Chapter 70 - Devour

After the announcer stopped speaking, Alban made a mad dash for a four legged monster with the head of an ape. As he ran, he raised an earth pillar directly in front of him and slammed his bound hands down into it with enough force to propel him into the air. He then summoned earthen platforms and kicked off of them in succession, his mouth open in a bid to satisfy his deep hunger.

The ape swung it's long neck at Alban, who proceeded to cover it with a large blob of water, lessening the impact. He then landed squarely on it before summoning his flames from his feet. As he ran towards the ape head of the creature, he left a burning trail that caused it immense pain.

But the agony wouldn't last much longer, for Alban had already reached the top of its head. Wondering if the ape even had a brain, he brandished his manacles against the monster's head. Wildly smacking while maniacally laughing, the monster was dispatched at a monsters notice.

Alban, who was laughing with glee at the prospect of finally having something to eat, was unaware of the tall three legged slab faced monster that had already arrived at his current area. The monster was fairly gargantuan, being the size of around five and a half cyclopses, and so it's hand was big enough to smother half of Alban's body. The outstretched palm smacked the savage off of the dead ape's head, pushing him to the ground.

As he fell down he was pretty irritated, his grin almost changing into a frown. He was left in a sort of middle state as he flew through the air, not making any attempts to right his position. The audience was getting ready to laugh, just before Alban softly hit the ground. He had softened the terrain beneath him, quickly jumping up and running towards the slab faced creature.

While sprinting towards the slab monster's leg various monsters got in his way. He rampaged amongst them, his untamed aura running equally rampant. He swung several flurries of kicks at the animalistic creatures that attempted to impede his progress and quickly kill him. It wasn't long until his legs were covered in a myriad of colors, all originating from the battered monsters he beat back.

Alban was losing himself in the violence, enjoying the feeling of hurling his appendages and utilizing his mana. He rained down fierce blows upon his enemies, smashing, twirling, and impaling when applicable. His body was overlaid with an incandescent orange red heat, his flames enveloping his form entirely.

Yet and still he threw water blades at the opponents around him, opening spaces in his flaming veil when needed. The slab monster was quivering in fear as it stared at Alban's berserk movements, occasional flashes of electricity spurting out from his legs. The observing creature had enough and ran towards Alban, hoping to take him out while he was distracted.

Alban may have been caught up in the flow of the battle, but he wasn't oblivious at all. Aside from the first time he got distracted due to his hunger, his every sense was heightened to their extremes. The savage almost monster could even feel the air that clung to his body when he drove his body into the creatures surrounding him.

As such, he could tell that the slab monster had almost reached him. He turned his head directly at the approaching creature and sharpened his eyes even further, glaring at the enemy that sought to sneak attack him. The slab monster had no eyes but could feel that leveled gaze boring into its skin, almost as if it was trying to figure out what secrets the inside of its body held. It hurriedly swung it's massive fist at Alban's comparably diminutive form.

Alban raised his right leg towards it and expended more than half of his mana to summon a huge earthen sphere, to which he kicked with all of his might at the approaching meat hook. The normally impossible feat was achieved due to the sheer power he felt because of all the fear pointed at him. Even the monsters far away in the audience started to fear him, to say less about the monsters in his immediate area.

The two opposing forces met each other midair, but the boulder proved to be more powerful. The slab monsters's outstretched fist was crushed as it's knuckles shattered. The gargantuan monster staggered backwards, falling back on its two hind legs.

Alban swung at the surrounding monsters wildly with his shackled hands, crashing up against hard skulls, broken ribs, and abraded skin. The protrusions along the more spiny monsters were cracked, while clear indentations adorned the surface of the softer monsters. Although Alban was tempted to bite into them and satisfy his hunger, he still observed the hunched down slab monster. That *thing* was in the way.

Alban leapt up into the air, moving towards the creature using his earthen platforms. He aimed his body at the very front of its head, rushing forward at a speed he had never reached before. As the wind he pierced through whistled into his ears, he had his eyes firmly locked on the target.

The hulking creature was completely unaware of the calamity speedily approaching it, shambling backwards on its pained hind legs. The impact from falling back on them offset its weight enough to effectively crush them, and the slab monster had to drag itself rearwards in an attempt to escape the savage aura it was surrounded by. It feebly pushed itself as fast as it could go, which resulted in it not getting very far at all.

Alban's blazing body materialized right before the slab monster's face, landing onto the vertical surface. Alban protruded earth spines from his feet to get a solid grip on the terrain, keeping one foot firmly implanted in the monster's flesh at all times. He sent tendrils of fire into the punctured flesh while he was at it, causing the monster to wail in agony.

The smile on his face shined like the bright rays of the morning, as his grin deepened. It progressed at the same time as the monster's pain, the two mixing into a violent crescendo. The cacophony of animalistic bellows and subdued cheers rang through the arena as he settled at the midpoint of the monster's flesh. Alban spotted no mouth or any such opening, and started wondering how the monster was screaming. He decided he'd found out himself.

Alban's bound hands burrowed into the monster's flesh. Tearing gashes with his quick and sharp movements, he started excavating into the squirming face, blasts of fire entering the yawning passage. The smell of cooked meat permeated the air, surging towards Alban's nostrils. As he breathed in deep, his mouth watered while his stomach started howling in pain. He paused.

He thought about it for a while. He had never eaten a monster while it was still alive, yet his instincts were compelling him to. He turned around and stared out of the pulpy cave, letting his eyes take in all the carnage that he had caused. He saw no monsters approaching him, none even daring to near the slab monster's onslaught of blows in every which direction. He gulped down his saliva and leaned his face forward as his gleaming white fangs somehow shone in the darkness.

He started eating.
