"Woah. I didn't know mummies could talk?" Teta started snickering as usual, though he had to admit that he was lacking in material. Kinda like her, to be fair.
"Rude for no reason. You must be Teta." As Snowman interrupted Teta's laughter, her eyes scanned the three monsters before her.
The most fearsome looking one looked completely neutral, with no real expressions on his face. She could tell that his eyes were quite active, evaluating her through and through. Snowman had no idea how the man would react, as her report said that he was a bit...unpredictable. At least when it came to the manner of prey.
Switching her gaze to Lat, she observed his awkward expression. The golden haired adolescent was scratching his arms, almost as if he didn't want to be here. If she had to reference her information, the quickest answer would be yes. She had to admit, he truly was the weakest looking one.
"Miss Snowman, ya know who we all are, right? Can ya tell us what we will be doing?"
Startled out of her evaluation, she faced Alban completely. Three suits materialized themselves in the air as she threw each one of them at the monsters before her. She then walked to the corner, her vision locked on the wall in front of her face.
"Get dressed, and I will debrief you afterwards. Please hurry."
"Ah, yer really recruiting us? What for?"
"I will let you know as soon as you finish." Hearing this, Lat started to grumble under his breath. The kind of people that would allow a den of slavery in their midst was not the kind of people he wanted to serve. Still...
The words he said were absolute, his resolve as unfettered as could be. Lat was a gheckla of his word, and he would follow through with whatever he set his mind to. Yet if Alban wants to enslave people...his thoughts drifted off as he stared at his clothing.
While Lat was thinking, Alban was already getting dressed. There was a black skintight shirt, fitted with brown camo pants. He had already inspected it and found that there were no stat upgrades, to which he was sorely disappointed. 'I guess it wouldn't do to give new recruits good equipment, just in case they're strong enough to run amuck...'
'I should really grab the wind element, for laundry or something. This is gonna get pesky...'
As he inspected his clothing, he found a pair of dog tags in his left pocket. It had his name on it, and the number 1 on it. It was also marked with today's date, though there was no year. Still, 5/15 was a good enough effort for him.
"Hey, boss. Why don't you have a jacket?" At this, Alban's attention was soon directed towards Teta. Unlike him, his sleeves were short and he had a mini jacket the same color of his pants. Alban simply shrugged, not really concerned about equipment with no value other than identification. Teta saw this and just shrugged as well.
"I'm finished as well! Can ya tell us what ya'll have us do now?" Lat had the same outfit as Teta, aside from the fact that his jacket had no sleeves and was a bit longer. All of them were fully equipped, now ready for whatever the woman had to say.
Snowman turned around before appraising all of them, speaking as she did so. "Right, you have complied. Let me first explain our rank."
"We are Commoners. We have no duties other than obeying the chain of command. We cannot accept job requests unless we are authorized. When we are not under orders, we must patrol the Lower District of Mrathos."
"Mrathos? Is that where we are?" Lat piped up, wanting to get as much information as he could. Just in case.
Alban merely watched and listened, letting his senses do the work for him. He knew his friends very well, and Lat was the kind of person who would ask about every little thing. There was no reason for him to waste time as well.
"Yes. This is the capital of Mrathos, and it shares the same name as the kingdom. This information is not vital, so if you wish to rebel, please do it already."
"Why the fuck would we? What kind of absolute *moron* would try to mess with someone without knowing what they can do in an UNFAMILIAR situation." Teta scoffed, brushing aside Snowman's comment as if he had already calculated each and every way they could escape. Lat's countenance withered a bit as the room temporarily regained its silence.
"Lastly, here's this." A small bottle full of grey colored powder settled on her hand, before she threw it towards Alban.
"It is Full Powder. I have received the information that you get very hungry. Please use this instead, it will help curb your hunger overall. At least for a while."
"Thank you, Miss Snowman." Alban slightly smiled, curious as to how much information they really have on him. He figured he'd get the answer sooner or later, so he wouldn't be much in a rush to find out.
Meanwhile, Snowman was confused at the savage smiling at all. In his portfolio, he was only seen smiling when fighting, and not ever at all. She was surprised how handsome the man could be when he wasn't exuding the aura of an unbridled predator. Turning around, she gestured for the three monsters to follow her.
She brought them to a wide room, complete with three beds and three drawers. There was a desk far off to the side, as clean as the very room itself.
"We will be heading out for your first day tomorrow, as it is quite close to day. This is where we will sleep."
"Sleep? Yer a girl, ya can't sleep in the same room as us!" Lat's objection caused Snowman to tilt her head in confusion. As his face reddened, she got the point.
"Caretakers must survey their group at all times. I will be sleeping on the desk, so there is no need to worry."
She said nothing more before sitting atop the desk, her legs held to her head and tightly wrapped by her arms. Lat was left speechless as he just stood there, gobsmacked.
"Does it really matter? We've been recruited, not invited to a slumber party." Alban said nothing more before promptly slumping on his bed.
"C'mon, blondie. Are you 10 years old or something?" Teta teased as he flew over to his bed while laughing at Lat. Lat was left alone in the doorway of the room, ashamed and slightly irritated by the constant teasing. He knew he could do nothing, so he merely went to the only remaining bed and laid down.
A minute passed. Then two. Before three could occur, Alban, Teta, and Lat simultaneously sighed.
"This shit is nothing like the cave I'm used to. It's way too comfortable!"
"I prefer the wilderness."
"Yeah, I don't think I could get used to this kind of luxury..."
It wasn't long before the trio decided to sleep on the floor by their beds instead. Settling down for the night, they let silence fill the room once more.
Laying in the quiet, Alban opened his panels for the first time in a while. He stared at the Quest function, deliberating whether or not he should draw more quests.
'I could get something troublesome...but it is a good opportunity to get stronger...I'll wait until tomorrow. On patrol, I'll know the area a bit better. That way I can draw the quests when I see how dangerous this place is.'
Whistling under his breath at the prompt he hasn't seen for quite a bit, he settled in for the night. Tomorrow will be a big day, after all.
