch his arrows as fast as possible. The sword in Clevan's hand continued to emit a green aura. Even earlier, the sword did seem to have a striking aura when it was about to fight, but when it was fighting it felt like it was possessed by something.

Uncle Fronsh looked up at the sky as the gray clouds stopped covering the sky. He remembered the explanation about Moon Lake earlier, as soon as he realized that the Moon was almost directly above their heads. "The moon!" said uncle Fronsh raising his voice. Kenley lifted his head up when he heard what Uncle Fronsh had just said.

But Vhipotus confused his gaze. The black bird attacked Kenley with its claws. The man couldn't dodge such a shocking attack. Vhipotus' claws hit one hand that was holding Slikers. Finally the gun fell to the ground.

"Shit!" Kenley snorted in annoyance. Then he immediately lowered his body to look for his Slikers, but darkness snatched his sight.

The bird continued to attack him time and time again without giving him a break. Kenley had to endure the pain in his hands and body from Clevan's claws. His hopes of finding his Slikers again were dashed.

He fell to the ground because he could no longer dodge the increasingly aggressive Bird's attack. Then suddenly a bow shot shot in front of him, pierced Vhipotus' body which was then stuck in the tree trunk. The bird repeatedly made loud noises until it finally died.

Eldred did that. Now Kenley can focus on finding his lost firearm that fell to the ground. But Uncle Fronsh immediately ran to Kenley to help him light up among the weeds.

It didn't take long for the gun to be found. "You damn Eldred!" Clevan shouted because he realized that his bird died because Eldred killed him.

Clevan swung his greatsword at Eldred, hoping that he would kill Elfair soon. It seemed his fighting ability was beyond his limits. Clevan was getting angry. "Lord Hardikha shouldn't have sent you, you damn Elf!" said Clevan.

"Because Lord Hardikha trusts an ordinary Elfair like me more than you. You are a selfish Elfair, Clevan! You only want to satisfy your own desires. You don't care about the fate of others, especially your own nation! You should be the one who shouldn't be here." Eldred vented the frustration he had been harboring against Elfair who was fighting with him.

Clevan paused for a moment. "Because I hate Elfair archers like you. I should have gotten Lord Hardikha's heirloom Sword, not you! But you were also Elfair who was very easy to deceive back then. Hahaha! How? You must think that I really stole this sword? You're just a stupid archer in Elfair's territory." he said.

Eldred froze. His hand gripped the bow tightly in his hand. It was as if his anger was about to explode. This time he couldn't hold it in anymore. "Shut up!" suddenly Kenley aimed his Slikers and successfully hit one of Clevan's eyes.

The Elfair endured the pain in her left eye. Eldred was surprised. But not for Kenley. Clevan dropped his sword to the ground as he could only focus on the excruciating pain in his eyes.

Then Eldred showered him with several arrows that shot towards him. As a result, the arrow managed to penetrate Clevan's body. Clevan fell to the ground helplessly. Kenley stomped on one hand as he saw Clevan trying to pull his leg. Kenley looked at Clevan's resigned face with a triumphant lopsided smile.

"Looks like we have to get this over with" Kenley said to Eldred. Eldred nodded then picked up the sword that had fallen to the ground. Ironically after Clevan dropped his sword, it stopped emitting its light like before. But as soon as Eldred took hold of it, the light appeared again.

He gripped the sword tightly. "Kill this Elfair" Kenley ordered as if re-entering his Slikers. Eldred had doubts about what he would do. In his heart, he couldn't kill someone with his two hands. Moreover, that person has the blood of Elfair descent.

But on the other hand he remembers that the future of the fairy nation is in his hands. He closed his eyes for a moment to muster the last of his courage. "Clevan" Eldred breathed heavily. The Elfair he called couldn't answer because the red liquid seemed to just come out of his mouth. Eldred didn't really have the heart. But Clevan's words just made his feelings feel crushed.

"I respect what you say to me about me, but I'm sure we have the same feelings. So please respect what my decision will be now." said Eldred, holding the sword high. The sword is now emitting even more aura.

Eldred stabbed the sword right into Clevan's heart which put Elfair at the exact point of his death. Uncle Fronsh, Gaine, even Kenley had to close their eyes because they couldn't bear to see the terrible scene in front of him.

Now Eldred looked at Clevan's corpse with a cold gaze. He almost wanted to throw up because Clevan's blood splashed on his clothes. He had lost consciousness and killed his own countrymen. He let his bow fall to the ground as his hands trembled. His legs went limp. He didn't think it would turn out like this on his journey. KILL IS A SERIOUS SIN IN THE ELFAIR AREA.

Elafair's face looked pale as he remembered a word that the Elders in Fcycila palace always used. What if one day when he returns there, he will surely get cruel punishment from the Elders. Lord Hardikha gave him trust, but he broke it instead.

Kenley walked towards Elfair who was still staring at the black-haired Elfair's corpse. "You're not wrong, Eldred. I'm sure the Elders of the Elfair nation will definitely believe in your honesty and forgive you immediately. Let me be the witness later if you are judged there." Kenley brightened Eldred's previously dark heart. Calming the Elfair so as not to fall into the regret he did.

If Clevan hadn't provoked him by saying words that made Eldred's emotions explode, this wouldn't have happened.

"You better hurry, you just open the book. If there's anything convincing, you tell us. So we can get the crystal piece as soon as possible." Kenley continued. Eldred put on a meaningless smile. He wanted so badly to say thank you or I'm fine to Gunman Slikers. But it was as if his jaw kept clenching tightly at the loss of those words.

They went to Moon Lake to immediately do something that should have been done a long time ago. Eldred then opened the book and looked for the right clue. After he found the contents that explained something in the ancient Elfair language, he then tried to understand every word.

"I found it!" He said then. The three of them approached. "There is a special spell to open the gate of this altar, the altar of the moon lake." Obviously.

"Better hurry if it's true. Because the moon is already above us." said Uncle Fronch, who had wanted to tell him about it. Eldred nodded in understanding. He also mentioned a spell that he had found.

"MURT CVAIN KOORTYHA GUYN!" He said after reciting the spell in the book. Eldred combined his powers while repeating the spell to get it to work immediately. But not long after that, the ground they were standing on shook violently. The lake water churned, then emitted a light like the moonlight in the sky brightly. Now the moonlight and the light from the lake merged, as if the moon seemed to fall into the lake.

Such a sight made them crouch down while narrowing their eyes, because the light in front of him was really very bright.

The stars accompany the soft light. At that time the sky was filled with thousands of stars that adorned the dark night sky. Looks very beautiful even if only for a moment. And in an instant, things were back to normal. Until finally a wall of the same color emerged from the bottom of the Moon Lake.

The light is not as bright as before, but it still looks beautiful. They really couldn't believe it was going to happen. The 'Crytilops Crystal Piece' is there. The lake evaporated into the sky splitting and forming a wall of water, indicating that the Altar Gate was open. Eldred walked through the gate.

Unexpectedly about the location of the pieces of the familiar legendary object he had known all his life, he had now seen it with his own two eyes. The rocks that Eldred stepped on after passing through the altar gate felt damp and cold. He looked for the Crystal piece but couldn't find it. But at the end of the road he was walking, he saw an object shining like moonlight, floating in the air. Which was decorated with bubbles that looked like the throne of that thing.

In his heart, it must be the crystal piece he was looking for. Eldred hurried over to the object to grab it and quickly exited the altar gate. He looked at the shape of the object in amazement. It had a brighter glow than the thousands of sapphires he had often encountered in the Gawhead mountains.

He took the moonlight-like object and put it in his knitting bag while he was practicing his archery. The bubble burst and then caused a tremor from the ground. He felt that the water of the split lake was about to close. He immediately rushed out of there, otherwise the water would swallow him alive.

Despite constantly losing his balance while running out of the gate, Eldred kept trying even though he almost fell over due to the slippery. He looked back. The water had swallowed some of the rocks he stepped on. There was no more time for him.

He looked at the altar gate which was also really close to closing. So close enough to get there, without even thinking Eldred jumped out before even a second if he failed, the Moon Lake actually turned back into the ordinary Lake like before.

The three of them looked at Eldred with worried faces, but what they were worried about was wearing big smiles. "Eldred?" said Kenley hoping that Eldred managed to get hold of it. "I can." said Eldred while pointing out an object that looked almost like a stone relic. Kenley's face brightened.

"You did it! Hahaha!" he said then patted Eldred's shoulder.

"So you guys went all the way just looking for a rock like this?" Gaine said. They both almost nodded at the same time. Because that's their goal. Gaine still looked confused because to him the stone was like an ordinary stone. "All right, then we must hurry home," said Uncle Fronsh who had been holding the oil lamp.

Gaine nodded in agreement. "Besides it's starting to feel very cold" She said as he hugged his body. After that they walked back to Uncle Fronsh's house in the Glint tribe's settlement which was quite far from there. Once there, it was very quiet in the middle of the night. They walked through the back of his house as they did on the way to Moon Lake earlier. Walked through the cornfields until finally arriving at the warm little thatched house, where Uncle Fronsh's residence stood. Gaine was so tired that she went straight to her room to rest.

"You don't mind sleeping in the barn? We don't have enough space," said Uncle Fronsh in a slightly regretful tone.

"It's okay uncle, thank you very much." said Eldred. "Okay then, uncle's warehouse is not far, just a few steps from the side of uncle's house." Uncle Fronsh gave a hint by pointing his index finger towards where he intended.

Kenley nodded in understanding. Uncle Fronsh rushed into his house. "Well, we should also get some rest to head to Brandish early in the morning." said Kenley. Eldred agreed. Besides, today was really tiring. Moreover, plus he had to carry a large sword on his back since he got it back from Clevan.

But after that, he recalled the bad event that happened to cross his mind about how he should kill someone from the Elfair nation like him. What if the elders of the Elfair nation punished him if he found out about this incident. "Eldred?" Kenley's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. Eldred rushed to Fronsh's uncle's warehouse because Kenley had rushed there first.

A bright morning from the Glinth settlement, Kenley woke to the sun shining through the thatched walls. He yawned as he stretched his sore muscles. He looked at Eldred, Elfair was still asleep in his sleep. Kenley walked out of the barn into the flowing water not far from Fronsh's uncle's house to wash his face. Kenley walked in half-consciously. This maybe he felt annoying because he had to wake up earlier than the Elfair.

At that place, he saw Gaine. "Kenley? Good morning" Gaine said as soon as he realized Kenley was beside her. Kenley nodded, rubbing his eyes. "Morning" he replied. "Your friend hasn't woken up yet?" Gaine asked. The sound of water flowing calmly, makes anyone who is there also feel calm.

Plus the surface of the water is clear and clean. So it's no wonder for Kenley why the moon lake they visited last night, the water can be so clear like that.

"He's probably feeling really tired" said Kenley, then the Hamoursh Man scooped up the water with both hands, then quickly washed his face. His body trembled slightly as soon as the water landed on his face, and flowed down his neck. The water was cold but refreshing.

"What's the little Bucket for?" Now it was Kenley's turn to ask the brown-haired girl beside him. "To store water for drinking supplies at home. You know? People in this village rely heavily on the waters here for their daily needs." the girl explained. Kenley just nodded then.

As soon as he finished, Gaine was about to head to his house. But Kenley stopped him. "Gaine?" The girl stopped in her tracks and turned to him.

"Can you get Eldred here?" Kenley asked. "Okay" the girl now turned her back to Kenley. As soon as Gaine left, it wasn't long before some Glinth tribesmen came to the place, doing the same thing as what Gaine did. But there are also those who bathe their livestock. There are also those who are cleaning themselves. Kenley wanted to, but he couldn't stand the coldness of the water. After being there for a long time, Someone surprised him while patting his shoulder.

"You cheated!" said the man. Kenley was startled and nearly fell forward. He turned towards the source of the sound. "Eldred?! Damn it, why did you suddenly startle me like this?!" he said a little annoyed because he almost fell into the water. But the Elfair seemed to have an innocent face while laughing.

"Hahaha. You woke up earlier than me, and now you came here without telling me?" said Eldred with a wry smile.

"I asked Gaine to tell you to come here" Kenley watched the water current with a lazy face.

The waters were as they had seen when they had first arrived at the settlement yesterday afternoon. Eldred washed his face using both his veined hands. He almost felt what Kenley felt earlier.

"How can the water here feel so cold?" said Eldred who was now scooping water with his palm for him to drink. It feels so refreshing.

"We must replenish our drinking supplies in these waters." said Eldred who was now even bathing there. Kenley agreed. He went to Uncle Fronsh's house to get his water bag which they kept along with their other belongings there. Eldred cleaned his clothes which had been mixed with dried blood for the whole night. It really disturbed his sense of smell when he slept last night. People around the water noticed his presence, it was a little uncomfortable, but Eldred tried not to care while focusing on cleaning his clothes.

"I brought the replacement clothes that Gaine's mother gave me when I was there earlier." said Kenley as soon as he came back there.

"Okay, just put it there." said Eldred without looking away from the dried bloodstains on his clothes. Meanwhile Kenley replenished their supplies by filling his waterbag with water.

"Why don't you just throw your clothes away?! I already brought a replacement there." Kenley wanted to say 'stupid' to Eldred, but he didn't want to. Considering Eldred's age who was hundreds of times older than him.

Eldred finally gave in and agreed with Kenley's words even though in his heart he wanted to refuse. Because he also didn't want to pollute those waters with his actions. Eldred took the clothes that Kenley had placed near the waters for him to put on. He couldn't stand the cold feeling that continued to pierce his body.

The straw knitted garment Gaine's mother had made, felt very warm once it had clung to her body. Selitas he looks like the other Glinth tribe. He felt comfortable wearing it. Once he had stocked up on his supplies, Kenley also changed into his clothes. After that, they hurried away from the waters, returning to Uncle Gaine's quarters to prepare to leave for Brandish today.
