Bella caught sight of Alicia and Reuben but it seemed like they were coming their way.
"Your ex wife seems to be coming here," she whispered to him and he said," Don't worry about her."
"Mr Carter, what surprise! I thought you were not coming," said Reuben as soon as he reached them. "Why not? We had issues to deal with first. This is my darling wife, Bella Carter," he said. "Oh such a beauty! I'm Reuben Clinton of course. You already know my wife but nonetheless, I will introduce her. She's Alicia Clinton," he said and Bella rolled her eyes. Was that really necessary? "Nice to meet you two. Hope you're having fun," said Ethan and Reuben answered," Of course, we are." All this while, Alicia was looking at Bella and she held her gaze at her. When Alicia noticed that Reuben was still dragging on the conversation, she excused herself and went to the washroom because the atmosphere was uncomfortable.
It was then that Ethan asked him to excuse them claiming that they had a number of people to meet. "Does she still affect you?" Bella asked the moment they left him. "Come on, Bella. Of course not," he spoke calmly but she heard that he was angry. "Okay, I'm sorry. I was just asking," she said. Honestly, she felt insecure back then seeing how beautiful Alicia is up close. She then noticed that his eyes were looking elsewhere and she asked," Hey, what's wrong?" "I have seen someone I need to speak to. Will you be alright here?" he asked and she nodded. "Okay, give me a moment. I will be back shortly," he said before going to meet the person. Bella then stood up to get herself a drink.
It was then that Alicia came back from the washroom and her eyes fell on Bella who was standing alone. Searching around, she caught sight of Ethan who was speaking to a certain man and she used this opportunity to approach her. Bella who was sipping on her drink heard a voice," I thought he wouldn't leave your side even for a moment." She looked and saw that it was Alicia," He's coming back shortly. Why?" "Well, I mean he seemed to be clinging to you a lot," she said and Bella smiled before saying," That's how we both are towards each other."
"I saw that. It's good that he finally found someone who reciprocated his feelings. Considering the way he cried for me when I left him, I was so worried about him," said Alicia and it was clear that she was provoking her. Bella knew what she was aiming at but she kept her cool and said," You need not to worry about him. We all meet people in our lives and we get to think that they are the ones made for us but eventually it turns out to be wrong when we find the ones that were actually meant for us. Just like he found me, and I found him." She saw that it didn't sit well with her but she forged a smile before saying," Oh is that so? Then why don't you let him join me and Leah when we hang out together? Don't tell me you're insecure? I only want to do it for Leah and no other purpose." Bella chuckled at this and said," I will never be insecure. I entirely trust my husband and there's nothing for me to worry about. If he's not coming along when you invite him then he probably finds it unworthy," said Bella. This time Alicia lost it and said," Unworthy and trust you said? You shouldn't be so sure about that Bella Edwards. Let's speak sincerely, do you think that if I decide to get Ethan back I can fail?"
Bella was now losing it but she took a deep breath before saying," First of all, it's Bella Carter. And secondly, I'm going to pretend that we didn't have this conversation for the sake of Leah. For her sake, you should first think before speaking." "Are you trying to threaten- " "What's going on?" Ethan interrupted Alicia as he made his way to where Bella was standing. Earlier as he was having a very important discussion with someone, his eyes looked at where he had left Bella and when he saw her speaking with Alicia, he made way to where they were immediately. "Alicia Clinton had some issues to discuss with me," said Bella and Ethan looked at Alicia questioningly. "Well, I wanted to ask her what she has told my daughter. She no longer wants to come see me and it wasn't the case before. I need an explanation," she said. "Perhaps if you stop interrogating Leah about us everytime she comes to your house and use that time to get closer to your daughter then maybe it wouldn't be the case," Ethan told her and she was dumbstruck. Did that girl tell them about the questions she asks her whenever she visits her? How embarrassing!! "What do you mean by that?" she feigned ignorance.
