It was another day that Draxus had decided to move around. He already had moved around with all of his fiancés together one time, and another time for each one of them on certain days. This time, he's escorting Matilda around the city.
"It's truly magnificent on how people can construct buildings like these. Does this world truly never relied on magic?" Matilda was looking over a great view of the entire city from a place that Draxus often visited during his days in Earth. "Yeah, before we were summoned, humanity here relied on science and technology to create buildings like these. Despite the great progress of technology, there had also been wars that were fought all in a distance. There was not a single shred of mercy involved in the battles, but after the wars, this world did improve greatly." "So there's not many people who use swords here?" Draxus nodded to Matilda's question, since she is a knight, she was somewhat expectant to learn about swordsmanship in another world. "There aren't any powerful arts here anymore. But being under Serkyrio gave me enough information to uncover some old arts though." "Won't that make him a complete connoisseur in everything?" "Well, that's what I think about him." Their conversation started to derail a little bit and laughed. Afterwards, their conversation turned slightly serious for once. "Hey Drax..." Draxus pulled Matilda closer and wrapped one of his arms around her shoulder as they continued to gaze over the city. "Thank you once again, for that time..." She reminisced the time when Paladia was attacked by Bovoyna's forces. As she continued to recall one of her major failures. "I should be thanking you, for actually being the one that helped me so much on stopping the [Destroyer]." Draxus closed his eyes as he remembered the feelings that the soul had. However, Matilda simply smiled as she rest her head on Draxus's shoulder.
"Princess Matilda..." Pantheon was speaking with the Prince of Paladia as he glanced over to see Matilda somewhat downhearted. "She's been like that for the past few days wasn't she?" Pantheon and the Prince were talking about the sudden attack by Bovoyna that they haven't responded to yet. They were planning on how to fight through the forces of Bovoyna who had their morale maximized with their Hero attacking them. "Fighting the Hero will be very difficult, even at my full power." "I see, then how will we fight against them to push them away from the town?" Pantheon pondered for a bit and made a quick suggestion to the Prince. "We'll need reinforcements then... We have to tell the king to send the acceptance of the long-time waiting alliance invitation from Quisterion. They'll likely send troops and even their hero Ulysses to us. With two heroes, we have a chance to fight against the [Hero of Balance]." Pantheon and the Prince were slightly hopeful that they will have a chance to fight against the enemy Hero that has more experience killing other heroes.
Matilda joined the raid to reclaim the land that was taken from them. Both sides hold about more than five thousand men, but considering that the hero of Bovoyna has greater experience in combat, there was no chance that they could equalize the battle easily. They intended to get rid of the army beforehand and try to eliminate the hero while waiting for reinforcements. However, just as they were about to set up their attack...
"Pincer attack! Hold the lines!" The army of Bovoyna took the group by surprise, they had made preparations to create a space that would help them set up a good place to fight the enemy from. But they were attacked by a small portion of a thousand men in a pincer attack. With a small time to react, they managed to survive, but lost more men than the attackers. With the numbers being less now, they can no longer go for a full on attack.
"Damn it... With numbers to their advantage, they're going to be set on attacking again soon. We didn't even eliminate all one thousand men, so we've only made a dent in the attack." Paladia's knight army are actually trained to the point of capability to fight with perfect coordination. However, they're still a standard army, fighting enemies that have caught them by surprise may provide some trouble. "At this rate..." Pantheon grit his teeth as he regret the decision to bring Matilda into the battlefield. That regret only skyrocketed as the Princess of Paladia was attacked directly by the Hero of Bovoyna.
"Ho? The [Hero of Chivalry]? Was your presence so weak that I didn't notice you existing here right now?" Pantheon didn't think about anything else but to protect the royal family that he was meant to watch over.
In Matilda's view, she realized something major after she was rendered unable to fight just from the sheer pressure of the enemy hero. It was then she realized something big.
In the many years of her life, she trained herself to become a proper knight that will protect the people, but considering how the hero easily stopped her from even making a move, she felt that everything might've been a waste. "If only I was stronger..." Those words crossed her mind, as she continued to linger on hope. The hero of Bovoyna, left the area after knocking out Matilda's consciousness. He then brought her to the army which was currently setting up in a town for an attack.
When she woke up, she was just outside of a cage to be displayed to all the men. Her clothes and armor were somewhat damaged, and she felt that all hope is lost. She tried to resist but the collar had inflicted a huge amount of pain towards her. She could hear people getting attacked, metal clashing against metal, it turned into a forced attack of war from the outside. She thought that she was no longer able to see her family, and had decided to give up. However...
"[Fortune Card IV - Emperor]!" A young man shouted as he raised a card to take the attention of everybody. She was pushed into the cage and locked up just before the commander of the army got knocked away. He then unlocked the cage after creating a key with ice magic and entered. Her vision was blurry with tears, but there was one distinct feature that she could never forget. The glowing eyes... "There's no need to worry..." Magic circles appeared from thin air to crack open the collar, and immediately dismantled it. "I, Draxus Heimdal, will protect you." After she felt the warmth of his hand on her head, her vision finally cleared up. A young man named Draxus Heimdal, was wearing combat-ready armor that is made for nothing but sheer combat. He turned to face the incoming army that were angered when he freed the princess. "Come at me!"
There was no words on how he is able to fight against a thousand men alone. He could be a hero, who is capable of fighting armies alone, but there was no such indication for him to be like that. He fights using chantless magic, creating swords and has his own techniques, and uses various elements to his advantage. But there was one thing that she had realized. The power he uses was protecting her from any harm. After eliminating almost every single enemy around, amounting to two thousand, he fell to his knees with a sinister smile, indicating his victory despite in a fatal situation of being attacked. Matilda was about to make her move to protect him, but before she knew it, another person appeared right in front of them to knock away all five men. "Perfect timing as always Keith."
Remembering what had happened nearly a year ago felt like yesterday to Matilda. As that was one of the events that had changed her life completely, she never looked back to it with fear. But her view towards Draxus, who fought while protecting her from everything, was something that she had always been hoping for.
