Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Charlotte's POV

Brianna placed a hand on Jameson's shoulder while the other held the nape of his neck, and pulled him closer to her.

I can guess what's coming next.

Gosh! I shouldn't gaze at them like this.

I immediately looked down at the papers on my hand, studying them.

Maybe they might have kissed or might not have kissed. Either way, I don't think it consumed much time.

I heard Jameson clear his throat and Brianna taking a step forward in my direction from the corner of my eye. I pretended to read the contract as if I was engrossed in one of my favourite novels.

When Brianna turned, I looked straight at her, showing no signs of 'I've-seen-you-guys-smooching' on my face. I pretended blind to notice they had just kissed a moment ago.

Her face didn't show any emotions. That's strange… Or, she might be trying to hide them.

"Um… I should be going now," Jameson said.

I saw his cheeks were red with embarrassment, he excused himself from the room. I guess they might have kissed then.

Brianna's puppy-dog eyes followed Jameson as he exited the room.

"Charlotte," she started. She wetted her lips and expired, making a light breezy sound. After a moment or two, she shook her head while her mind was elsewhere. I gave all my attention to what Brianna would be saying next.

"I'm sorry. I really didn't- just wait for a minute, I'll be back soon," she mumbled while trying to walk out of the room. She paused and turned around.

"Are those your bio-data and credentials?" She asked, pointing to the file in my hands.

"Yes. My bio-data and college certificates. Unfortunately, I have no credentials, it's my first time working in a company."

"Okay. Can you please give me that?"

"Sure."

I gave her the file and watched her rush out of the room. I stood there quizzically. My mind was weaving wild thoughts

What the hell has happened? They wanted me to be the spectator of their PDA?

Whatever. Brianna must be so lucky. She kissed Jameson Miller! What might be their relationship?

I couldn't keep my mind from thinking of what had happened just a moment ago.

My phone rang, distracting me from all that. It was Ariana. I answered her immediately.

"Hey! Where are you?" She enquired, her voice sounded a bit worried.

"I'm somewhere you won't believe I am."

"Where exactly?"

"In a big resort of course."

"Resort?"

I can almost see what her expression would be like. I giggled.

"Yes. R-E-S-O-R-T "

"Duh. I mean, why are you there? You're supposed to go to your office, right?"

"Of course I am. There's a twist I gotta tell you. Not now. It's a long story."

"Okay. I'll hang up then."

"Bye."

I glanced at the time on the screen. It's been over ten minutes now. Where is she? She might be settling all the things, I guess.

Jameson's POV

I feel so ashamed that I'm extremely furious at Brianna for doing that. What would Charlotte have thought?

We're lovers or must be in some other kind of relationship, most probably.

I groaned in my mind. Just because we were friends at college doesn't mean she has the right to act as my girlfriend!

She's crossing her boundaries. I won't let this happen next time.

"Jameson, wait!" Brianna called from behind. I stopped in my tracks.

I couldn't hold the anger of Brianna trying to kiss me in front of her. I loosened my tightened fist.

I need her.

"I want to have a serious discussion with you," she said, walking towards me. Her face looked apologetic.

"Me too. What were your intentions by kissing me in front of her?"

"I had no bad intentions. I was just--"

She cut off, searching for a relevant reason.

"I'm sorry. You know why I did that."

"No. I don't know."

She didn't respond. I sighed heavily.

"Please, Brianna, I don't want this happening again. Good luck on your job at Nextar. Bye."

I was about to turn my back at her when she started again.

"Wait. You haven't listened to what I wanted to say."

I turned straight to her. She always puts on an apologetic look and does all the outrageous things. I know what's coming ahead.

"What is it?"

"It's about us."

There she goes again. It's been over a year since she has been talking about us. And I've literally told her more than a hundred times that I'm not interested.

Maybe she can love me honestly, but Jamie isn't ready for that even if Jameson Miller is.

"Not now. I have a busy week ahead," I stated while my thumb brushed along the side of my finger.

I didn't lie with her. I'm really busy. I can't worsen my time schedules to find time for these ridiculous things.

I want to escape from all this.

"Why don't you give me a chance?" Her voice was melancholy.

I can't Brianna. I can't.

She edged closer to me, pressing her soft breasts against my arms.

Seduction again? Please Brianna, this is not gonna work on me.

I slowly distanced myself from her.

"I'm really busy, Brianna. After this, I need to prepare for the rest of my schedule for tomorrow and then there's-"

"Is it business, or something else that's keeping you away from me?" She interrupted, placing her hands on my biceps.

Why did she stress the word else?

"I'm wasting my time already."

She's got magic in her green eyes. I turned my gaze away from her, who was looking up expectantly at me.

Brianna stepped back as if she'd been burned by something scalding hot.

"Maybe, it might take a while," she whispered.

No, Brianna. A thousand years cannot change my mind.

I acted as if I didn't even bother to acknowledge her as I walked away.

When I got into my car, I leaned my back on the rear passenger seat. I felt the cold metal of the old locket resting against my chest.

I can't think straight. My mind is not elsewhere, still I can't think of anything right. I need rest.

I didn't realize I dozed off until Mason, my driver, called me up.

My head is aching. I get the feeling like my head is hit by the hammer used in a high striker. I'm so exhausted. My mind was still in that room, where I saw Charlotte and was discussing things with her and Brianna walked in to kiss me. Good that I pushed her at the right time.

I stepped out of the car parked in front of my home.

I could hear Georgina squeaking. I can't believe she's twenty-two and still acts as a toddler. I couldn't hold myself from chuckling.

Oh my god. I love her so much, my sweet sister.
