Chapter 14 - Shopping 2.0

"What are we going to buy?" I asked him while looking at the cosmetics.

We're currently strolling in the cosmetics island. He still hasn't let go of my hand ever since we went inside the mall.

I smiled when I saw a lip tint section. I let go of his hand and went near the lip tints. I picked one of it and faced the mirror beside it. I put a little amount in my lower lip. I let my lips touch so the color would spread. When I was satisfied I turned around.

"Does it look good?" I asked.

Instead of answering my question, he walked towards me and interlocked his fingers with mine. He looked at our hands and played with it. I lowered my head and looked up to his face. I waved my hand in front of his face to get his attention.

"Hey, I asked you if it looks good," I repeated.

He straightened his back so I also straightened mine. I'm still looking up to him since he's much taller that me.

He slanted his head and creased his forehead. He looks as if he's studying my lips.

"What's the difference between that and the one you put on earlier?" he asked.

I laughed at his question. I looked at him again and he was pouting this time.

"Why are you laughing?" he asked in the tone of a child. He's even moving his shoulders up and down.

I shook my head but smile was still there. It's not my fault that I can't suppress it. I just went back to pick lip tint. I saw a lip tint that might suit Kris. I grabbed it and face Kris who was still playing with my fingers.

"Hey!" I called him. When he looked at me, I told him to come near me using my hand.

"Why?" he asked.

"Ah," I told him to open his mouth but not widely.

I tiptoed a bit to reach his lips. I applied some but didn't get to finish it because he put his face away.

"Why are you putting that on my lips?" he asked.

"Aiya, I have to try it on you because I'm going to use it for you," I explained then put some but enough amount of lip tint in his lips.

I spread the color using my finger to make it look gradient. I put my finger away when I was satisfied with the color. I grabbed the mirror so he can check the color.

"Do you think it suit you?" I asked.

He nodded while looking at his reflection seriously.

"Why do you look so serious?" I asked again.

He looked at me.

"Don't I look like a girl?"

His question made me laugh so hard but I have to laugh in a low volume. I sighed before picking a few more make- up supplies and a make-up box with a mirror inside.

"Wanna go there?"

He pointed the snack section. I nodded with the excitement visible in my face. He held my hand again and dragged me to the island.

"Pick whatever you want," he said.

I began strolling and getting the snacks I want. While picking, I noticed the workers moving boxes on top of the shelves. They're using large metal ladders climbs on it to put the boxes up. I just didn't mid it and continued picking snacks.

"Why don't you also pick one?" I asked him without looking at him.

"I don't eat those," I looked at him my my forehead creased, "They're unhealthy. I have to stay fit."

I created a small "O" shape with my lips and continued picking. I picked up two different snack and faced him.

"Pick one," I mouthed.

He got it right away and pointed the snack that is in my right hand. I threw it to the cart and picked again.

I heard the workers taking a deep breath as they were done with their work. I even hear the ladder creek as they were moving it.

"Iris!" Kris suddenly shouted my name.

I looked at him and saw him running to me. I was confused.

[Why is he running?]

Everything went slow motion. I found myself wrapped in his arms as we fall on the ground. I closed my eyes when a heard a metal hitting the ground. After a couple of seconds, I opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was a hand. I looked behind me. He's looking at me with a worried eyes.

"Are they okay?"

"What happened?"

"My gosh, blood!"

I sat on the ground and looked at my surroundings. The metal I heard earlier was the ladder falling on the ground. It was very near us. Good thing that Kris saved me.

"Are you okay?" he asked so I looked at him.

He nodded and looked at somewhere else. I followed his eyes and looked to where he was looking.

I gasped as I saw blood dripping out from my right knee. It suddenly hurt the moment I saw it. I looked at him with a teary eyes and pointed my knee. I even pouted.

"It hurts."

I feel like crying anytime now, but I can't. Not with those people staring at me... at us.

"I'm so sorry, Ma'am, Sir!!"

A woman in her thirties came to us with the workers behind her. She and Kris helped me up. I can't really move my feet because my knee is hurting. Kris seemed to understood that I'm in pain, he carried me. Bridal style.

People around us turned their backs. Some went to do their business again. Of course, except the woman and the workers.

"I'm really sorry about what happened," the woman repeated.

Kris didn't answer so I looked at him. His eyes were full of anger towards the workers. I reached out to his ear to whisper.

"Calm down, I'm okay," I said, "It just hurt a little bit but I'm fine"

His expression almost calm down when he looked at me. I gave him an assuring smile. He looked at the woman.

"We'll take full responsibility for her medical check-up———"

[Check up? It's just a wound!]

"It's our workers fault. I hope you won't sue us." The woman looked at the worker who was on the ladder earlier. "Apologize!"

The worker immediately stepped forward and bowed, ninety degrees.

"Please forgive me for causing trouble and accident," the other workers also bowed.

"Y- you don't h- have to do that," I said.

"All of the products you purchase will be on us. Just don't sue us."

[I think she's the manager]

"Okay."
