"Sometimes the untitled relationships are the most beautiful ones."
❣
Mouse died in her mouth.
Someone is jabbing her head, beating her to death.
Or that's what it seemed like.
The crisp sun rays sneak through the window, pouring right on her eyes, making them shine like gold. She groans in irritation and clasps her head. Why did I drink too much? Wait. How the hell I was sleeping so peacefully? Wasn't I supposed to...
"FUCK!FUCK FUCK! NO! IT CAN'T BE HAPPENING! SHIT!" the blasphemous words jump from her mouth as she springs out of the mattress. Her heart pounds in fear looking at the room she is in. The sky blue and white textured walls and plain dark blue curtains, complementing the greyish furniture. The tall, heavy, varnished wooden burst open making her flinch.
He brags in like the fresh waves of the ocean.
"Ocean eyes?" she gawks at him, flabbergast. The burly images flashed in her mind, tilting her head she wordlessly stares at him as slowly the pieces starts to form sense.
With every memory of the previous night, her feet dug in the floor, until she finds herself bypassing the crust, inner core heading straight to the mantle of earth where hot lava of embarrassment burns her. She grunts burying her puffy face in her tiny hands. It wasn't even a day that she met this guy and yet she is in his apartment. Not to mention that he is the brother of her asshole ex. Gosh, she needs to get away from him before the embarrassment kills her.
"Nothing happened. I swear! You just drank, ate fried chicken, fake cried, sang, screamed, puked, and slept," he shortly says, stuffing his hands in the pockets of his pants.
"I ate what!!" the panic boats her voice, hands flying to cover her mouth.
"Chicken?"
"What the fuck! I am vegetarian!" she growls and again fists her head in her hand. Why did I drink?
"Well, you said it's tasty," the man with ocean eyes mumbles, stuffing his hands in his pocket and biting his lower lip nervously.
"I want to bleach my mouth, " She sighs, "Anyways, I can't have a conversation with you. Let's be clear. Thanks for welcoming my ass into your apartment. Sorry for the trouble. Warn your brother not to show me his face and..... let's not see each other again," her cold voice was barely recognized by her, avoiding eye contact. Kaiser just stands motionless, watching the girl sigh in frustration again and again. She grabs her phone from the table then sprints out of his apartment like a thunderbolt.
"Hey! You don't have your bra on and nor pants! Get dressed Dr. Bellona!" he yells behind her running figure.
Halting dead in tracks, she touches her most possessed part, screaming internally. Stomping into his apartment, Kaiser offered the girl an amused smile and her clothes along with the purse.
"I will let you get dressed," he walks back into his room, giving her privacy.
Why he was being so nice even when I was rude?
Assaulting her lower lip with her teeth, she precipitously clasped her bra. Another frustrating sigh ripples through her when she notices his clothes draped around her body.
"Dr. Bellona, if you are going to the hospital I will drop you. I am going to meet my friend," his deep smooth voice like an endless dept of the sea echoes through his room.
I will just be shameless and take his offer because once I reach the hospital, I am gonna die anyway.
"Okay, you can step out," she wraps her hair in a messy bun with a pencil, hair tie was nowhere to be found.
He steps out, clad in a dark blue button-up, sleeves rolled up and top three buttons are undone, and white tight jeans hugging his legs in all right places. All the panic thoughts fade from her brain when the fresh scent of the sea illuminating from him embodies her. His messy hair appears damp and curled in locks, he is so handsome that her mind was getting ruined.
"Now, aren't you late?" the man smirks and taps his wristwatch, obvious to the fact that she checked him out. Bellona doesn't respond as she turns and walks to the door. He follows her out of his apartment. Inside the elevator, she stands far away from him. His scent starts occupying her mind and honestly, that's the last thing she should be thinking at a moment. He led her to his car and both clambers in. Bellona keeps checking her phone, almost drops it, looking at the 103 missed calls and 58 messages. The anxiety slowly slithering in her and beads of sweats forms on her forehead. How could I be so erratic?
The car ride stills in deathly silence The thick tension hanging between her and the man who his dear brother of her ex, suffocated her. No wonder he looked familiar in the elevator. Even though she was having a mini cardiac seizure, her eyes couldn't help but notice his features. Sun-kissed his tan skin making it glow, his raven silk hair danced with the gust of wind, baring his forehead. His enigmatic eyes are stabilized on the street ahead. His body appears stiff just like her.
When they arrive at the hospital, she flees out of his car.
"Thanks," she mumbles in a low voice and gallops inside the glass building without even glancing at him. Not bothering waiting for the elevator, her panic legs trot upstairs to O.R. Some nurses and interns greet her but she has to ignore them and scramble towards the operational room.
Bellona peeks through the glass window that she was replaced by another doctor. She was supposed to assist the Chief in Lumpectonomy surgery. She was anticipating this surgery for days. Sitting on the seat, face buried in her hands. It's was an important surgery for her.
Her phone buzzes, she swipes her finger across the screen, "Hello, mom," she says in low voice.
"Bella, what happened? Why you sound like that?"
The concern is evident in her mother's voice. Bellona felt embarrassment and remorse drenching her every cell, she didn't even inform her mother where she was. She irresponsibly drank and crashed at the stranger's house. She ditched her work and, her patient. How the hell I became too immature?
"Bellona, say something. You are scaring me. Are you hurt? Should I come to and pick you up?"
"Mom, I missed the surgery. I drank too much yesterday and woke up late," still glad that her voice sounds fine.
"Oh, Bellona don't be sad. Apologize for your mistake and assure them you will work hard. Don't let these things get you down. I am proud of you that you are saving lives. Okay?"
The best thing is when your mom is your best friend. When you can sincerely share about the things which have been swallowing your sleep, messing up your mind, and taking away your peace. Ariel has always been a best friend to her daughter and Bellona can't thank her enough for that.
"Thanks, Mom. I will be home soon," she says, her eyes flick to the red light that turned off, indicating the end of surgery.
"Don't forget to eat. You need the energy to whisked around"
"Okay mom, I will call you later. Bye!"
In haste, she disconnects the call and stands as her Chief steps out. When he sees her, his jaw clenched in anger.
"In my office, now Bellona," his gravelly calm voice rings in her ears, she nods. She ambles into his office and dawdles for him as he tidied up, silently hoping he would go easy on her.
He wipes his damp hands on the towel and settles on his black leather seat with a black stare at Bellona. He intimidates her. When she first applied here for the job, he was the one who interviewed her. He liked the discipline and consider work the foremost aspect of his life and Bellona admire him to be honest. He is young, around 30 ( she thinks), and yet he is the chief of their department.
"You better have a good excuse, cause the stunt you pulled Dr. Bellona, is the meagerest thing doctor could do. How could you not show up?" he asks, venom and disappointment dripping in his tone.
"It was a mistake Chief," her head hung low, not daring to look at him.
Tyler bangs his palms on his desk and stands, "A fucking mistake? Seriously Bellona? That's all you can come up with?"
She dwells in silence, biting her tongue hard so she won't run her mouth.
"I can't believe that you were so much immersed in your love life that you failed your commitment as a doctor," he scoffs, sitting at the edge of his desk and that hit her nerve.
"Excuse me Chief, you can't point out my personal life. I admit I did commit a serious mistake but you don't have any rights to talk about my personal life," she states, maintaining eye contact with him, challenging the fire in his eyes and the harshness of his tone.
He frustratedly runs his hand through his brown hair and sighs, "I can talk about it if it's your affecting your work."
"Chi-
"We are done with this conversation. For one week you will work night shifts on the 13th floor and take care of patients. Especially look after the VIP patient. I expect reports to be perfect. A single mistake and you are in deep trouble, Dr. Bellona. You can leave," he motions at the door.
"Tyler, thank you for your kindness," she spits gritting her teeth. He raised his eyebrows as the fuming girl turns and burst out of his office. Another sigh escapes his lips.
"Did she even eat silly girl," Tyler mumbles and makes a call.
"Please, deliver a cup of ginger tea and sandwich or something in Dr. Bellona's office," he speaks on call.
"Yes, Chief."
Hanging up, Tyler stares at the door from where she stormed out.
I am fine, Bellona texts in the group, and forthwith her phone buzzes with a call.
"Hello," she plainly says.
"Hello? Chum chum! Godammit! Where the fuck were you! Tyler almost flipped the whole surgeon department. Are you fine? Did something happened?" Logan shoots the question like bullets.
"I am fine. I met Tyler. He said I have to work the night shift for a week and I have to take care of patients on the thirteenth floor," she idly walks into her office.
"Okay, that's not too bad. I am in charge of the thirteenth floor so be glad. Come up quick and don't forget to ring Lexi! Gotta go" he hangs up.
Before getting started, She changed into her uniform and use my mouth fresher as she didn't even brush her teeth. A lock on the door and a nurse steps in.
"Morning Dr. Bellona, here," smiling, nurse place the tea and cinnamon rolls on her desk. To Bellona, the nurse seemed like an angel who blessed her with the thing she loved most. Food.
"Thanks, Priya, I am really hungry, you always get me food at right time," Bellona gleams at the girl who smiles nervously.
After freshening up, Bellona walks inside the emergency unit with an intern.
She smiles at the little girl who will be soon going through brain surgery cause of Astrocytoma.
"Hello, sweetie," she sits on the stool beside the bed and smiles at the mother of the child. The Bellona smile offered wasn't sympathetic like most doctors' offers, but her smile was hopeful. The hope she provided the mother that she will save the piece of her heart.
"Hey doc," the little girl smiles widely, flashing the new red wig. Bellona laughs cause the girl is always inspired by Lexi. She likes hair colors like her best friend.
"You look good, sweetie," a stethoscope, she reviews her heartbeats. After checking her eyes and mouth and Bellona pats her head.
"You are all good"
"So I can leave soon?!" the little girl beams with happiness and looks at her mother, who was nearly in tears. Bellona's heart clench, the sight reminded her of her mother and dad. Bellona was a victim of cancer at the age of six. She can still recall her mother wailing outside her room screaming in pain, her father who silently cried. The relief and happiness they felt when Bellona was declared cancer-free is still undefinable.
"Of course. Take care," Bellona smiles at the duo of mother and daughter, then and moves to another patient. After checking up on all the patients, she strode to the VIP rooms.
"Who is the next patient?" she asks the intern with her, turning right through the foyers.
"James Grayson, he is a soldier," the intern replies.
Her heart drops and her mind travels to the man with ocean eyes. Before she knew it, she was right outside the room. Inhaling a deep breath, she knocks before stepping in. The room was crammed with fine boys. She wonders if she is in heaven cause the looks those boys possessed should be illegal. The boys blink like maniacs looking at her, but when her gaze locks with a blue gaze, she looks away.
"Hey, Bella!" Logan smiles at his best friend.
"What you are doing here?" Bellona nervously shuffles towards the patient.
"Just catching up with my friends. By the way, guys meet her, Dr. Bellona Ellis. My bestie!" he pulls her hair earning a smack from her.
"Hey, we already met yesterday. Nice to meet you again," a guy with golden-brown hair, smiles, she recognized him as Liam. Handsome just like Logan he had black eyes exact opposite of her best friend's pale blue eyes. Well-build just like a soldier must be, the charming smile exuding friendly vibes.
"So did we. Hey doc," the one with broad shoulders, waves his hand.
"Hello," Bellona smiles slightly and checks the patient's heartbeats. The amount of smiles she is shooting is surely gonna take all her energy. She solely avoids a particular person and focused on her patient. The chubby could feel James's eyes scanning her eyes then she hears him say, "You are very pretty"
"Thanks," she retort was simple, she doesn't glance at the young man and gesture the intern to hand over the syringe.
"God, how many syringes are you gonna shove inside me," James whines, sounding like a small baby.
"James, shut up and let the doc do her work," one of the guys says.
After she was done the guys still gape at her, making her feel a little uneasy. Of course, she was nervous, seven young hot men were staring at her and her awkward ass didn't know how to act. She was aware of the lack of social skills she possesses, so most of the time she aims to keep her mouth shut.
"Bellona, they are my brother's teammates. He is Austin, Alex, Adrian, Theo, James, that's my brother Liam and of course their Cap-
The door abruptly burst open interrupting their introduction. Bellona's eyebrows incline in a deep frown when Lexi brags in.
"What?" she keeps the files aside, looking at her best friend. Lexi pants for breath then bestows her with a vicious glare. Without any utterance Bellona raises her brows, urging her to speak. Lexi's eyes quickly sweep over the flock of handsome male models in the room and she straightens her coat, "We are gonna have a chat later but right now, Chase is making a scene. He wants to meet you,"
A sigh escapes from Bellona's chapped lips but she doesn't get astonished, she was expecting it "Logan, please check up on other patients. I will handle Chase."
If Chief saw him, I would get fired.
