When Joan and Steve got to the hospital, they found Joan's mother sitting at the reception with her head bowed down.
"Mummy!" Joan called out as she ran to meet her mother.
"Yinka, thank God that you are here. Yinka, please help me to pray," Joan's mother had tears in her eyes as she looked up and pulled Joan down to sit beside her. "Yinka ejoor... Please help to beg God not to take your father yet, please...." Joan's mother cried out.
"Mummy, please stop crying," Joan hugged her mother as she tried to hold herself from crying as well.
Steve took off his jacket and handed it to Joan to cover her mother with, for she was putting on only a nightgown, covered with bloodstains.
"What are the doctors saying?" Steve asked Joan's mother when she had stopped crying.
"Nothing yet; they are still attending to him," Joan's mother replied as she wiped her tears.
