Chapter 1 - Memories

Kenley lay down on the vast meadow. By enjoying the cool season breeze in the Nylon valley. He looked up at the sky with a lazy face. Very nice green scenery, Nylon Valley is known for having soft grass and also overgrown with some rare flower plants that only live in Nylon Valley.

Nylon Valley itself is located in the territory of the Hamoursh people, precisely near the Teilem mountains, bordered by the Seiry river, which stretches across the Nylon valley. At that time the sky was clear. With the weather being so fine, that was Kenley's chance to laze around today, before he finally got back to work as a robber in Ortania.

The youth closed his eyes as the wind gently blew past his face. He always thought what if Dryzell didn't pick him up and raise his back then? Maybe he would starve to death on the streets. He was always grateful that even though he was like this, he could at least survive this far.

Since he was a baby, it has been said that Kenley was dumped by his parents in front of the Azyrra Church. Until you grow up like now. he didn't recognize faces, not even the names of his parents.

Then he was raised and raised to children by the monks and nuns there. Until finally, the baby was named 'Kenley Rhys'

Since then Kenley has always been taught to be grateful to God, because God gave life. He was a child who grew up in general, it was only natural that he liked to play, even naughty. But the church people never scolded the child, they always gave love to him like a parent.

"Kenley.." it sounded like someone was calling him. "Kenley.. Hey, let's get up." the voice sounded again until it woke him up from the memories of twelve years ago. The boy who was sleeping on the grass of the Nylon valley was awakened by the sound of his peers who woke him up by shaking the boy's left hand. The eleven year old boy who had just drifted off to sleep rubbed his eyes to see who had woken him up.

"Kenley, I'm almost done building the raft! Would you like to see it?!" exclaimed her peer with her back albino hair. "Huh? Kalisha. How many times have I told you. Don't wake me when I'm fast asleep." said the boy as he yawned covering his mouth. "Come on.. It's still noon. Besides, I often see you napping here, don't you have a house?" asked the little girl innocently. "My house is in the church," the boy answered simply.

"Kenley, why don't you just stay with me, at my house. Didn't my mother always offer that to you?" clearly kalisha. With her long albino hair, the little girl was like Elfair as the wind blew mischievously through her hair. She is beautiful and has fair skin, just like her parents.

"I always feel bad for your mother. She is very good to me, that's why I'm embarrassed if I have to stay at your house" replied Kenley while smoothing his hair from the wind.

"Okay, you said you were almost done building the raft? Where?" continued kenley changing the topic. "Oh, come on you have to come with me! We're going to the Seiry river" said Kalisha as she stood up. Kenley was silent and just followed Kalisha from behind until the two of them finally disappeared at the end of the valley in the setting sun.

Those days passed too quickly and until finally the boy grew up to where he is today. However, after Kalisha had made Kenley a toy raft, Kalisha had rarely come to see him in the Nylon Valley. Whereas before that, usually the little girl always came to see Kenley while sometimes bringing him food or just playing with him. He remembered, it seemed like it was the last time Kenley was with Kalisha. Maybe the little girl had moved to another city, grew up in another city and became the beautiful teenage girl she is today.

The day starts in the afternoon. The sky turned into a beautiful orange color with the sun almost setting. The man who has turned twenty-three years old woke up after the tree above him dropped its dry leaves on the ground and was blown away by the twilight wind. "Am I sleeping here?" he said slowly.

His eyes widened when he remembered something. That Dryzell told him to return to the guild before sunset. If he was late and came home late, he couldn't imagine that the man would beat him up. He moved from his place to Ortania. The small town of Ortania, is not too far from the Nylon valley. It takes about an hour to walk to get there.

After successfully speeding up his pace, Kenley arrived at the small town. Lantern lamps are neatly displayed in every small building in the city, indicating that night has come. Residents in the city of Ortania, use oil-fueled lanterns to make lamps as their lighting device.

Kenley immediately headed for his guild which was at the crossroads he stepped on, which was quite close to the spice and fruit seller. He finally arrived at the guild door and caught his breath. Hope there is no scary human figure behind that door.

Finally he got up the courage and got his guess right. The figure of a big man with a scary look had been waiting for him to come home from earlier. With his trademark gaze, he looked at the child. Even though he came home late, he did have a day off today, so it was natural. But the so-called guild rules, still should not be violated.

"I hope you're not deaf to what I'm telling you, are you?" asked Dryzell. Kenley didn't dare look at him. Even to answer, he had to nod his head in response.

"Then why did you come home late?!" Dyzell said raising his voice slightly. That's what made the people in the guild turn their heads towards him. "S..sorry. I fell asleep in Nylon Valley. Because it's my day off, so I..I think this is my time to be lazy" explained Kenley with a downcast face. Suddenly someone came to them.

"I think you should forgive the boy's mistakes" suggested a man who was also Dryzell's first caretaker. In other terms, he was a senior in this guild. Dryzell didn't answer anything, instead he went outside leaving Kenley who was still looking down in fear. After that, Kenley dared to raise his head to look at the figure of the older brother in front of him.

"Horald? Thank you for helping me" said Kenley feeling relieved. "It doesn't matter. Dryzell is just like that. You know what? He does look scary. But sometimes the old man is kind." said Horald the blonde haired man who was very close to Kenley's figure. Even so, sometimes Horald's words were true. Dryzell was like their own real father.

"Okay thanks for just now. I'm going to my room" said Kenley releasing Horald's arms and rushing upstairs. Exactly where the room is. He climbed some stairs made of wood with supports made of strong bamboo sticks.

Kenley shared a room with Edgar. The two had known each other since childhood in this guild, though Kenley was the one Dryzell had picked up before Edgar.

As Kenley entered his room, he caught sight of Edgar sitting at the table reading something by the warm oil lamp. But Kenley ignored it and focused his intention on lying down on his bed made of hay, which was warm yet comfortable.

"Where have you been?" asked Edgar, who did notice his companion's arrival, without turning his face away from the book he was reading. Kenley looked up lazily. "You've been here all day?" Kenley even asked back. "I guess so," replied Edgar. He closed his book and stood up.

"Come on. You have to stop to read first. You know that today we have a day off? You're wasting your free time" said Kenley who then leaned his body against the wall.

"Yes for me this is a precious time" said Edgar as he left the room. "Whatever" Kenley answered shortly.

Instantly the atmosphere became tense. There was only a faint sound on the ground floor, where the guild people gathered every day. This guild was like home to him. Ever since he ran away from the church, his fate has only gotten worse. He ran away from the church on the grounds that he wanted to find his parents.

With this guild kenley knows where to go home and lean on. He knows where to find a solution. At least he knows what family is. And to him, this guild of robbers, Is home to him. Suddenly his hand held his broad chest, touching a cross-shaped necklace that seemed to have been around his neck for a long time. He noticed that the silver object reflected the small light that was emitted from the oil lantern in his room.

It was clear that one of the nuns had given him the silver cross necklace. He hopes that one day when Kenley grows up, he won't be forgotten by the people at the church he used to live in or even to him. Kenley's thoughts stopped as soon as someone opened the door to his room.

"Kenley, Horald sent you to dinner, people are waiting for you in the dining room." said liza. Liza is a female robber whose talent is unquestionable. She is a girl who dares to take risks. She is beautiful and good at cooking. No wonder the people in this guild admire him. Much like Dryzell's nature, this girl also looked a bit indifferent. But his attention, outweighed his indifference.

"Okay, I'll catch up later. You go first." said Kenley, looking at the cross necklace that was a memory to him. The curious Liza approached him. "What is that?" asked the girl, tucking her brown hair behind her earlobe. "It's just a silver cross necklace," said Kenley. "What are gifts from church people?" she asked again. "Yeah you're right, I got this when I was five years old" he explained. "You are lucky to have sweet childhood memories even though you don't know who your parents are," said Liza, feeling jealous.

"You mean?" asked kenley looking at the expression on liza's face which was suddenly not like he usually saw every day. Liza was lost for a moment until kenley interrupted his daydream. "Liza? Are you okay?" Kenley asked touching Liza's small shoulder. The brown haired girl turned her head away.

"Okay, what did I say earlier?!" he said, crossing his arms under his chest. Staring at Kenley's still confused face. "I told you I'd come later." said Kenley as he tucked his crucifix back into his shirt. Liza stepped out of Kenley's room and closed the wooden door. Meanwhile, Edgar, was already downstairs. In the dining room since then.

Before long, Kenley arrived at the small and warm dining room. Because everyone had gathered there. He felt lucky, always felt lucky.

"There he has come! The guild's favorite rancid brat. Hahaha!" said Fyon while holding a glass of sake while patting the dining table.

"Hurry up, eat kid! Before this venison soup is sold out, this kid eats it. Hahaha" Juildith continued ruffling Fyerith's blonde hair. The boy really likes to eat, especially the dishes made by Liza Guild. It just so happened that the girl made delicious venison soup. Which became Fyerith's favourite. Kenley smiled wryly. Seeing the atmosphere of the guild dining room that he saw every day was like this.

"What's waiting for me, huh?" Kenley said quietly to Liza. The girl sat on the chair near Fyon with a crooked smile. Then Kenley rushed to sit between Liza and Edgar.

After finishing dinner, the man returned to his room, he opened the window where he poured all his emotions. Let the night breeze fill the room. Imagining how tired tomorrow he will live as usual. He wanted to visit church. But he was afraid that the people in the church would not recognize him anymore.

"Kenley, you idiot! You really are stupid!" He said in a low voice, cursing himself. "What happened to you?" asked Edgar his roommate who suddenly startled him. Kenley was surprised and turned to the man.

"Edgar?! You damn bastard" said Kenley again facing his gaze out the window. Noticed some of the dimness of the oil lamps hanging from each building.

"Besides, why the hell, every night always daydreaming in front of the window?! You know it yourself, right? The air here at night is very cold." explained the white man, sitting next to kenley.

"Yes, I know." he replied curtly. "What's the matter with you? You can tell me everything." said edgar, holding kenley by the shoulder.

"I'm fine, don't worry." Kenley lied. His gaze still couldn't be taken away from the scenery outside the window which did look cold because the wind always blew at any time. Entering the gap in every house made of rattan and straw. Every now and then he looked at the moon which reflected a beautiful blue light.

"Are you sure?" asked Edgar. Kenley nodded firmly. He just didn't want everyone in the guild, especially his roommate to know all the problems he was facing. Moreover, Kenley's curiosity about his parents, he still keeps until now. He just wanted to keep it to himself. Even though Edgar, Liza or anyone else tried to pressure her to tell her story, Kenley still said that he was fine.

"Edgar?" called kenley without turning around. "Yes?" the man seemed to be ready to sleep in his bed. "Do you know who your parents are?" Kenley asked then turned around, his back to the window that was still open.

"Yes, Dryzell is my parent, our parent." the answer is short. Not a minute later, Edgar had turned his body and fell asleep.

"That's not what I meant." said Kenley. "Edgar?" call him slowly. But the caller was asleep. "Shit!" Kenley clenched his fists excitedly. He exhaled. Close the window and go to sleep.

At midnight, Kenley woke up because something seemed to be heard from the window. The man rubbed his eyes, occasionally looking at Edgar, who slept more soundly than he did. He slowly walked towards the window, then opened the window, the midnight air that entered his room was so cold, it was felt, because he was only wearing a thin undershirt. After he collected his hazy vision earlier, it finally became clear. Outside, it was as if someone was waving at him. Kenley still couldn't believe it, because his head was a little dizzy to catch the figure who was staring at him. Moreover, coupled with the minimal lighting in the city, he had to really focus so that it was clear who he was.

Kenley's eyes widened perfectly after catching the figure that had been disturbing his sleep. "Eldred?!" he said slowly. He was surprised, because there were Elfairs in the Hamoursh region. Kenley recognized the figure.

He thought of a way to get out of this guild, because he already knew very well what figure was waiting for him in the living room there. Looks like Dryzell hasn't slept yet. He had to think of the best way to get out. But an idea popped into his head. He lifted his foot out the window and quickly jumped down. Approaching Elfair's figure there.

"Eldred? Is that you? What are you doing here?" Kenley asked quietly.

The Elfair figure was wearing his gray robe, covering his Elf's ears with a hood so that the humans wouldn't find out. Even though the small town is already quiet, but it still feels like it.

"I've been looking for you for three months." said the fairy. His blue eyes seemed to blend with the moonlight that increasingly illuminates the earth. The wind blew lightly, blowing the hood on his head as if forcing to reveal his albino white hair.

"Why are you looking for me? Even though we can meet at the Seiry river if we have a plan to meet." Kenley said explaining.

Previously, they had known each other since childhood, no. Since Kenley was little. At that time he was seven years old. At that time, Eldred tried to help Kenley, because he was lost in the Larnia forest, the forest was in the territory of the Elfair people.

Eldred was a hundred years older than Kenley. Naturally, because she is a fairy whose life is eternal. His face seemed to refuse to age. Even until Kenley was now twenty-three years old, Eldred had not shown any change in his handsome face. They look like the same age.

"I have an important mission," said Eldred. The hood he was wearing was swept away by the night wind. So that the appearance of an elfair is clearly visible. Shining blue eyes, Albino white hair that reaches down to her waist, As if she looks absolutely perfect. This time he didn't care and didn't put the hood back on. "Mission?!!"

It sounded like someone opened the guild door. Kenley hastily grabbed Eldred's hand to quickly hide. If a human were to find out, Eldred could be killed.

"Eldred, please listen to me." said kenley before continuing. He looked around, still afraid that someone, let alone Dryzell, would find him out of the dungeon.

"I will meet you at the river Seiry in the morning. You can go there first. I will follow." The connection.

"If you are seen wandering around here, humans will catch you because you entered human territory without permission." Obviously Kenley was calculating.

Eldred confirmed Kenley's words. The boy's words are true. He covered his head again with the hood of his gray robe.

"Okay, don't be late." Eldred said as he hurried away. Kenley nodded, watching Eldred walk with his back to him, until he finally drifted away into the darkness of the night. He hoped that Elfair would be all right until the river Seiry arrived.

The River Seiry, is a border between the Elfair region and the Hamoursh region. After the fairy figure disappeared, Kenley rushed into the guild to return to his room. Unexpectedly, someone managed to eavesdrop on his conversation with the elfair. That's Liza. Kenley was wide-eyed.

"Was that Elfair?" Liza asked which made kenley worried. What if he told the guild people?

"N..No" he answered shortly. "It's okay, I see it clearly, you are friends with Elfair, whereas here it is clear that fairies are not allowed to enter human territory" said the girl embracing Kenley's shoulders, as if making the jet-black haired man cornered. Liza hoped that the man wasn't hiding something from his guild mates.

"Please don't tell people." said kenley with sparkling eyes. This time he was caught red-handed, trying to hide something, but Liza managed to get him to tell the truth.

"Before sunrise I will go to meet the elf at the river seiry. Looks like he has something important to say." Kenley explained. "May I join?" Liza asked. "What?"

"I'm just bored of having to do guild work every day." The girl looked at the old guild that had been standing for a long time.

"B..But, what if Dryzell tails us later?!".

"It's okay, I can take care of it. And I'm pretty sure he won't be suspicious of us leaving the guild. We give him the deer we hunted, he'll believe it."

"Then I'll hurry back to sleep so it's not too late tomorrow." Kenley rushed to open the guild door. As it turned out, Dryzell was already asleep on the table with several cups of sake in front of him. Looks like he was drunk, until he finally fell asleep and fell asleep. Hastily he stepped up through several stairs to his room.
