There were about twenty high ranking nobles under the prime minister's faction that had supported Remorth to ascend the throne as to the late queen's will, and those who belonged to the conservative faction are about fifty lower and middle-class nobility who question his claim and wanted to place Riel as the newly crowned king after his lineage was known as the last remaining bloodline of the sage king.
With this, a large rift appeared between these two factions since both sides holds significant influences within the newly appointed royal court.
