Chapter 1 - Transportation

I honestly never thought I would end up here.

I honestly never thought I would get this far.

The final boss, the Demon King stands in front of me, glaring at me with his crimson red eyes. It was terrifying, yet so exciting.

I kept my gaze on the Demon King as I reached into my inventory to pick up my best weapon. My weapon's name was Armageddon, it was an incredibly large Scythe, the blade was large enough to curve around half my body.

The Demon King yelled in his shrill and dominating voice, "Who dares to enter my domain without permission."

"Come on, what is with that super cliche dialogue sequence, come up with something more original."

...

"Okay, whatever can we just fight cause I'm really hungry."

...

"Ehh, fuck this, your interactions are so limited"

I dashed towards the Demon King while dodging all of his attacks. As I continue to sprint towards him, he lets out a despicable smile, a dark circle appears below my feet and forces me to jump up. As I try to reorientate myself mid-air, a large black ball zooms in my direction. I knew I didn't have time to move away from it so I flipped forward slicing the ball in half. As I landed on the ground I pivoted to the left jumping towards the wall, I bounced off the wall and used the forward momentum to slip behind the Demon King. Right as I was about to cut his head off, he spun around and swatted my scythe out of my hand, then grabbing my neck and forcing me against the wall leaving a giant crater behind me.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, you think you could beat me. A pathetic human like you stands no chance against me. Have any last words vermin." The demon king said in a shrill and booming voice.

"God your dialogue is so cliche it actually physically hurts me." I said as I rolled my eyes.

I kicked myself off the demon king and flipped off the wall and using the momentum I gained to catch the scythe. I used the gained momentum and large blade of the scythe to spin around mid-air cutting his head off instantly.

"I've really got to ask them to fix that whole interaction, it's way too cliche for me. But I have to admit, these VRMMOS are getting better and more realistic, it's exciting."

The capsule which I was in opened slowly and the glaring sunlight blinded me as I struggled to leave my VR Capsule my way out of the machine.

"So Mister Oliver, how was the beta test experience for our new game? We hope it was to your liking."

"Hmm well... the scenery and the story were quite cliche. But the combat system and the realism were done well. I suggest you fix up the story, no one likes when everything goes as suspected. You need to add an element of surprise. A lot of the Demon Kings lines were extremely cliche."

"Also I really don't think "The Tales of your Hero" is a good name, at all. Change it, or you're nobodies gonna look at this game with a straight face."

"Anyways cya old man I'm hungry."

[GAMER DESIGNER POV]

Ugh, what a cocky kid and how did we manage to fit someone so plump into this machine anyway. But I have to admit, it's seriously impressive how much this kid knows when it comes to games. To think he could defeat The Demon King that 200 other beta testers struggled on for days.

But god damn you would think in 2052 that there would be some way to reduce fat incredibly fast, but I guess not.

"Well team you heard that fat ass, let's reset the story and please someone for gods sake please change the title it's embarrassing."

"YES SIR."

[OLIVER'S POV]

I honestly couldn't believe though that I was able to get to beta test this new game. I may be amazing, but you seriously have to have a lot of recognition and money to be able to beta test a game made by Spiritto Industries.

I've always been a pretty smart kid, being able to talk since I was 6 months old and walked since I was 7 months old. I've always impressed a lot of people. Always getting the best grades since joining school and staying number 1 in academics for my entire life I would say I am a pretty accomplished 16 years old.

But when it comes to any physical activity, I am the worst. Beyond the worst. I've never been able to engage in any physical activity for more than 15 min before I feel like passing out. And because I physically couldn't do anything, I assumed I could just eat whatever I want because it didn't matter whether I was skinny or fat.

I walk aimlessly towards the school as I see a park full of children. Their parents watching and listening to their every move. I sigh as I think to my self.

I've never felt normal, and I have a feeling my parents and siblings know I am not normal either. They have never been surprised by anything I have been able to do, they have never stopped being from doing anything and they always do whatever I wish for. It's a little discomforting to be honest.

"Oliver"

"Olliverrr"

"OI OLIVER"

"Oh sorry I was daydreaming what's up Eli."

"Dude what in the world could you be that lost in thought for. Oh, wait was it about the game you beta tested, how was it, was it good, was it fun, could you even fit in the VR Capsule."

"Wowowowowow Eli can you calm down, first there was no need to fat shame me, and second give me a second to answer one question before you ask 100 more."

"Yes it was fun and yes I could fit in the VR capsule."

"Are you happy?"

"Of course I'm happy, dude you got to beta test a VRMMO."

Eli is probably the closest person I have to a family. He has always looked out for me and been there as a real friend. I thought this while smiling at Eli.

"Yo Oliver you keep spacing out you alright and stop smiling at me its weird."

"Oh yeah, I am okay."

"Hmmm, anyways did you finish the presentation for the new VR Capsule right. We gotta go present to the class in an hour."

"Yeah no worries I finished it before the beta testing we should be fine, I'll head up to the board first and talk and you follow up after I'm done."

"Okay, bud sounds good."

As we entered the school I felt a lot of gazes following my every move. Some were jealous gazes and some looked at me as if I was a role model. I walked with confidence past the the school yard as I heard faint whispering of my deeds.

I made my way into the classroom and was met by the girl of my dreams, Sophia. She was beautiful, she had long wavy black hair and great big ocean-like eyes. Though she is the girl of my dreams I knew I could never be with her.

Wanna know why?

Because she had already rejected me. I thought it would be the most rational thing to do because from my experience with games the more you keep your feelings in the less of a chance you have with them. But I guess when it comes to romance or love I am pretty hopeless.

"Hey Ollie, I heard you went to beta test that new VR game, that's so cool."

"Y-yeah i-it was p-pretty fun, we should hang out sometime, maybe, I dunno it could be fun."

"Yeah that sounds gre-"

DING-DING

"Of course the bell went off as I was about to score a date." I whispered to my self in frustration.

"Good Morning everyone, I hope your doing well, I am here to present about the new VR Capsule that has been brought to the market, and how the new VR Capsule is going to change how we perceive everyday life. First-"

Right as I was about to move on to the next slide the screen turned off.

Seconds later the screen flashed red and a warning sign appeared.

Right as the countdown finished a blue circle encompassed me, I tried to forcing myself out of the circle but it pushed me on the floor

"OLIVER,BUDDY ARE YOU OKAY."

"OLLIE, OLLIE CAN YOU HEAR ME."

I could hear them yelling my name and saw them trying to force themselves into the circle, but it would just push them back. I tried yelling back but it didn't seem like they could hear me. As I was struggling to stand up I noticed some letters floating around the circle.

"Wait why can I read this, this isn't English, actually this language doesn't even exist. What is going on here."

The circle of what seemed like some kind of green magic started to move faster, right as my vision faded to white I was able to make out what the words said.

"Welcome home, Oliver."
