After Victoria had bought the pregnancy test strip, she and Joan's mother both waited downstairs for Joan to wake up.
Joan's mother was desperately hoping and praying that Joan should be pregnant. She didn't want to get her hopes up but she knew that Joan being pregnant was going to help her understand that divorce wasn't what she and her husband needed.
"Let me go and check if she has woken up," Victoria said to Joan's mother. They were both sitting down in the living room.
"I'm coming with you," Joan's mother said and she got up on her feet.
When they both entered Joan's bedroom, she was coming out of the restroom.
"You are awake, how are you feeling now?" Victoria asked Joan.
"The headache has subsided," Joan replied as she went back to sit down on her bed.
"Mummy, why are you looking at me like that?" Joan asked her mother who was giving her a serious look.
