"Wait for me Kiba!"
Involuntarily, Rada did not notice that he had used his voice to speak. Kiba looked at him with threatening eyes.
(You want to expose us!?)
Rada plugged his mouth with his hands.
(Sorry, sorry!).
Fortunately no one was nearby, not even from the cave there seemed to be any signs of movement. The two of them breathed a sigh of relief and walked into the cave.
It was completely dark inside, so Rada took out his mobile phone and switched on his torch.
(Good thing I brought it with me!) he was proud of his choice.
But his choice was immediately rejected by the puppy.
(Hey, you don't want to go in that light, do you?)
Kiba's face darkened.
(Because if that's the case, we might as well shout our position to the four winds!)
Rada stood stunned like an idiot, how could he not think of such a thing?
(You're right...) he scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.
Looking at him, Kiba sighed before speaking, "We have a Link remember?" his aura passed through the boy's body.
(Focus the energy towards your eyes.)
Rada took a deep breath and closed her eyes, moments after opening them again there was a bright, deep light inside her eyes.
(Wow! I can see everything!)"
It was an incredible feeling, everything around him became more vivid, even the darkness no longer seemed so penetrating.
(So that's how you see the world, amazing... thanks puppy!) He ruffled the puppy's soft coat full of enthusiasm...
(Hey! Knock it off, will ya?! And don't call me puppy! Hmpf!) seeing the treatment the puppy almost regretted helping him.
(In time, you'll hopefully learn to do it yourself), he said sullenly shortly after.
So, having solved the problem, the two of them headed back into the cave.
(Ugh, what a nauseating smell...) said the boy, holding his nose.
The cave seemed to be bigger than it appeared from the outside. From the long corridor they were standing in came a rancid stench that was becoming more and more intense.
(Kiba, how can you not be affected by this stench?)
The pup ignored her complaints with indifference, still looking sullen, and decided to keep quiet and put up with the stench.
A little further on they found animal remains.
(I really think we won't find a dog.)
Examining the remains, Kiba's eyes sharpened as he seemed to have sensed something.
(I guess not...) the gruesome scenario made Rada feel sick to his stomach.
(Do you have any idea what it is?) he asked with a disgusted face.
(Uhm... a large beast, sharp claws, strong jaw, sharp teeth...)
To the general amazement, the boy listened to the puppy at his side. He had the impression he was listening to a detective examining a crime scene.
(A smilodon!) said Kiba.
(A smilodon? You mean a sabre-toothed tiger!) Unconsciously, Rada felt a chill run down his spine.
In his world, the smilodon was a prehistoric creature, extinct millions of years ago. Ne.
In modern society it was called the sabre-toothed tiger and was one of the most dangerous predators of its time.
(Sabre-toothed tiger? I guess that's what it's called in your world) Kiba replied. He looked doubtful at first, but then remembered where Rada came from.
(Yes, although it has been extinct for millions of years, in my world it was a much-feared creature in its time.
I'm surprised that in this world you call it a smilodon) Rada's tone was a mixture of concern and surprise.
(Anyway, let's get on with it) Kiba left the corpses behind and continued on.
(Huh? You want to continue? I think it's a stupid move, anyone who sees these remains can easily understand how dangerous the beast in this cave is, and you want to go on anyway?) the boy said, expressing his disagreement.
(Tsk, it's just an overgrown cat!) said Kiba in a dismissive tone, not even turning to look at his dumbfounded expression.
(I have no words...) Kiba's words almost sounded like a joke, yet for some reason he couldn't laugh at it.
(Sigh... this puppy...)
Rada slowly shook his head and sighed.
He and the pup continued on into the depths of the cavern, resigned to whatever reality was coming their way.
The duo continued deeper into the cavern, the walls growing wider and larger as they neared the end.
However, Kiba noticed something strange...
(What is it now?) Rada asked.
He stopped short behind him.
(Something's wrong), replied the cub, meanwhile pinning his ears back for suspicious signs.
(There's an unusual silence...) Rada looked around, though he didn't know exactly where to look.
The interior of the cave was filled with animal remains, but there seemed to be human bones as well.
Suddenly, Rada sensed something behind her.
Instinctively, "Behind!" he somersaulted forward without a second thought.
"Groarrrr!"
From the darkness a deafening roar followed razor-sharp claws aimed at her back.
Rada turned quickly losing sight of Kiba, in front of him, the silhouette of a large animal became more and more vivid.
Sharp, protruding teeth, claws like blades, an imposing mass of muscle...
Rada was now certain that there was a sabre-toothed tiger in the flesh before him.
The tiger did not continue its attack, although it had failed the first blow, it remained alert.
He knew there were two intruders, surprisingly, but the cub disappeared from his field of vision.
After a moment of bewilderment, Rada tried to take control of his emotions.
His heart, which was initially beating wildly, calmed down as the seconds passed, he had no idea where Kiba had disappeared to, but could feel his closeness.
(Get his attention!)
Shout Kiba in his mind.
(Attract his attention?) Rada's face suddenly twitched.
Was he supposed to attract that inhuman beast? In what way then? At that moment he cursed the pup in every language he knew and tried to come up with an idea;
Pulling out his bow and arrows he prepared to shoot, not before he had made his prayers.
The tiger, as it watched his movements, sharpened its eyes like two blades. Murderous intent began to pervade the air and a strange light was glimpsed from inside its mouth.
Rada's eyes widened at the sight, "What the hell!" he exclaimed.
He fired an arrow involuntarily, which bounced off the tiger's head. However, it had no effect; on the contrary, the beast's murderous gaze revealed its mockery of the human in front of it.
The light in its jaws became more and more concentrated, electrical discharges aggregating with the light.
Rada with no way out, could only watch the scene almost helpless, all he could think about was how to dodge the blow.
Stiffening its paws on the ground, the tiger prepared to launch its deadly blow, but at that moment something happened.
The two opponents saw a light appear at their side and dart towards the large animal.
The beam of light was so fast as to be almost imperceptible.
The tiger immediately sensed that something was wrong, but it was too late.
The beam of light struck its throat, exactly where it was concentrating its blow from.
"Boom!"
The electric ball exploded inside the tiger's mouth, creating a huge roar that echoed through the cave.
Rada covered his ears and took cover.
Shortly after the situation seemed to have calmed down, earth and smoke still infested the air. However, something could be seen: the sabre-toothed tiger was lying motionless on the ground.
The young man slowly approached and then poked the beast with an arrow.
"Hey, look it's dead."
Not far away from him, Kiba made his appearance again, he looked calm, as if he had just returned from an outing.
"Dead!? So easily!?" he replied, shocked.
He opened his eyes wide at the abnormal puppy at his side and began to break out in a cold sweat.
(I'd better not tease him from now on!)
