Chereads / Frosty Love / Chapter 3 - Chapter: 2

Chapter 3 - Chapter: 2

Leo

"Turn around Leo"

Every hair on my body, including my nose hair, rose.

I couldn't bring myself to turn around.

Come on don't be a coward. You are a police officer for God's sake. You have a gun anyway.

But a gun can't kill a ghost.

"You have a nice ass, I must say," the same frosty voice said.

It's not a ghost.

I don't know what I was expecting but it was not an enigmatic and surreal girl.

My breath got clamped. The first thing I noticed was her hair. Very long extraordinarily icy blue hair swaying in the breeze. Then her oceanic eyes met mine and I felt something aching in my chest.

What?

I held my hand over my chest, try to withstand the discomfort. Her marine eyes were glowing in an inhumane manner and I froze, swimming in dept of those enthrall intoxicating orbs. She was dressed in a long white dress, her shoulders were bare, her dress looked like hail and her skin was shimmering white as fresh snow. Her enticing, constellation-blue eyes gazed at me over her puffy, heart-shaped calamine pink lips. Even in the dark, her features were noticeable to me.

She took a step towards me, and I yanked my gun out in a millisecond., pointing it right at her.

Her lips parts and curve in a very tiny smile. My senses were barren for a minute.

"Killing the soul who just protected you? Not a way to say thank you, Leo," her voice was a subtle and somewhat sensual voice I have ever heard.

"How do you know my name?" I asked, trying to sound as natural as I can.

But man, I am about to pee in my pants.

"I know everything," she retorted, taking a step closer to me.

I pulled the trigger.

"This can kill you," I warned her.

"Maybe gun can. But you can't," she claimed, locking her eyes with me. I again felt an ache in my chest.

"Don't look in my eyes," her icy tone commands.

"Who are you?" I asked again, still looking into her eyes.

"You will know soon. There, your friends are," she gazed behind me and I see the lights of cars. It's probably my friends.

I twirled to look at her.

Ugh?

Where is she?

I frantically look around to see her.

Okay. Wait.

Where is the ice?

And the truck?

"Leo!" A voice cried. It was Owen

Two cars stopped one behind another. Owen and Ian strode towards me, worried.

"What the hell are you doing in the middle of the street in the middle of the night!?" Owen asked me.

I was too fazed by the things that happened in the past few instants.

"You okay Miles?" Ian touched my shoulder, bringing me out from the strings of thoughts.

"I am. I just thought I saw someone, nothing much. Let's go," I walk to my car, tugging the gun in my belt

"Where are others?" I asked.

"Logan and Aiden are looking on a different street for you, Austin and Jack went home to check if you are already there. You just suddenly evaporated and your phone was not reachable. We got anxious," Owen said, looking worried.

"I am sorry, let's get going. I am sure they are whooping my ass," I mumble and the two of them chuckled.

We walk towards our car, I was reluctant to get in. The voice is still fresh in my sense.

"Leo? What happened?" Owen asked.

"Um..n..nothing. I was just thinking," I said and jumped into the car.

Fuck it. Come what may!

Owen and Ian both get into their car and we started driving. I made sure to drive close to them. I clutched the gun harder in my hand and my gaze flicks over to the backseat now and then.

Once we reach home, I practically flee out of the car and drag myself inside our house.

"There he comes!" Jack exclaimed as soon as I step in.

"Leo!?" Aiden looks worried as he approached me.

"I am okay guys. I just thought there was something wrong on my way back so I stepped out to check," I told them.

"Be careful Leo. We are involved in the profession which can cost our life," Logan said, lowering the book which he was reading.

"It was comforting Logan" Austin shook his head. His eyes met mine and I am sure he saw me getting uneasy. He raised his brows asking me silently what happened. I just shook my head.

I certainly can't tell him hey-I-was-about-to-get-hit-by-a-truck-but-the-ice-spikes-saved-me-then-I-saw-a-mystical-girl-who-just-disappeared-along-with-the-ice-and-truck.

"Oh, by the way, you lost. Laundry for a month!" Ian sang.

I rolled my eyes.

"I will just go and sleep. I am not hungry," I mumbled and walk upstairs to my room. They didn't stop me which was good. I need to get my mind straight.

I took a long hot shower and sat on the bed, leaning against the headboard.

What was that?

Was I just assuming?

Was I dreaming?

It's doesn't even make sense when I put it all in words. It seems like a kid is spewing nonsense.

I closed my eyes, trying to sleep. I covered myself with four blankets. I have been feeling extremely cold since the weird incident.

Soon I drifted into my slumber.

You shouldn't be alive if you are thinking about her. I will kill you, even before she gets you.

My eyes fluttered open.

Wind.

Silhouette of bright white wind.

My heart pounded in my ears when the Silhouette of a woman with neon white eyes hovered over me. I screamed and pushed her away, I fell on the floor and crawl reversed, away from her.

Her neon stare obscured, even more, I stood and flee out of my bedroom.

"Austin!! Logan!! Wake up!" I screamed like a banshee banging on the wooden doors.

They won't hear you

The evil voice laughed.

I trotted downstairs, running straight to the front door. The door was locked. I tried to open it, but damn.

I turn around and pick the vase in hand, my gaze wanders around the house.

Where is that wind?

A dark chuckle echoed from behind me, and before I knew it, two hands burst through the front door fastening on my neck strangling me hard. My nerves exploded when I felt the nails digging in my neck, I screamed and try my best to free myself. I crashed the vase on the door, the next second I was smashed to the wall.

I whimpered loudly in pain, my ribs and bones broke I think.

With every ounce of my strength, I stumbled upstairs. Running to the rooftop. The cool gust of wind enveloped me, I staggered on the floor, breathing hard. I touched my neck with a trembling hand, the hot liquid was gushing down my collar bones.

What's going on?

Why this is happening?

There was a silence, all I could hear was my thumping heart, blood rushing in my veins, and the hustle of slow breeze. The buildings around me were glittering with lights, I gaze up at the night sky. The silvery-white moonlight sprinkled on the ground, there are screaming everywhere. The night's aroma pervades the air, woven into a soft net, covering all the scenery inside. But I was hating it all. It didn't seem beautiful to me, it was more like a gloomy night. The slow breeze gradually started moving fast, and my whole body tauten. I stand on my wobbly legs and look around. The wind hit me like a punch, making me stumbled back. I close my eyes and use my arms to cover my face. The dust made my eyes teary, I couldn't breathe. My body was pressed against the glass, the edge of the roof. The wind shoved me, and I flipped falling.

My mind was blank, as I was falling off the house. I cried out closing my eyes shut, ready to get my skull open and bones shatter in pieces.

I am not even married. I don't even have kids. Why I am dying so young?

Then abruptly I was suspended in the air. I open my eyes breathing hard. My body was slowly going up.

Leo, you are going insane, bro.

I was flying in the air, emerging up the roof again. My feet safely landed on the rooftop and my eyes go wide looking at her.

She is here.

The girl I met on a barren route.

"Second time I saved your ass in the past 3 hours," her snowy voice cooled down my hot trembling body.

She tilts her head slightly, her sea-deep gaze trails on my neck. She lifts her hand and wriggled her fingers, the various white stoned rings caught my attention.

I watch in utter disbelief, like a sprinkle of white dust danced on her fingers tips, she blew it towards me and intensively shield my face with my arms.

I felt the icy cool touch on my neck and I agonized in pain.

"Calm down boy, I just healed you," she told me.

I look at her and she was smiling in leisure.

I touch my neck and my collar bones. There was not a single trace of blood or pain resided. Our gazes collided and those eyes stole all my words.

Damn, your eyes.

"C-can I touch you?" I asked her.

Dumb, I know.

She snickered and extended her hand.

"If you can bear it, sure," she said.

I stare at her hand, debating what to do.

Maybe I will freeze to death or something worst might happen. But I don't care.

I want to touch her and see if she is real.

I slowly reach my hand, itching close to her.

Our fingers tips brushed and snowy waves rushed through me. I didn't flinch away. Just a little more, and our hands will be clasped together.

"Miles! Leo! Wake up, we have to go. There is a case," Ian's voice boomed in my ear.

I open my eyes bolting straight up.

"Geez, you are sweating like crazy in this cold," Ian said and touched my forehead.

"Your body is ice cold. What happened Leo? You are okay?" he asked nervously.

I am not.

I look around my room. I am safe. I am with my friends.

That was a dream. Yeah. Just. A. Nightmare.

"You are scaring me,  Leo!" He sits beside me.

"No-nothing Ian. Just I am a little sleepy," I said. My clothes were drenched in sweat.

He nods with a confused look and passed me a fresh sweatshirt. I toss the drenched fabric away.

"Let's leave. Other are ready?" I asked.

"They are. Jack already heard an earful from Austin to wake him up," he said.

Poor Jack. Thank God it was not my turn to wake him up this week. Austin loves his sleep, and he is very scared if we dare to interrupt his slumber.

I grabbed my ID and gun. I walked downstairs with Ian.

From today onwards, I will sleep with a gun tugged under my pillow.

Everyone was already waiting in their cars. I check the time it was 5:34 in the morning.

"Morning Leo," Jack chirps flashing his sunshine smile, which never fails to brighten me up.

I smiled back and we all get in our car. I turn the blue tooth piece on.

"Where are we going?" I asked in the piece.

"River Den,"  Owen said.

"Why?"

"Something weird happened," Logan said. I didn't inquire anything further.

What weird must have happened now?

We commenced driving straight to the River Den. The weather was so freaking cold. I should have grabbed my coat.

When we reached there were almost 5-6 people around, staring at the water in the atrocity. We approached them but when we peeked at the water, we all froze and our faces drain.

What the fuck?

I think what happened yesterday, was certainly not a delusion.
