Chapter 228 - The Assassin and The Sage

Jaquinn activated the runes of his sword as he prepared himself for combat. The Harbinger immediately lunged forward to which was easily dodged and parried. In that slight opportunity, Jaquinn slipped his way to make a counterattack by smoothly slicing through the curved blade the harbinger had. But just as he had expected, the harbinger managed to dodge by lowering himself even further to avoid the attack entirely. Jaquinn took notice of the somewhat ambiguous interpretation, and realized that he could create various threats after making that kind of a dodge. He distanced himself, but the harbinger immediately caught up to him. In that second, Jaquinn had received multiple visions of him taking hits, all of which happen nearly at the same time. It was then he understood that the threat he's facing is something he has to get serious for.

"[Open timeline]." Everything in the world stopped, including himself. Jaquinn looked over the timelines and looked for which timeline that allowed him to receive minimal damage. Thus, looking at each bubble, he chose how he would respond to the threat of the enemy. "Ghh!!" He took slight damage from his left shoulder and the right side of his hip. Noticing how he managed to take minimal damage, the harbinger stepped back a bit in preparation for a retaliation, or that's what Jaquinn thought. He quickly made his move by erasing every bit of perception around him, forcing the harbinger to make use of the premonition ability. "This is where I have to dispose of you, harbinger." "Heh, if only you ca-" In that second, the harbinger received a premonition that he receives an attack from behind. As he moved to try and block the attack, he was suddenly stabbed in both shoulders, and his back. Jaquinn then materialized behind him. "Phew... This ability can be really taxing... But for now, I'm sure you'll retreat with this." The harbinger's wounds suddenly expanded greatly which he realized that he will lose if it keeps up, thus he creates a boundary and escapes through it. "I didn't think it would be this simple... Well if I was alone it would've taken a longer amount of time to get rid of him alone, right Harold?" Harold was standing by on top of a tree. "I'm rather surprised that you didn't get a chance to make use of the effect off your runic blade rather. Was the enemy that tough?" "Well, if it weren't for your ability to cast magic that cannot be perceived even by premonition, I wouldn't have any wounds to expand with [Boundary Magic]." "Heh, seems like you've gotten used to it already though. Anyways, [Country Scan]!" Harold immediately used magic, scanning the entire country in that second. "As expected, nothing gets past you..." "Well, the enemies are underground, and it seems like Arlesk is gonna find something he won't like there." "Yep, nothing gets past you." "Hah, go report what happened to Oswald, I'll take care of the report to Serkyrio." "Alright."

Harold quickly left through a portal after telling Jaquinn that the harbinger went underground. With nothing to do but report, he held back for a while since he was somewhat interested in other outcomes.

"[Timeline Assimilation], [Close Timeline]." And in that instant, every bit of memory from other timelines had merged into him. He received every injury that he could've taken if he were to fight the harbinger without the final support of Harold.

Injuries from around his body, light that has ability to cut the body, and being planted fake premonitions and baited to taking what he thought was the correct play. While all such processes lead to the same result of pushing the Harbinger away, he would've been walking on a tightrope if he had chosen a different result.

"This ability is really nasty..." Being able to see how he responded to his injuries, Jaquinn gave a bit of a call to Harold. "For you to call? You got some questions?" "Is [That] ready?" A long silence passed by before Harold answers, as he realized that Jaquinn's tone sounded desperate. "Not yet, by the time you return, it's likely. This kind of magic is something even Draxus doesn't know, but with the data we gathered, we are able to learn every possible threat against us. However, we need data from those [Harbingers], we only got data for the one you fought. The one that the [Sentinel of Arcana] encountered however, seems to be a tough job." "Tough job you say? Why's that?" "The one she fought caused her to lose memories of the battle, the only way to find out her ability is that somebody else should witness it. But the thing is, even those who witness it will forget her abilities, because there's no concept of it in the first place." "Abilities without concept huh? That's annoying." "Anyways, you sound like you really want to train harder for eventual encounters..." Jaquinn started walking while taking the call. In the meantime, Harold who is already in the underground training facility which is more spacious than an entire soccer field, glanced over to a giant wall of containers. "Don't worry, with the data you have with your timelines and foresight, we'll be able to prepare the facility for you." "Got it, thanks." Jaquinn cut off the call, leaving Harold with a full wall of containers. "Setting up one of these requires a mana pool that's deeper than mine... Glad I have these containers..." Harold looked over the fifty thousand mana containers that he had filled up. He made preparations to finish setting up the arena that was instructed to him by Serkyrio before making a report about the emergency summon from Oswald and him finishing the task.

"Now then, feeding the data here... And then making the first test with Jaquinn's data of the Harbinger... [Simulation Magic], [Code: Harbinger of Premonition]" Harold generated of a simulated being in the arena. With the simulated barriers, any living being who enters it can now fight against a simulated opponent of whoever they like.

"With this, we now have a response against out lack of information against you bastards." Harold grinned as he ended the simulation magic and looked over to the capacity of the wall of containers. "Five were depleted huh...? I only had the simulation for a minute so... Around two hours and forty minutes..." With fifty thousand continues on the wall and most of which are filled up, Harold found himself satisfied with finishing the insane project. "Though filling up all of them is just the worst... I have the deepest pool of mana in the castle... But filling up used to take all of my mana." Harold then just shrugged his shoulders and went towards Serkyrio.
