Chereads / The Greatest Anti-Human Warlock / Chapter 2 - World Peace (1)

Chapter 2 - World Peace (1)

As he arrived at the city's gates, Chris realized how humans and the other races have coexisted, and that is together. Beastmen, reptillians, amphillians, atlanians, and even demons, they were part of human society, and not just as mere constituents, but as normal as another human.

That kind of society, it was a dream for his parents. Humans and Non-humans, they thrived to achieve that, but in the end, those whom they tried to accomplish it for, were the ones who ended it.

"Humans. Filthy traitors until the end, eh?" he thought, clenching his fist.

And as he went on, looking for where to start his plan, he noticed a sign. It was for a local inn, so he concluded the first step to his revenge, and that is blend in among them as efficiently as possible, until the next step is decided. His plan was to devour all human societies from inside out, and the first step for that is to be part of the target society. His father, Grucius, taught him how to decide instinctively, or the 'based on the situation' kind of decisions. This was so he could control his actions and make decisions efficiently. He mastered this when he was 12, living in the forest cabin that his father made for them, it was survival on instincts, sensitive for the slightest changes in the environment. That experience developed his senses to an extent almost equal to a beast's, like the whiskers of a cat, the nose of a dog, or the eyes of a snake, his senses were on par with the best assassins mother nature could offer. He could blend in with his surroundings, and adapt to abrupt changes. This ability was a perfect fit for his revenge, like a tiger within a pack of antelopes, it was a free all-you-can-eat buffet for the predator.

"How is a room for 1?" he asked the attendant at the front desk. "That would be 50 nickel coins in advance, then 30 per month." she answered. "Would you like to take one?" she asked, trying to work out how he would be able to pay rent on time. "Yes, please." he confirmed as he took out some money he found in the chest in his house. The attendant took him to his room, where it was quite luxurious, as he expected from quality of the services that he instinctively assumed as the 'local's best'.

He learned the currency used by humans while he was at the gate, where there was a gate pass fee. In the form of coins, gold was the highest, then silver, copper, nickel, iron, bronze, and finally brass, the lowest value. Each coin, except for brass, is worth 100 of the coins before them, so that would mean that one gold coin is worth 1,000,000,000,000 brass coins. But brass, bronze, and iron coins are too commonly earned to be the standard value for business, so nickel was regarded more.

In his room, Chris practiced his power of enhancement, which was the power to enhance one's self or others on certain areas, like [Strength Up], [Agility Boost], and [Mana Up]. Although he kept it faint, the mana he emitted was so noticeable that knights guarding a nearby guardtower thought that some monster was in the inn and went to check, but left when they were pointed to Chris. The guards apologized to Chris and the innkeepers, and advised the innmaster to keep an eye on Chris, because kids like him were supposedly destructive. Chris used his keen hearing along with noise filtering magic to eavesdrop on them, then he knew that there may be some frolicking children who stumbled upon his home where they could have found his siblings' inheritances. He was enthusiastic on how they would fare with him, the "Master of Omnipotence", a name that Haedios called him when he learned the power of death in a matter of seconds.

Then when he went outside to explore more, he stumbled upon an alley, where there was a guy abusing a girl of his ciurrent age. At first, he didn't care, because he thought it better to have the human society crumble from the inside, but when the guy started to hit and kick her, he was reminded of his family's fate.He changed how he looks, then appeared behind the guy with teleportation, then faintly used [Death] on him. As the guy faded into dust, he left, but then the girl caught up to him.

"Th-thank you! Y-you saved me!" the girl said. "Don't thank me, I wouldn't have if he didn't remind me of my family's death" Chris answered, with a glare intended to inscribe fear. "T-that magic, wasn't that [Decay]? A-are you a Royal Sage?" the girl asked, stammering and scared. "You don't need to know, you'll soon be gone anyway" he answered, disappering from the girl's sight. "Let's not stumble into her again..." he thought, standing on the roof of a building.

As he went on to continue his exploration, he saw a sign above the gate of some school. It said:

"Welcome to Laymann High! For new students, take the exams and pass to be registered into the most prestigous high school in Estral! Applicants are welcomed register until June 8th! Good luck!"

Then an idea was made. He thought that this was a good oppurtunity to continue his revenge, but he had to raise some money first, and since it's only May 9th, he thought to try registering at the Guild, which was where warriors, mages, hunters, and the like come to take missions to earn money.

So he went there, looking like a middle-aged man, and took the Guild's exam. Since he registered as a mage, his test was to hit the moving target with any projectile of any type of magic, so he used a Lightning Bolt from where he stood, and hit the target and exploded. It shook the room like an earthquake, and that suprised the headmaster of the Guild, so went to the examination room to check.

When he arrived, he saw the half of the room covered in ashes and the examiner shocked on her knees, "L-lightning!", she said. "Y-you know l-lightning magic?!" The headmaster was shocked, from a glimpse of the room, he knew the examiner wasn't lying nor imaginig. He escorted Chris back politely and calmly, because he was scared what Chris could do if he were to be his enemy, in fact, he wouldn't dare report him to the Royal Knights, whose rights include the arresting of potentially dangerous people to be negotiated with. The people inside the building were in awe, how polite and kind the headmaster was treating the man, despite being known to be a highly-skilled swordsman who has a bad temper. But Chris knew that this can be good for him, so he let it play out.

"H-headmaster Neil? W-who was that?" asked an attendant, shaking from nervousness of getting scolded. "From now on, treat that man with utmost respect, all of you, even the other registered members. He must not be our enemy." he answered calmly and distinctively. "Y-yes, Headmaster Neil." the attendant responds, surprised of the headmaster's behavior.

Back in the inn, Chris prepared to set out to find the weapon he forged in the forest. It was a Longsword imbued with Enhancement magic, and Chris plans to add [Death] into it too. It was already buffed with [Sharpness: Supreme], [Smite: Supreme], [Knockback: Supreme], [Featherweight], and [Anti-Friction], they were all top-tier, so there's no doubt that it would be very useful, especially when it's also imbued with the power of death. Since Haedios taught him how to imbue the 'power that disintegrates all' into a weapon, he thought he'd use it here. Though the chances are slim, as long as he finds his sword, his plans will roll out smoother.

Just after high noon, he'll be starting his journey of finding the key to his satisfaction. Though it's possible that huamns had already found it, Chris was confident that no mere human would be able to wield it against him, and unless an elf or a beastman found it, he did not hesitate.

Now that the beings of the world has evolved fundametally. and even socially, his journey won't be easy, especially since the power of the beings in that era were unclear. And yet, he yearns to find the truth, and serve justice upon the sinful.
