Chapter 2 - Tier 8 Mutated Creature - Red-scaled Fire Python

The head had a pair of scarlet eyes that were the size of a fist.

A cold glint emanated from those eyes, causing Emerson Cole to feel a chill down his spine.

Even in the dark, those 1-foot-long fangs were still emitting a cold glint.

Emerson Cole recognized it at a glance.

Tier 8 mutated creature - Red-scaled Fire Python!

Before coming to the dark forest, Emerson Cole had already gained a sufficient understanding of the dark forest.

The dark forest could be divided into 4 levels.

They were the outermost, outer, central and core regions.

At the outermost region, there were some normal creatures and tier 9 mutated creatures.

The Iron Horn Ant that Emmerson Cole had eaten was a quasi-rank tier 9 mutated creature in the outermost region.

As for the Red-scaled Fire Python, it should be active in the outer region and the central region. It would hardly appear in the outermost region.

Such a powerful mutated creature had its own territory. It would usually not leave its territory so easily.

Even if it left, it would at most hunt some preys around its territory and then return to its territory.

However, the Red-scaled Fire Python appeared at the outermost region, and it was even so close to him.

Emerson Cole could feel the fear lingering in his body. Fortunately, he was always cautious, and he was able to notice the python first.

If he were to relax a little and did not notice the python, he knew very well what would happen to him.

Looking at the Red-scaled Fire Python that kept spitting out its tongue, Emerson did not hesitate as he hurriedly climbed down the tree.

His movements were minimal as he climbed down slowly. He did not dare to make any noises when he was climbing down the tree.

He knew very well that if he made even the slightest noise, he would immediately be noticed by the python.

If the python were to notice him, with Emerson's strength, it would be very difficult for him to escape.

The difference in strength between the 2 was simply too great.

He could not even be considered a genetic warrior at that moment. Even if he successfully advanced to a tier 9 genetic warrior, he would still be nothing more than food for the Red-scaled Fire Python.

Slowly, Emerson climbed down the tree. When he saw that he was only about 20 feet away from the ground, he could not help but heave a sigh of relief in his heart.

Since Emerson had not been discovered by the python, this made Emerson feel much more at ease.

However, he also knew that he could not let down his guard at that very moment.

After exhaling softly, Emerson once again cautiously moved down the tree.

However, when he was less than 2 meters from the ground, he accidentally stepped on the tree branch.

Crack!

A crisp sound rang out.

"Sh*t!"

Emerson thought to himself. He suddenly raised his head and saw Red-scaled Fire Python staring at him coldly with its eyes. It was splitting out its tongue while staring at him. In the next second, it opened its huge bloody mouth and bit toward him.

Upon seeing this, Emerson jumped to the ground and rolled to dodge the attack.

Then, he quickly got up and ran away without looking back.

Fortunately, Emerson had been moving around the area during this time, so he was familiar with the surrounding terrain.

He knew that whether he could survive or not depended on how he utilized the terrain in that area.

As Emerson ran, he paid attention to the movements of the red-scaled flame mantis.

Since entering the dark forest, Emerson's body had become much stronger, and his vision was much better than before. It appeared that he had some night vision ability.

After running for a while, Emerson felt that something was wrong. Thus, he turned around and realized that no one was behind him.

"Strange, could it be that it didn't catch up?"

Emerson muttered to himself.

Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!

Suddenly, Emerson's body tensed up. He turned his head and saw that the Red-scaled Fire Python appeared in front of him.

At that moment, the Red-scaled Fire Python opened its huge mouth. An unpleasant smell assailed his nostrils as it bit down on Emerson.

Upon seeing the huge bloody mouth approaching him, Emerson was so frightened that his hair stood on end. He hurriedly dodged, and he narrowly avoided its attack.

Then, he jumped and climbed onto a rock. With a push of his legs, he grabbed a tree branch and flipped himself onto the tree.

The Red-scaled Fire Python saw that its attack was ineffective. The python raised its head and watched Emerson climbed onto the tree trunk. Then, the python swung its massive tail.

Boom!

A loud sound rang out.

The tree fell to the ground.

The moment the Red-scaled Fire Python's tail hit the tree, Emerson jumped onto another tree.

"What a troublesome fellow."

Looking at the tree that was smashed by the python's tail, Emerson's expression was awful. He did not expect the Red-scaled Fire Python to be so troublesome.

Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!

Upon seeing that its prey did not get hit and had instead fled to another tree, the Red-scaled Fire Python hurriedly twisted its body and continued its pursuit.

"Hmm, what's that?"

Emerson was prepared to escape again when he saw the python was chasing him. Just as he was about to move, he saw a flash of white light at the abdomen of the Red-scaled Fire Python. As it was late at night, the light was exceptionally dazzling.

Emerson did not see the white light clearly because the distance between them was quite far. so he did not know what happened. However, he still kept an eye out.

As Emerson escaped, he was constantly paying attention to the movements of the Red-scaled Fire Python.

Time passed bit by bit. Emerson did not know how long he had been running and how far he had escaped.

He only felt that he was exhausted. His legs felt as if they were filled with lead, and he could not feel his legs at all. However, he knew that he could not stop.

A Red-scaled Fire Python was chasing after him.

As long as he stopped, the python would immediately catch up to him and eat him in an instant.

However, while he was running, Emerson discovered that the Red-scaled Fire Python's speed was not as fast as it was at the beginning. In fact, it was moving a lot more slower than he expected.

Moreover, every time the Red-scaled Fire Python twisted its body, its abdomen would bend high, and liquid would flow down from its abdomen.

That scene caught Emerson Cole's attention. Unfortunately, he could not see anything from a distance. However, he had a feeling that whether he could escape or not must have something to do with that matter.

Moreover, he had always been curious about why the Red-scaled Fire Python would appear at the outermost region. He feel uneasy about the white light that he saw earlier.

These 2 questions had been lingering in his mind, but he knew that he should not be thinking too much.

Another 10 minutes passed. Emerson took advantage of the opportunity and leaped high into the air, using the 3 trees that lined up in a straight line to move around.
