Chapter 34 - Daughter-in-law

"Yes, you know me well"

Ezekial said as a small satisfied smile was seen on his face. He already expected that reaction from the young woman. He knew that the young woman was going to act like an innocent girl who had never met him before. "Wait, you know him?"

Alek questioned with a frown as he looked down at the young woman, waiting for the young woman to deny. Mara squeezed her eyes, deciding on what to do. 'I will just play around with him if that's what he wants' Mara stared into Ezekial's eyes.

"Oh, you are the man from the club, right?" The young woman spoke with a stone face. Her words made Alek furrowed his brows in confusion and displeasment. Ezekial chuckled lightly. "Yes, you are right" he replied with a smile as stared into the young woman's eyes.

"Shouldn't you go clean your white shirt first? I think it is better than walking around in that shirt" Mara said with a stone face as her eyes fell onto the white shirt which was soaking wet in red wine. It looked like the man just killed someone and got dirtied by the blood.

Alek's eyes flickered with flames, wanting to kill the man in front of him. "Then will you eat lunch with me this Sunday?" Ezekial asked as he stood like a statue. He did not even bother to acknowledge the man who was glaring at him from the behind of Mara Athena.

The young woman furrowed her brows. This man was not going to walk away from her if she did not accept his offer. She knew that for sure. But why? One thing for sure, she got his all attention. That must be the reason why he was asking for a lunch with her.

"Fine, tell me where to meet"

Mara said as she looked into the man's gold eyes with a cold face. "I will come pick you up" Ezekial spoke as his lips formed into a small smile. He did not expect the young woman to accept his offer. He thought she was going to refuse with an excuse.

"As you like, I will be at the company this Sunday" the young woman replied as she waited for the man leave her alone. "See you then" Ezekial said with a smile and he walked away from the young woman. People who were watching jaw dropped.

Did the ice cube king Ezekial Clyde smile? Did he just talk with a woman? Did he just look at the woman with affection? No way, he was not that type. Ezekial Clyde, the man who never smiled just for once in his life. The CEO of 'Jole' company.

He was famous with his hard working skills. He was perilous and dangerous to be around. If you annoyed him like a bug, he would kill you without hesitation. Ezekial never interacted with a woman. He hated the women because they were chasing him like flies.

There were thousand of women who were standing in the line to get noticed by Ezekial Clyde. He was rich enough to buy a whole country and strong enough to crash others. His background was unknown and no one knew which family he was from.

Some people said he was the great grandson of the King. The King of Tiel country. But some said Ezekial was the son of a famous mafia. His family was unknown till today and he never spoke about his family. It was said that he was not interest in relationships.

More likely to say, no one ever had got his attention before. It was until the young woman named Mara Athena came. She was the first woman who got his attention without trying. The first woman who got a chance to make an ice cube smile like an easy matter.

"Don't worry"

Mara patted Alek's hand which was gripping her arm tightly as if he was going to lose her in a next second. "Do you want me to kill that Ezekial Clyde?" Alek questioned as he took his hand back. His question made the young woman stared at him in disbelief.

Did Aeksander just say he would kill the man if she wanted him to? 'Wow, he sounds like a protective boyfriend and psychopath at the same time' Mara chuckled as she shook her head. "No, Alek. It is really fine" The young woman patted Alek's shoulder.

She was telling him to stay calm. "I am going back, it is little late now" Mara spoke and gave the wine glass to the nearest waiter. "What do you mean? You just arrived like a few minutes ago" Alek said with a frown, he wanted to be with the young woman more.

"I know, I am sorry. I really need to go back" Mara said as she looked up at the man, smiling at him. In Alek's eyes, the young woman looked like a pure kitten asking for a permission. Her small and cute smile was tickling his heart.

Slowly and slowly, his lips formed into a smile. "Alright then let's go" Alek seized the young woman's hand after putting down the glass onto the nearest table from his hand. "W-wait, are you leaving too?" Mara questioned as she pulled the man's hand.

Alek stopped walking and turned around to face the young woman. "Yes. Why would I stay at this stupid loud place without you?" his words made the young woman blinked twice in surprise. 'This man is so straightforward'

Mara admitted it, she liked the men who were straightforward. Because it was better than trying to find out what was going on inside his head. "Then wait me here. I have to bid farewell to your father first" Mara spoke and shoved away the man's grip.

It might be rude to leave without informing to the host of the party. Alek nodded and stood at the place. His eyes focused on the young woman who just walked away to somewhere. When the young woman left, his face flushed in embarrassment.

He just realized what he had spoken.

Alek facepalmed himself.

Feeling extremely embarrassed with himself. "Oh, Mara. What's wrong?" Noah questioned with a smile when he noticed the young woman walking to him. "I am going back, uncle" Mara said as she shook her hand with the man.

"Wait, then I will go tell Alek to drive you back" Noah spoke as he looked around to search for his son. "He is also leaving too, he is right there!" Mara smiled and pointed at the man who was watching her from afar with flushed face. Noah nodded.

His son was really fast. He winked at his son secretly, signaling Alek to try his best. "Then see you, Mara. Take care" Noah spoke and patted the young woman's arm. He always treat her as his daughter, or more likely to say daughter-in-law.

"See you, uncle" Mara smiled and turned around to leave. Her steps were directing to the man who was smiling at her with reddened ears. "Alek, are you feeling unwell?" Mara furrowed her brows at the sight of the man's flushed face.

Alek shook his head with an awkward smile. Was his face that obvious? "Let's go" Alek seized the young woman's hand, turning around to leave. People simply watched the scene in shock. Did the aggressive lion grab a woman and smile like a fool?

There were many strange things happening in the party, making people frowned tightly in confusion. As the young woman and the man walked out of the hall, people from the outside stared at them in disbelief. So the news were true.

The news about Alek treating the young woman named Mara Athena like a princess were true. The news about Alek smiling at the young woman with affection were true. The news about Alek changing into a completely different person because of the young woman were true.

"Thank you"

Mara thanked the man who opened the car door for her like a gentleman. Alek only smiled and closed the door. He went to the driver seat and started the engine, leaving from the party. The car drove off from the place. "What is your ideal type, Alek?"

The young woman broke the huge silence in the car, causing the man to furrow his brows in surprise. Alek did not expect that question from the young woman. He gulped, thinking for the answer deeply. "Cute and defenseless? The girl who you have to protect every time?"

Mara asked and looked at the man who was driving carefully. "No" Alek responded. He did not like the woman who he had to protect every time. "Huh?" Mara furrowed her brows and stared at the man in confusion. Then what was his type?

Didn't he like the girl named Mara Athena because she was cute and defenseless? If not then did he even like the girl? "I like a woman who would never need my help, independent woman who is good at managing business" Alek's words confused the young woman.

Mara blinked twice as she gulped. "Nice.. That's a good one" she smiled and looked out of the car window, feeling confused and dizzy at the same time. She felt like Alek was describing the total opposite of original Mara Athena.

'I am getting weird feelings' Mara shook her head and let out a sigh. "You have arrived" Alek spoke as his eyes fell onto the young woman who was spacing out. Her eyes were unfocused, seemed like she was drowning in the ocean of thoughts. "Mara?" Alek softly spoke.

"Huh?" the young woman straightened her back and looked at the man with a stone face. "You have arrived" Alek repeated, making the young woman raised her eyebrows in understatement. "Oh yea! Thanks for today, see you" Mara patted the man's arm and went out of the car.

She ran into the house but quickly stopped her steps. Mara stood in front of the gate door and turned around, she waved her hand as a big smile was seen on her face. Alek only smiled and waved back. His ears reddened as his face flushed.

His heart was dancing to the romantic song, feeling extremely happy to see the young woman being friendly to him like old days. The car drove off from the house, causing Mara to sigh in relief because she finally arrived back to the house.

"Finally!! I am home!!"

The young woman shouted as she stepped into the house with boredom on her face. Lily and Lila welcomed their Miss with smiles. "Welcome back, Miss!" Lila grinned as she handed the glass of water to the young woman.

Husky who heard his owner's footsteps, ran down from the upstairs. "*Woof*" Mara knelt down with  a grin when her eyes met the dog. "Did you have fun, Miss?" Lily asked as she looked at the young woman sitting down on the lounge while ruffling the dog's fur.

"No. I mean the food were delicious and yet I met the man who I should not" Mara spoke and kissed the husky's head. Lila gasped at the young woman's words. "The man who you should not meet? Is that your ex-boyfriend, Miss?!" Lila questioned in surprise.

Mara sighed tiredly and looked up at the girl with 'are you kidding me' face. "No, Lila. I just met a man who is not supposed to meet with me" the young woman spoke and leaned back. "I don't understand" Lily said with a stone face.

"Nevermind!"
