Synopsis
Thalia Atwater was once just a simple traveler passing through the kingdom of Brethen. However, her life changed suddenly when she stopped an assassination plot on the king. Impressed by her skills, the king of Brethen invited her to live in the castle to be trained as a Silver Legionnaire, the elite soldiers chosen directly by the king to carry out tasks no one else is skilled enough to accomplish. Finally, Thalia's long and vigorous training has come to an end and she is inducted into the Silver Legion. Her only fear is that someone may find out what she truly is. If her abilites were revealed, she would be hunted down to be used for her power. She can't let that happen, not after the last time someone discovered her ablity. The rest of the world would see just how much of a monster she truly is. However, when Brethen is attacked and the castle taken by enemies searching for others just like her, Thalia finds herself on the run with the Prince Caelum, the second son of the king of Brethen. She soon comes to realize that her abilities may be the only way to save the kingdom and people she has learned to call home.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

The king stood in his chambers, looking out the window over the castle grounds. The beautiful garden below has begun blooming and he can't help but admire the beauty that the new life brings.

Only a little over two years ago, that garden was destroyed. Flowers were scattered about, trampled and crushed, and the earth was scorched from the fire that blazed all around.

Thinking back on that night brings a frown to his face. He was so close to completing the first step of his plan. But that retched girl ruined it all by taking her own life. If she would have just cooperated, he would have given her all the luxuries of royalty. All she needed to do was hand her power over to him. But alas, her life was needlessly lost.

Now, two years later, he has had no luck finding anymore of the others like her. He knows there are twelve of them altogether, but he has no knowledge of them. He doesn't know which ones are men and which ones are female, he doesn't know what each of their powers are, he doesn't know their locations, and he doesn't even know if they are all alive anymore. He has slowly been losing faith that his plans will ever come to fruition.

Suddenly, an urgent knock on the door brings the king's thoughts back to the present.

"Come in," he says in a commanding voice. The door opens to reveal the royal guard commander. He has a slight smirk on his face as he steps into the room.

"Your Majesty," he says, bowing deeply to the king.

"Why have you disturbed me?" the king asks in an annoyed tone.

"We have found one of them, sir," the commander states, his excitement barely constrained. "We don't know which one, but our sources clearly found that one of the Links is hiding out in Brethen. In the castle."

The king's face suddenly glows with a wicked smile. His heart jumps with excitement at the thought of finally having and excuse to do what he's wanted to do for years. With his hands clasped behind his back, he gives the order that he's been waiting to give for two whole years.

"Prepare to siege Brethen castle and bring me that Link immediately."
