Davis was looking at the sun. He was in a trance like state
"Hey Davis" Max tried to grab his attention
He didn't budge he kept looking towards the sun "Hey kid"
"Get up here," he said while tapping the roof next to him
Max did as he was told and he jumped onto the roof and sat next to Davis, Bella on the other hand just stood behind them.
"Well?" Max asked he was getting impatient, he planned on ignoring everything Davis had to say and just intended on leaving
"That Sun, it's beautiful ain't it?" Davis said while staring directly at it, his pupils had constricted due to the light but he kept staring at the sun
Max who hadn't seen the sun in the past 4 years truly did find the sun to be beautiful
"...Yeah" he responded
"The one on Earth, it's even better"
The sun close to Kepler 452B was much dimmer than the sun close to Earth.
"I've never seen it, so I couldn't say" Max gave a straightforward answer.
"Well, take my word for it"
"Is that want you wanted to say?" Max asked
"Nah, just thought the sun looked nice" After saying that he turned to Max and looked at him instead
"You're special ya know that?" Davis said while looking max in the eyes
Max felt quite awkward, he had never seen Davis up close before. He looked fine, but his eyes were dull. Duller than any other pair of eyes he'd seen before.
"Just because I have RH-NULL blood?"
"Yeah, that but there's another reason why. You survived."
"People, they don't live after being injected with the Blue serum, they just die."
"They also get lonely, sad and depressed in that white room"
Max wasn't shocked by Davis's revelation, The pain he felt would've certainly killed him. And the only reason why Max was still sane was because of HUE.
"That's why most members of the CROSS wear an armour, it makes em stronger"
"Up till now, only 14 people have survived becoming blues"
"Including me?" Max asked
"Nah, you're the 15th, i just haven't registered you"
"Why?" Max was dumbfounded up till now Davis had wanted max so badly yet now he was saying that he didn't even need him
"Remember, 4 years ago, when i brought you here. You asked me to let you go, You reminded me of my own son."
"II I could I would've let you go kid." Davis looked away, he was now started staring back at the sun
"I made a promise that day, That iI I could I would help you."
"Well, your the vice general now right?"
"Yeah, and that's why i can let you go iI I want to, no one is gonna ask me anything, even if they do ill just make it so you never existed... On paper" Davis made sure to add the words 'on paper' so Max wouldn't get the wrong idea
They both sat there staring at the sun no one was saying a word. Max didn't know how to react, he hated Davis with every fibre of his being yet now that hatred significantly lessened
"You said something about having a kid," Max asked, his question broke the thin wall of silence between them
Davis let out a long *sigh* "I did, I had a beautiful wife too. Back on Earth though. Pretty sure they're dead now"
Max was expecting there to be some tragic backstory to them but he didn't expect what Davis had said
"Um I'm so-" before Max could finish his sentence Davis cut him off
"No, you don't to be. I wasn't strong enough to protect them that's all. I don't even deserve your apology" Davis had broken out of character once again. He sounded sad.
There, again, was an odd silence between them. No one said anything
"Kid, do you think CROSS could beat PRIMA?" Davis asked breaking the silence
"After seeing what I can do, if we had enough blues I'm sure CROSS could" Max replied
*PFFT* Suddenly Davis broke into laughter *AHAHAHAHA* He laughed and at the same time, he would bang his fist on the roof of the SUV. That was the first time Max had seen Davis laugh like that
"Ahhh, kid you crack me up," Davis said while wiping a tear from his eye
"Blues are nothing special, in fact, I'm pretty sure B-16 Has an army of its own Blues. Anything we can come up with B-16 Already knows of"
Hearing this revelation shook Max to the core.
"Y-you your building your entire army on something that the enemy already has!?" Max exclaimed
"Hold on it gets better," Davis said while laughing
"To use the serum we don't even need RH-NULL blood groups"
"Bella is a Blue and her blood group is AB+"
"YOU WHAT!?"
"YOU, YOU DID ALL THIS WHEN YOU COULD'VE JUST USED ANYONE?" Max was enraged he wanted to punch Davis in the face and he was going to do just that, but before he could Davis interrupted him
"Making the serum is hard Max, kepler doesn't have the necessary materials, and the reason we use RH-NULL blood isn't because of the Syrums compatibility" Davis explained
"THEN WHY DO YOU NEED IT!?"
"Shut up kid your yelling too loud" Davis groaned as he wiped the insides of his ear with his pinky finger
"Listen, I can't tell you the next bit until you join CROSS"
"HA! YOU THINK I'M STUPID? NO THANKS. JUST LET ME GO" Max wanted none of what Davis was offering he just wanted to salvage whatever life he could.
"Fine, I'm not gonna stop you, leave if you want to. But before you go I feel like you should know this." After completing his sentence Davis jumped down from the roof, opened the SUV door. He pulled out a laptop and jumped back up again.
"Look at this, kid," Davis said as he flipped the laptop open.
The laptop displayed some sort of solar system
Davis pointed to one of the plants and said
"This is Kepler- 452B" Davis pressed a few buttons and a new solar system popped up
"And this is Earth," Davis said while pointed to another planet
"Kepler is about 150 Light years away from Earth. Pretty far right? It took us 6 years to get to Kepler"
"So? What do I do?" Max asked he was ready to just leave but again something told him to stay
Davis pushed a few buttons again and the display shifted only this time it didn't show any solar systems or plants but rather it showed two blue dots and multiple green dots between the two blue dots.
"When the humans fled from earth we started throwing tiny scanners in space, we did that so we could tell whether PRIMA was following us. Those sensors are still active"
"The blue dots represent Earth and Kepler while the green ones mean ships"
Hearing Davis's words Max's heart dropped. He could see 15 green dots, and if PRIMA had people just as strong as Max then CROSS stood no chance against PRIMA.
Max gulped his saliva he was scared. Anyone would be.
"We have a year before they get here, Max. If you want you can go home and live your normal life with your family. But trust me, it won't last long"
"You along with everyone you love will die, and that's the truth, it happened to me...
Hearing Davis's words Max didn't understand what to do
"S-so that's it? We're doomed? We're done? Right?" Max desperately hoped that he was currently dreaming and would wake up any minute now
"Well, we do have a chance but..." Davis paused
"But what? What but?"
"Max, you have a chance, a chance to help save the people you love. Would you not take that chance?" Davis asked
It was clear that Davis wanted Max to stay. Max on the other hand had no intentions of doing so.
"I would... But given the current situation, I can't NO ONE COULD. What you're asking me to do is commit suicide." Max had, had enough he no longer wanted to hear what Davis had to say.
He got up and jumped down from the SUV.
"It would be suicide, if we didn't do what we had to" Davis voiced out, He didn't call out to Max or anything Max continued to walk away
There was a distance of about 15 feet between the two. Max turned around and asked, "What did you do?"
"Guess, I'll just show you"
Davis got up and jumped down.
"Fight me," he said as he put up a fighting stance
"No thanks, I'm leaving" Max knew exactly what Davis was capable of and wanted nothing to do with him
"HEY, KID! LOOK AT ME!" Davis yelled from behind
