Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

He gulps and backs off. Aster twists it again and screams echo in the house. I snatch the camera from one of the reporters hands. I spin it towards him.

"How does it feel to get your finger twisted, sir? Does it feel good?" I mimic them, innocently. They lower their gaze in embarrassment. Aster almost rips his fingers.

I fling the camera on the wall causing it to break into pieces. "How did you feel? Good? No, right? That's the way this girl and many other people must have felt when you forced them. You don't care about other people's feelings, you only care about money and promotions! All that matters to press reporters is spicy news for their news channels, right?"

"The truth is that nothing matters more than money to you!" Aster adds as he releases his finger and rubs his neck. "Get out!" He yells. The news reporter grabs his finger and walks out of the door with the other reporters. "What are you watching? Get back to work!" I shrug my shoulders at the cops that are staring at me and Aster.

A clap from the doorstep catches my attention.

I look up to meet the most merciless baby blue eyes I have ever seen. Despite not wanting to, a smile pulls out like a bullet. This is beyond my expectations. I never thought I will see him again but I guess something else was written. A big smile plastered on his face, he make his steps towards me and Aster. "I thought we won't meet again?" I comment, giggling, pacing towards him too. He lets out a breathy laugh. "Do you know each other?" Aster asks, shocked, pointing towards me and him. "Yes, we have worked together," he replies with his husky voice.

Let me clear your confusion. He is Brett, a top cop from Special Branch. He is known for his ruthless kills and intelligence. To be honest, he is one of the smartest cops I have ever met in my career. It's fun working with him. I never thought that we will be able to work together again. "Wow, that's nice! Well good news then! We are going to work together on this case," Aster squeaks. Brett winks at me and I smirk at him. "No doubts that you are still the same," he comments. "Are you here for long?" I shake my head. "No, I just came here," I reply. Aster gestures a cop with his fingers to handle Julie. "Take care of her. We have to investigate her later," he whispers in the cop's ears. He nods his head and stretches his hand out, leading Julie towards a room where no one will disturb her. Aster leaves the room as he hears his name getting called.

"So, what's the top cop doing nowadays?" I tease him. "Some spicy kills and encounters. You know how good it feels to shoot a bullet in their criminals, right?" He rubs his hand, lustily. He is just like me. He enjoys the same thrill as me when we free the earth from a criminal. "It's been so long since the tip of my gun has not been on someone's head. I miss this feeling!" I whine. He lets out a small giggle. The sound of his crackles is so adorable that no one can resist it, not even me. A bawl catches our attention. We look through the frames to find a brunette girl, sitting on the couch, sobbing. Two lady officers are trying to comfort her. I wonder who she is. Tears cannot stop flowing out of her eyes. She brawls even louder with time. I glance at Brett to see him staring at the girl with a raised eyebrow. I believe that he does not know that my gaze is on him. He rolls his eyes and gives her a bored look. Brett hates people who overreact. He gets so irritated when he sees people over-acting for no reason. He rubs his neck and finally glances at me. He furrows his eyes and shrugs his shoulders. "Come here," I order one of the cops who was leaning against the wall and reading some documents. He nods his head and approaches. "Who is she? Why is she bawling?" I instantly ask, a feeling of disgust rushing through my spines. "She is Alexander's girlfriend. You just came here but we have been handling her since yesterday," he replies in a bored tone. It feels like he's sick of her. "Why? What has she done?" I further ask. He releases a sigh before replying. "I can understand you. Just look how dramatic she is!" Brett replies on his side, awfully pointing towards the girl. The cop does not leave without glaring at the girl. She catches him and instantly changes her expression. She gives him a dark look. Wait what? She was just crying like the world has ended. I tilt my head and raise an eyebrow at her. She notices me and immediately looks away.

"I wouldn't cry so much if my girlfriend died," he jokes, resting his arm on my shoulders. "You must have a girlfriend to cry over death," I reply, shoving his arm and placing my arm on his shoulders. "Aren't you here?" He winks at me. He grabs my arm and wraps it around his neck. "Ew, my choice is much better!" I joke, scrunching my face. He bursts into laughter on seeing my expressions and so do I. We grab our stomachs and take support from each other.

"Did I miss something?" Aster stands in front of us and asks, furrowing his eyes and smiling at the corner of his lips. We take a long breath and reply "no" in unison. We giggle at the fact that we said in unison. Oh my god, my stomach hurts! It feels so good to have him back as a partner. It makes me nostalgic of those days when we were working together on the kidnapping case. We used to have so much fun and inner jokes. "Okay, so shall we investigate Julie now?" Aster asks, placing his strong arms on his waist. "Yeah, let's go," Brett replies. "What about her?" I question, pointing towards Alexander's girlfriend. They move their gaze towards her and after a split-second of complete silence Aster replies. "She is Jane Lewis, Alexander's girlfriend. She has been here since this morning, sobbing and screaming!" He mutters the last part slowly. "I can feel that," Brett replies, scrunching his nose.

I don't know why but I am consistently getting a bad vibe from her. An unknown feeling that cannot get over me. She is catching my attention!
