By the side, Nero remained unfazed. His expression was cold as the pressure he released increased even more.
Turning to Amaya, he said, "Would you like to carry out the execution?"
From when these martial artists appeared, they had completely disregarded him only focusing on Amaya. They, as men had said things that Amaya found disrespectful and offensive which made her only grit her teeth without taking action. There was also the fact that if she did take action in her current state, she would not be their match and she would be the one to suffer more loss. But now that Nero had taken action, she felt more relieved and safe.
Hearing Nero's question, how could she refuse. Amaya slowly walked towards them beaming with confidence. She picked up a short sword from one of the dead martial artists and with a cold look… she went wild. Stabbing with passion the daylights out of these martial artists, Amaya seemed to have a thrilling moment.
"Wait I can give you anything-."
"Die!!"
At the last minute, the martial artist known as master tried to reason with Amaya but was instantly shut up by her. The stabbing lasted for a couple of minutes before she stopped. Now, she was completely covered in blood as a thick killing intent emanated from her. At this point, she didn't have the graceful appearance of a dignified Princess but that of a bloodthirsty psychopath. Her chest heaving up and down as she took in heavy breaths; with each breath, her killing desire swelled more.
Seeing the sudden change in Amaya's character, Nero wasn't at all surprised. He had anticipated a reaction like this although not to this extent. When the plump martial artist was lasciviously mocking her, Amaya had unconsciously released faint wisps of thick killing intent, as a deep killing desire swelled up in her heart. For Amaya, this killing desire was born out of the state of helplessness she was in at the time. Although she was at the Divine Sea Realm, if she had taken action, she would have been subdued by them. But at that moment, Nero had offered her a chance to ease up her killing desire; hence, she relished at the moment and carried out a smooth kill. Amaya's face was filled with ecstasy as she withdrew the blade from the last corpse.
"It's your turn to stand watch."
Turning to Nero, she only spoke a few words before heading towards the river. Nero didn't bother to argue and launched into the forest.
An hour passed. Amaya was already out of the river. She didn't have any change of clothes so she still wore the ragged clothes as of before, but this time around her overall condition had improved. While being immersed in the water, Amaya took the liberty to completely refine the medicinal essence in her body. Although she still had a few injuries left, they weren't as fatal as they were before. Color had returned to her face as it flushed red and her cultivation had also improved.
Amaya's cultivation improving was as a result of her taking time to refine the medical stored in her body. If the medicinal essence was left there without being completely refined, it would form dregs that would hinder her progress in the path of cultivation. As she was done putting on her clothes, Nero walked in from the thick bushes.
"Are you done?" He asked.
"Yes… we can leave now."
"Very well, let's go."
Like this, the two of them set out to resume their journey. The corpses of the martial artists they killed still lay where it was. Hopefully, by luck a certain beast would find them and quench their hunger; at least their deaths wouldn't be in vain.
Time passed day after day. Like this, Nero and Amaya had spent five days in this forest. They had gotten lost on many occasions and encountered many wild beasts. At this time, Amaya displayed great strength. Her body burned red hot as she charged toward a giant mole.
This mole had perfectly hidden underground waiting for the unlucky ones that would fall into its trap. If not for Nero's extraordinary perception, they would have suffered a loss especially Amaya. But now, Nero was standing by the side while Amaya ruthlessly attacked the giant mole. She brandished the short sword in her hand without sparing even the tiniest bit of Qi; this was the same short sword she got from those martial artists she encountered initially. The sword burned red as it sliced apart and burned away huge chunks of flesh from the giant mole.
The giant mole screamed miserably in pain as it was besieged by Amaya's rain of attacks. At this point, it couldn't take any more injuries; it burrowed its way back into the ground disappearing without a trace. Amaya wasn't stupid to go after it so she withdrew.
"Fire Qi essence nature… not impressive but not too useless," Nero said casually.
"You…." Amaya instantly flew into a rage. "Who are you to say that my power is not useless!? You're are so arrogant!"
"I don't know why you're attacking me. I only said your power isn't useless… or is it?"
"You!..." Amaya was very close to bursting out; her veins popped out from her forehead.
Nero looked at her and shook his head, "You clearly don't know how vast the world is. You might only know that fire Qi essence nature is a formidable form of Qi essence nature, but it is also ranked minor. Your control over it is only limited to using it on yourself and nothing else. If that is impressive to you, it is not to me."
Nero's words made the raging Amaya quiet down. Thinking more about it, she understood what he meant. This was undoubtedly a weakness she had and to have a stranger figure it out so easily made her feel somewhat inferior.
