Chereads / Isekai: The Eight Soul Fragments / Chapter 217 - No Bad Aftertaste

Chapter 217 - No Bad Aftertaste

Wesley is the kind of person that won't waste time in missions when alone. The main reason for this is because of his tendency for gaming. With his main competition being Keith regardless of anything, he wants to get back to finding ways to outdo his rival.

But with a mission to investigate the country of Temockria and it's hero, Wesley decided that he has to finish everything in a day.

He quickly arrived to the capital city, and immediately probed for information whether the hero had returned or not. That info easily came in as there was a sort of festival or welcoming that had happened. "It's nice when things go smoothly the way I want..." Wesley quickly disappeared from the crowd to avoid being caught by any soldier or guard.

He moved to a slightly darker place to summarize his initial information gathering. He learned various things just from simply taking a look at the behavior patterns of the citizens.

"Some citizens are quite arrogant, but will easily fold to try and curry favor when presented with money or valuables huh... And the slaves here are mostly kidnapped slaves rather than former criminals..." Wesley spat out to the side after drinking a beverage that was offered to him. "The country is said to be very prosperous and has nearly unlimited resources too, just like our country..." "Hey! Who the hell are you?!" Wesley heard yells coming from the entrance of the alleyway, which he quickly assumed to be guards. "Guess this alleyway will be crossed out huh...?" He considered going deeper into the path, but at the other end, he was met with more guards. "Yeah, this place is now unusable then." He swapped with a shadow that's placed in a different alleyway. The shadow that swapped with him started wall jumping and escaped to the rooftops. "Oi!" The guards that saw the spectacle, delayed their confusion as they had a bigger priority.

Wesley, who had already moved to a different alleyway brought out his map and crossed out one pathway. It was the alleyway that he had just used. "There's still about fifty of them, but I sure am unlucky huh...?" Wesley covered his nose as he had noticed the scent being slightly off. "Where the hell did I end up...? It reeks of body odor... Is there corpses or something...? No... The scent is different from a corpse..." Wesley slightly got distracted due to the scent, not because it was bad, but he felt somewhat pleasant with it. He explored the alleyway a bit and started walking around. It was then he turned a corner to a dead end. What he saw wasn't something he would enjoy.

"Holy shit, right on public..." A dirty, fat, old man was trying to force himself into three young girls, a little younger than Wesley's age for all three of them. Each of them wore a barely any clothing but that's not his concern. "Huh? A kid? What do you fucking want?" "Hmm? Me? Wesley pointed to himself as the old fatso tried to yell at him to leave. "Let's see... Those girls don't seem to be wanting what you're doing, how about letting go of them?" "These are my slaves! They're none of your business." Wesley realized in the situation that there could be some special marking that forces them to be silent. "You're right... It's none of my business to interfere with somebody's personal matters..." Wesley closed his eyes and shrugged his shoulders. This caused the girls to start feeling despair as the old fatso started blabbering. "It's been difficult to find chances to have a taste with these girls, they're a rare breed of sub-humans, and it's nearly impossible to find one that's yet to be tast-!" "However." Wesley opened his eyes and shot killing intent to the slave owner. "I don't really want to regret things..." "Tch... You're just a brat, yet going arrogant against a nob-!" The old fatso stood up to prepare a beatdown, but Wesley's movement never registered to him. "Wha-?!!!" "I was told by my leader to not mind other's businesses, but at the same time, to never leave with a bad aftertaste." "H-How...?!" A large cut on the fatso stomach was already opened before he knew it, and Wesley was already standing beside him. "So, for letting me see something that pisses me off, let me use you as an experiment for the newest magic my leader taught me." The blood that scattered was immense in amount, and it was considered impossible for that amount of blood to immediately release all at once. "Just..." In that moment, the fatso immediately realized, that his death will come in an instant. "Let me give you some advice that may be useful in your next life though. Maybe cut off some of that weight and try to focus in keeping your face in shape. I'll help you right now." Right as Wesley ended that sentence, the fatso gained another cut in the stomach that splashed out an immense amount of blood while also moving his position. "W-What power..." The fatso kneeled in both fear and pain, he glanced over to see Wesley's glare that showed him the amount of power he had. "A-Are you...?" "Hm... Since you're going to die anyway, I am Wesley Sirius. [Sentinel of Shadows], Executor of Preeliance, Vice Chief of the Sentinel Order." "S-So it's..." "Yes, our members really got played around by your hero before, your hero didn't really get the enjoyment that he wanted due to those losses though. But he has pissed off two of my great friends. So I've come to play this time." Wesley brought out his personal agenda for his mission. "Y-You..." "Of course, I will make it a fun time, only for myself though." The fat noble was gritting his teeth, trying to make Wesley think that he'll die from blood loss. "So this is my power, control of the shadows, artifacts, and then what you saw just now... Eternity, and instantaneous." In that instant, the noble's head flew towards one of the walls, without even being given a chance to shout for help.

"Now with that done, I guess I'll head back to work." "W-Wait!" Wesley was prepared to move towards the palace once again but was immediately stopped. "Hmm? There is no need for gratitude, I was simply trying to satisfy my mind from the displeasure that I witnessed." It then clicked to Wesley, as he realized the situation he's in right now.
