Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Video Went Viral?

He Xingzhou immediately contacted the seller and asked, "Do you still have mutant fish?"

Seller: "Dear, I'm here, plenty! How many do you want?"

He Xingzhou: "You've got a lot left?"

Seller: "Cast a net and caught a whole nest! (Pic)"

The picture showed some deformed fish. According to the seller's description, these were black bream, a common fish species in the Southern Sea.

They looked fierce, with sharp teeth, and very strong anal and dorsal fins. These mutated black bream were twice the size of normal ones, and their heads and eyes were unusually large, making them look very strange.

He Xingzhou was at a loss for words, wondering if the seller would lose sleep knowing that he had caught a nest of Insect Race gene carriers with one net.

"Can you give me a discount for one? How about 1000?" The seller had quoted him 3000 per fish, and He Xingzhou was bargaining with him.

Seller: "Dear, we don't negotiate prices in our store, oh."

He Xingzhou: "A flat price is fine, but you must ensure the fish are alive."

Seller: "I can guarantee that. Normal fish pulled up from the water need extra oxygen to survive, but these mutants are doing fine without it."

"Alright, I'll buy three." He Xingzhou placed the order, using money that was all budgeted for experiments.

Who would have thought that a Miniature Nuclear Fission Reactor experiment would spend the most money on buying fish!

The delivery was fast; a few days later, He Xingzhou received three mutated black bream. He kept them in a basin in his dormitory.

"What kind of fish is this, it looks really ugly!" Feng Tao said.

"It feels a bit gross!" Zhang Boyan commented.

"Mutated black bream," replied He Xingzhou, "for the experiment."

"That's good then, I was afraid you were going to keep them as pets." His roommates weren't very interested.

Before experimenting with the nuclear stimulation of Insect Race genes, He Xingzhou first drew blood from these mutated black bream, tested their genes, and preserved biological samples for comparison.

There was a biology lab at Science and Technology University, and He Xingzhou found an interest group on the school forum that was keen on studying Mutant Creatures to help with the genetic testing.

Hearing that He Xingzhou was researching the effects of nuclear experiments on Mutant Creatures, they readily agreed.

He Xingzhou also specifically searched through the Quantum Light Computer's tech tree, finding the item on biological genetic technology.

"Unlocking basic genetic knowledge requires one energy unit."

"Unlocking genetic evolution knowledge requires one energy unit."

Although these two were both considered basic knowledge, compared to what the Blue Star people knew, they were still considered cutting-edge Biology information.

He Xingzhou directly used up the two remaining energy units to unlock these two pieces of tech information. With the influx of information, he gained a lot in the area of biological genetics.

Everything was ready, just waiting for the experiment to begin!

A few days later, Zhang Boyan also confirmed the timing of the experiment with He Xingzhou.

He specifically instructed, "The experiment is set for next Wednesday, during my class. This experiment has significant educational value, so I plan to live stream it to the students. Other professors from the Physics department will also be watching."

"The location will still be in the nuclear physics lab, it's safer. Are you ready?"

"Ready," said He Xingzhou solemnly.

"Good," said Zhang Boyan, "I'll be following the whole process, and don't put too much pressure on yourself. After all, it's a nuclear experiment, and any issues that arise are normal."

"Understood," He Xingzhou nodded his head.

After setting the date with the professor, He Xingzhou began planning to make the third video in the series, which was also the final episode of "Do-It-Yourself Nuclear Reactor."

When he logged into the B site's backend, he was startled.

His inbox showed 99+ messages, and when he opened it, they were all private messages from fans.

"UP host, hurry up and update, I want to see the nuclear experiment! (Fun) (Dog's head)"

"Is your nuclear experiment safe? Won't it explode?"

"When will you update???"

"Great job, big guy!"

Most of the messages were urging updates, and to He Xingzhou's own surprise, his account suddenly had over 100,000 followers.

For a newcomer, without any titles, credentials, and not being a pretty girl flirting for attention, it's very difficult to gain 100,000 followers in just a few days.

Yet He Xingzhou had done it without realizing it!

He checked and saw that both of his videos had been viewed over 500,000 times!

"Who would have thought that so many people are interested in me building a nuclear reactor," He Xingzhou thought. He was doing the right thing.

He needed the attention of the whole nation because the upcoming super technology plan would need everyone's participation, and the more the public was interested in technology, the better!

While He Xingzhou was checking his private messages, a chat window popped up in the backend with the message: "Hello, I am Little Mu, the video editor from B site. Your 'College Student DIY Nuclear Reactor' videos have been very popular on our site. Did you make these videos yourself, and do you own the full copyright?"

He Xingzhou: "Yes, it's me. What's the matter?"

Little Mu: "It's like this, we've noticed that many fans are interested in this video series. We suggest you use a live stream to interact with the audience in the last episode. After the live stream, you can edit the video, which could increase your popularity, following, and view counts. And it can also bring you some economic benefits."

He Xingzhou thought it made sense, as it could further expand his influence.

He replied, "The final experiment has to be done in the school's nuclear physics lab. I need to communicate with the school authorities."

Little Mu: "Alright, if that's feasible, I'll arrange a promotion for you on my end."

He Xingzhou: "Thank you."

He Xingzhou immediately contacted Zhang Boyan, who said that this was about educating the public in science knowledge and it did not involve any state secrets, so live streaming on the website was not an issue.

Therefore, He Xingzhou confirmed the live stream arrangements with the site editor, and the final experiment would be displayed to viewers via live broadcast.

He released a live stream preview under the ID "Planet Builder": "Hello everyone, I am the Planet Builder. The final episode of my 'College Student DIY Nuclear Reactor' series will meet everyone live on this site at 2 p.m. next Wednesday. Stay tuned!"

Once he posted the update, quite a few followers commented:

"A nuclear experiment live stream? Instant follow from me!"

"Front row seat!"

"Waiting for the live stream, I really want to see if this is real or fake!"

"My notebook is ready! Learning to build a nuclear reactor!"

"Quick question, will learning this help me get a job?"

...

Time quickly came to "next Wednesday," the day the Miniature Nuclear Fission Reactor experiment was about to be conducted.

Early in the morning, He Xingzhou went to the lab. Safety personnel in the lab first inspected his experimental setup to ensure no nuclear accidents would occur.

Additionally, protective measures were arranged at the scene, and He Xingzhou had to wear protective gear to carry out the experiment.
