Really, she didn't even know how it started, or why it started but soon enough it was heard that she would be getting married. To whom? she wondered. Sabrina vert, adopted daughter of Legendary Wang vert was the youngest child in the vert family. She had an older sister now, Dahlia vert. Dahlia was the closest person she knew on earth after her father, they'd share everything even if there were not related by blood in any way. Wang vert was a business tycoon, he had fought tooth and nail to get his company into the high class elite and he had succeeded but he felt he needed to push further, he was not a demonstrative father with his affection but his girls knew they were loved.
" Sabrina, did you know either of us will get married soon?" Dahlia said to her one afternoon as they sat in the gardens overlooking vast fields. Sabrina could not believe that Dahlia could be involved in the rumors that had probably started with her older sister's snob group of rich brats, they always knew everything and Sabrina hated them.
"Dahlia, you can't possibly believe that? how can we be.....who told you that?!" Dahlia smiled.
"it's the hottest topic in the group, tang zu told us she heard her father discussing it with kira ming's father and their wives" she said blushing. Sabrina was petrified! so her life was being judged and ruled the elites before her ? what form of system is that!
"I don't believe that, besides you know tang is a talkative and a liar,she probably made it up...."
"oh, not so, I heard father talking about a marriage..."
Sabrina rose in anger,what nonsense? what utter nonsense??!
"Don't say that sister! you even look happy at this useless rumors! so you like the idea if us being married off?!" Dahlia knew how upset her sister was so she calmed her down,besides nothing was wrong with it....especially to whom they might be married off to...
"Sabie, don't be mad....do you know the family one of us might be married into?" she whispered and Sabrina's frown deepened.
" The whites, the Cosgroves...."
"Dahlia...!"
"And the D'rouge"
The last family froze Sabrina, the D'rouge? no....its really not possible....no way!
Everyone knew the D'rouge, the family was considered the highest class of elites.....well atleast one of the highest.....so saying that one of the Vert girls....if eligible enough would be married off to a D'rouge is like saying your marrying into eternal royalty and prestige. Sabrina would not believe that.
"D'rouge?" she asked quietly, the name needed to be sounded with respect.
"yes, Im sure, they want to expand so they are doing so in marriage, WE might be chosen sabie! us! .....but if we are not they might go to the mings or the stones....but I know we will be....."
"Dahlia! Goodness! What is the world turning into??? now marriage is about business and power? what the hell happened to love!?" Sabrina yelled.
"Sabrina, you should grow up, love is a fairytale unless you are lucky, this has nothing to do with love, by the time you hey associated with them, love my dear won't matter AT ALL" Dahlia said as she walked away from Sabrina. Sabrina was speechless, like what happened to society???
That same night she and Dahlia were called by their father to his study. His study contained of nothing less than a 4 bedroom room with a 10 ft library on the left side and expensive mahogany furniture covered with real fur and a fire place with an electric heater,a large balcony and a statue in the middle of the room.
"Dahlia, Sabrina, I called you both here to discuss a very important topic" he said his deep gray eyes deepening as he talked.
"This year the highest elites are expanding this giving a chance to the common elite to grow, there are doing so in marriage" So it was true! thought Sabrina sadly, they were really going to be sold off.
"I am sure the news have been going round, well you should know that the families of Ming, Klarke and us has been considered to be chosen by the highest elites.....hopefully the D'rouge." Even Wang hoped to be a part of that family through his daughters, like Dahlia he did not feel like he was selling off any one.
" Well next Friday is the annual elite party and we are invited.....you girls must be at your best so we can make this to work, talk carefully because you won't know whose who at the party ....trust me, and find nice things to wear, update your wardrobe and makeup box....whatever it is you ladies do, we must all bring our A game is that clear?" he asked.
"yes Dad" said Dahlia,she was obviously excited and could hardly wait.
" Sabrina? i hope it's also clear to you " he said calmly to make her feel at ease and not pressured.
Sabrina had not said anything earlier and now that her father wanted to make sure she MUST be at terms with this.....she sighed bitterly.....
"yes father" It was clear....atleast that her life decisions wasn't hers to make.
