Inside the study room, Riel was watching the butcher's memories (the man that was caught and killed by Riel in the slaughter room last night) that he had recorded thanks to the needle he used. What he saw, makes his stomach turns and keep pausing them since it was the butcher's point of view.
All of the recordings he saw were gruesome and disgusting. The butcher does take pleasure in torturing the prisoners and slaves by cutting their skin and flesh as slowly as he could before and after they were put on drugs. Upon seeing a scene where the butcher takes pleasure at the females he mutilated, Riel stops the recording and rubs his head in distress.
