After a week passed, Cynthia decided to accept reality. She was feeling guilty. She got flowers and went to meet her daughter. Standing in front of the tombstone, she squatted down and placed the flowers on the tombstone all this while flowing endless tears. "My baby, you were taken away from me so early. I-I didn't even get an opportunity of holding you, kiss you, or at least breastfeed you. But I want you to know that even though I didn't spend much time with you on Earth, the nine months you spent inside my womb are enough for me to treasure you through out my whole life. No one will ever take your place, you will always be in my heart. And I am sorry for taking so long to come, but I promise that from today onwards, I will visit you everyday. I hope you rest in peace. I love you so much." She remained there for sometime before standing up and turned to leave but found Elena standing behind her. She glanced at her and walked past her towards the house. Elena remained there confused. She heard the words she spoke. She noticed that ever since they discovered the news about their daughter's death, they had distanced themselves from her as if blaming her. Yet originally she did it to have their full love and attention. Did she perhaps over do it? She had never been ignored by her.
Luna was seated in her office bored. She leaned her head back on her seat and stared at the ceiling. She then decided to go to Graham's office to check on him since she hadn't seen him ever since they left home in the morning. Reaching the office, she noticed that the door was slightly open and it seemed that he was conversing with someone who was definitely Vikram.
She was going to open when a certain topic caught her interest. Vikram said," The match is in two months from now. Adverts have been placed everywhere. When are we starting training?" "You shouldn't worry about it. I can even train in three weeks. You just have to check what Freddie is planning this time," he said and Luna felt her blood boil in anger. Didn't they talk about this already? He was surely going to hear from her this time. "I have my eyes on Freddie. You should have yours on Ethan Carter," said Vikram and this piqued her interest. Ethan Carter? Why? She leaned closer and heard the conversation the two men were having. Luna was beyond shocked from what she heard. Never in life had she expected such a thing. Her face became pale. Her skin got covered in goosebumps as tears started flowing from her eyes and she ran away from there.
Vikram was inside chitchatting when suddenly, he felt a presence by the door and immediately ran to check. He saw Luna's silhouette disappearing at the far end and it seemed like she was running. He turned back to Graham and said," Luna was here. I think she heard everything." Graham was silent for a while until he said," It was to happen sooner or later but I wanted to be the one to tell her. I will go after her." As he stood up to follow her, Vikram touched his back saying," Leave her for sometime to digest things. She must be hurt."
Graham thought and nodded before sitting back on his seat. She indeed needed sometime alone.
Luna went back to her office completely dumbstruck. She was pacing back and forth. She had started trembling and shaking. She unbuttoned the first two buttons of her shirt but it wasn't helping. She instantly got a throbbing headache. She got water and gulped the glass in one go. She needed answers.
Swiftly, she left her office and left the building to hail a cab because she doubted she would be able to drive in that condition.
The cab dropped her at Carter Corporations and she didn't waste any second in going in.
Luna went to the elevator and pressed the top most floor and when she reached, she directly went to Ethan's office and opened it without bothering to knock.
Ethan was in his office in the middle of something very important when his door was banged open and he looked up to see who would dare to barge in. His eyes met a furious Luna who had a cold look in her eyes. He had never seen her looking like that. She always had the soft and kind look but today, he saw that she could also be fierce. And if she was angry to this extent then it only meant one thing. He slowly stood up saying," Oh, Luna. I'm happy to- "Is it true?" she interrupted him in the coldest voice he had ever heard from her.
Clearing his throat, he asked," What do you mean?" "Were you in cahoots with someone to kill Graham in the accident he got two years ago?" she asked. "Who told- "Did you or did you not do it?" she yelled, interrupting him from completing his question. Taking a deep breath, he said," Yes. I did it Luna." Tears flowed from her eyes.
