Anna and doctors moved towards him in confusion.
Getting hold of his chair she asked, "Marcel, what are you going to do? Where are you going?"
"I want you all to do me a favour right now. I want my baby ."
"Yes Marcel you can have your baby but why right now?" she asked.
"I read somewhere, an article or something and it was almost like the situation of Fiona's. Only the difference was that mother's heart stopped during the delivery but as the doctors took the newborn near her face after a few minuted she regained her heartbeat. Imagine if that lady could revive why not Fiona. She is in coma that means her heart is still working and I'm sure she will wake up after her baby goes in her arms." Marcel said all this such quickly that it took everyone a few seconds to understand. His words seems convincing but it's near to impossible to believe in such things at this moment. However there is nothing wrong in having hope in small things and also there is no harm in giving it a try.
"But Marcel..." Dr. Maxwell began to say but Anna signalled him to stop and do as Marcel wishes.
So finally all the doctors went in Fiona's room and asked the nurse to bring the baby there.
"Anna you'll see she'll wake up." Marcel said in excitement and hope. His eyes are filled with hope and he is smiling as he will succeed. And deep down everyone there is hoping the same though it is hard for them to go with the flow because they are thinking practically.
In order to cheer him up Anna smiled and nodded, "Yeah surely she will."
But deep down the doctors and Anna knew that this is hardly going to work but secretly they were praying this to work. Marcel was sitting beside Fiona's bed near her head and as the nurse came with the baby he opened his arms to take him in them. There was a shine in his eyes as soon as he saw his son. He kissed his forehead and hugged him which awoke the baby and he started crying.
"Shhh... shhh... easy you are with your daddy... See here's your Mommy." He whispered and brought the baby near Fiona's head and laid the baby beside her. The baby found ease after few moments of crying because mother's warmth is more than enough for an infant to feel at ease. But Fiona showing no movement is lying there. She is a lady in her late twenties with black hair and wide blue eyes. She is slim and fine with a chubby face, which may be because of her pregnancy period. She was a girl full of life and laughter but today she is just here motionless.
Minutes keeps passing but Fiona showed no sign and everyone present there was losing hope even the nurses were sad with it.
Anna moved forward, keeping hand on his shoulder, "Marcel the baby needs to go now." She spoke softly.
Marcel's eyes were like stoned and without blinking kept looking at Fiona and after a moment Anna gestured the nurse to take the baby. As the nurse left doctors left behind her as there was nothing to say because Marcel's was not in a situation to hear or understand anything. He held Fiona's hand and kept his head beside her.
Anna left the room silently.
They all stood outside the room and talked on the situation.
"We knew it beforehand that it's not going to work out but you insisted on so we let him do that." Dr. Maxwell said to Anna.
She nodded, smiled a bit and looking at him said, "Thank you Uncle for everything."
"No need to thank me child." He said smiling, patterd on her shoulder and left. He is her mother's first cousin and therefore he knew about Marcel from the beginning. He therefore supported Anna when she came forward to sponsor all the expenses of their treatments. She also told them to bring in best of the best doctors in their team thi handle their case.
After they all left Anna decides to stay so she went inside the room once again. But there was something not fine in the vibe there and that was Marcel. He was looking at her fiercely like as if she had done some crime against him. She was confused but decided to ask as to what happened to him all of a sudden. Considering it as an after effect of the failure of his attempt she moved forward but as she stepped towards him to ask he stood up from his chair held her arm tightly enough making sure to hurt her dragged her towards the corner of the room and pushed her to the wall.
She was stunned with what just happened to her.
"Marcel what happened?" She managed to say.
"Shut up just shut your damn mouth up. I know what you did here along with those doctors." He said, his eyes burning with anger his voice sharp and loud enough to echo around the room and corridor. "You thought I would never be able to find out about your master plan. You planned to kill my wife with them but unfortunately she survived but oh wait you half succeeded...see her she is almost dead. " He spew out those poisoned words.
Anna couldn't figure out what he is saying.
"You must be thinking how did I even got to know about your sick plan dammit. I saw you shaking hands with those doctors and smiling. You always wished Fiona's bad but now you have done it too....bravo." he finished clapping and moving away from her to Fiona.
"Does shaking hands and exchanging smiles means someone is plotting against your wife?" she asked breathing heavily.
"No, but how could you smile in such circumstances. At moments you show like you care a hell lot but then you are smiling as if everything is fine and good."
"It's called being social. They are doctors and nothing more." she said clenching her teeth in pain and anger.
" You are just as bad as everyone always told about you." he said squeezing her arm.
She was standing there with burning with anger and an undeniable urge to slap him hard but shaking off this urge she looked at him fiercely. There was nothing left to say or ask to him. Forcing his hand to loosen his grip and getting herself out of his hands, and he losen up her arm she pushed him back and rushed out of the room straight to her car. Throwing her bag inside and closing the door with a thud she sat in there with fuming body, a heavy head, racing heartbeat and thoughts circling in her mind. The sun has alrrady went down and the evening winter sky is all gloomy and dark although it's quarter by 4. The chilled air helped in calming her down slowly and when her breathing normalised down she started the car and left.
She always felt that being nice is harmful for oneself and today's example is one of it. She was being good to them even though they had such bitter past memories then also she was trying to of some use to them in time of misery but as always Marcel found fault in her only. Even today after all these years she is at wrong for him.
She still didn't know what's her fault but she surely knew that being good to him is of no use. It will bring more and more emotional and mental damage to her and nothing else. And now she is not going to allow herself get damage by this stupid person.
She reached home by 8pm after spending hours alone in her car by the roadside and went straight to her room still crying but she didn't want her sister to see her this way. She went in for a shower but still all she could think was his words his actions his behavior. She cried and cried heartily. This is is first time in such long time had she cried this much and that too again because of Marcel. As far as she remembers whenever she had cried the reason behind it was always Marcel.
"Sis you home... Come I'll get the dinner served we'll dine together." Liz said knocking the bathroom door.
Listening her sister she cleared her throat and replied,"Yeah I'm coming."
Wearing her robe as she came out and Liz was standing right in front with folded arms looking straight towards Anna knowing something surely had happened.
"Is everything fine there? Your eyes are swollen up like hell Anna what happened?" She took her to the bed and sat with her. She looked concerned but also worried.
"Yeah everything is fine." Anna replied avoiding eye contact.
"Did he said something?" Liz ask suspiciously as she knew Marcel's behaviour towards her.
Looking towards Liz she broke into tears and hugging her tightly she sobbed and said, "He said I planned to kill Fiona."
"Wasn't it appropriate for you to have done this years ago? Why would he even dare to think that you will be doing such?" she said angrily.
" I don't know what is wrong with him. Why am I always at fault for him even today."
Liza didn't said anything but kept consoling her sister because she know nothing is suitable to be said at the moment as she is already in much pain.
She kept consoling her and she kept sobbing.
