Chapter 11 - Rain On The Queen's Parade

The silence that followed the crashing sound of glass shattering as soon as it made contact with the floor was deafening. For a moment, everyone was frozen to their spots, mouth agape. When they all finally snapped out of their daze, the queen rose to her feet with her eyes burning with anger. Her gorgeous light blue dress had wine stains on it and the silverish- blue liquid that was also now staining the previously spotless marble floor was proof that the glass shards had injured her. The king rose to his feet, knowing that his wife was about to do some real damage to his daughter-in-law.

"Clarice, calm down. It was an accident. Right, Hazel?" the king said and Hazel nodded, her eyes glinting mischievously.

Prince Caden's gaze met Hazel's and he frowned when he realized that there was nothing remorseful about her. If anything, she looked like she had hurt the queen on purpose.

"Hazel, apologize to my mother, will you?" He said and she cleared her throat.

"Of course, I will"

Hazel then turned to look at the queen and gave her a mock bow.

"My apologies, your majesty. I'm really sorry for accidentally hurting you. I am quite clumsy, you know. I do hope you won't get another dose of clumsiness from me" she said and settled down on her chair while the maids attended to the queen.

"You call that an apology?" the queen demanded, her eyes already glowing.

"My bad. I don't know what else you want from me in the name of an apology, your highness" Hazel drawled and the queen immediately conjured icy magic. Without hesitance, she channeled it towards Hazel. Yuka didn't need to move. He instantly conjured a mental shield around Hazel, which deflated the Queen's attack.

"Enough, Clarice. She apologized already" the king said with a cold voice. Trembling with rage, the queen stormed out of the dinning room, leaving ice trails in her wake. The temperature of the room dropped by several degrees and Hazel rose to her feet.

"I'm not hungry anymore, I'll like to retire to my room now" she said to the king.

"It's alright. Have a goodnight"

"Goodnight, your majesty. Yuka, can I have a word with you?" She said and Caden stiffened in his chair.

"Whatever it is, you can say it right in front of us" he said and she blinked.

"Really, Caden? I just want to talk to your brother, that's it. Come on, Yuka"

Yuka rose to his feet and followed Hazel out of the dinning room.

"Are we being followed, right now?" Hazel asked and he shook his head.

"Good. I need you to go to my brothers right away. I have a bad feeling about the queen" Hazel said and Yuka sighed. "They live with my father in Anslem. My father lives on the top floor of the five-o-forty building"

Yuka raised a brow.

"Five-o-forty building? What's that?"

"It's the tallest skyscraper in Silvera and it's where the generals and top officials live. Well, it's basically the only skyscraper left ever since the last war we had. It's really not hard to locate. It's at the center of the capital"

"Fine. If I actually get there before the queen's men, how on Earth am I supposed to convince them to come with me? And where am I going to take them? As far as the queen has placed a kill order on your family, she's going to burn down the whole place just to make sure she gets what she wants"

"You can convince them, I know you can. We just need to think of a place where she won't be able to find them. Somewhere she won't think of sending her men to"

"There's only one place..." Yuka said and Hazel's eyes lighted up.

"Really? Where?"

"Galactica"

"That's it. Your people don't have anything against red bloods, do they?"

Yuka scoffed.

"We are very friendly people, Hazel. It's just that other people misunderstand us and fear us. We only become vicious when we are under attack"

"That's great to know. If you'll do this for me, I'll be really grateful" Hazel said to him and he smiled.

"I know"

"Are you feeling better now?" She asked.

"I'm okay. I'll leave now and if my brother comes looking for me, tell him to fuck off"

Hazel grinned at him.

"I'll do just that"

She watched him as he flipped on his hood and opened a portal to Rubia.

"Don't miss me too much, Haze" he said with a wink. Then, he vanished along with the portal.

....

Anslem, Rubian Capital.

2030

Shade Spiers paced the length of his father's study, trying to figure out a way to get his sister out of the Silveran palace. He couldn't accept the fact that he wouldn't get to see her again. "Shade, can you not pace back and forth? It's making me dizzy" Trey said and their father sighed.

"I'm really sorry, Boys. This is all my fault-"

"That's right! It's all your fault! Now, we have to figure out a way to get her out of Silvera and bring her home" Shade said and General Barron shook his head and lowered himself onto his chair with a distressed look on his face.

"Hazel has accepted her fate. There's nothing we can do"

"I don't believe you" Carl spat, his fists clenched.

"You won't be doing your sister any good by plotting to break into the palace"

They all turned to look at the figure that was standing by the door of the study, wearing a hooded black cloak. "Who are you? How did you get in here?" Shade asked, drawing out his dagger. The intruder moved his hood away from his head and they all moved backwards when they saw his violet eyes.

"My name is Yuka. Your sister sent me here to deliver an urgent message to you"

General Barron rose to his feet with a frown on his face.

"How are you here right now? How do you even know my daughter? You're a black blood. How did you enter Silvera?"

Yuka rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, I get that a lot. Your lives are in great danger. The queen of Silvera has sent assassins to murder you and you have to leave right now"

The triplets exchanged bewildered glances.

"How do we know you're not lying?" Trey asked, his eyes narrowed. Yuka let out an exasperated sigh and using his mind's eye, he displayed what was going on outside, on the wall of General Spiers study, like a projector.

Eight men were trying to break into the front door of their apartment. General Spiers immediately went pale.
