Chapter 4 - Ch.4 Puzzles

As I walked into another room, I saw Toriel waiting for me. The room has mini versions of streams, bridges and more yellow switches. The bridges also have spikes on them. The switches have yellow arrows beside them.

"To make progress here, you will need to trigger some of the switches. Do not worry, I have labelled the ones that you need to flip."

"Okay."

Wow. She really treats me like a child.

I quickly flipped the first two and the spikes on the bridges retreated but I saw the third one have two switches.

"I wonder what will this do..." I muttered to myself.

Just when my finger barely touched the switch, Toriel said :

"No no no! You want to press the other switch. I even labelled it for you..."

Great. Make me MORE curious.

I decided to not push it further (in case Toriel attacks me like Flowey did) and pushed the labelled one.

"Good, you are very good."

What? What do you mean by very good? Are you trying to test me? Eat my brain?

I shudder to think about that thought. Toriel has gone to the next room already. What should I do? Go back? But it's a dead end. It's impossible to climb out of the hole since it is so high up.

"I'll just go to the next room. If she tries to harm me, I have to run and call for help."

I walked into the second room and saw a...Dummy. Nothing else... why would someone place a dummy here?

"As a human living in the UNDERGROUND, monsters may attack you."

"Like Flowey?"

"Exactly. So, you need to be prepared for this situation. However, worry not! The process is simple. When you encounter a monster, you will enter a FIGHT."

A FIGHT? Now that sounds more and more like a video game.

"Is the FIGHT like the black-and-white box, the 2D monsters, and bullets?" I asked.

"Yes, you are mostly correct but every monster's fighting patterns are different. We each have a unique way to FIGHT and you must learn how to dodge them."

Fighting patterns? I'm tired of these questions...

"But I can't dodge forever...right?"

Of course...No one can have infinite strength...

"Yes. Do not worry. While you're in a FIGHT, strike up a friendly conversation. Stall for time. I will come and resolve the conflict. Practice talking to the dummy."

Wait...whaaaaaaaaaaaaa? So the dummy is a fighting tool? And Toriel putted it...I guess. Dose that mean she expected some or a human to fall?

...Maybe it's best not to ask.

I walked to the dummy and...nothing happened. I tried touching it.

The area around me has become black-and-white, the dummy is 2D and I'm in a box again.
