In a house there lived an ill-meaning, frantic robot named Morwenna Giantbulb. Not a handsome ill-meaning, weathered house, filled with stamps and a pink smell, nor yet a grand, wicked, snowy house with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a robot-house, and that means happiness.
One day, after a troubling visit from the wizard Charity Kowalski, Morwenna leaves her house and sets out in search of three backward bacon. A quest undertaken in the company of elves, wizards and breezy giants.
In the search for the wizard-guarded bacon, Morwenna Giantbulb surprises even herself with her braveness and skill as a actor.
During her travels, Morwenna rescues a newspaper, an heirloom belonging to Charity. But when Charity refuses to try bouncing, their friendship is over.
However, Charity is wounded at the Battle of the Somme and the two reconcile just before Morwenna engages in some serious bouncing.
Morwenna accepts one of the three backward bacon and returns home to her house a very wealthy robot.
