Kai couldn't believe what he had just heard, his whole world went upside down. And it looked like aunt Cass wasn't going to stop just yet.
"I'll tell you even more... In some not really common but at the same time not in rare cases we can gain something that not even magical beasts have, and it is the power to morph into them."
" No one knows why, some say it's a defect, some say its blessing but I, for one, agree with the latter."
That was the last straw for Kai's brain... he couldn't even think anymore... It' was too OP. With this information, he knew that his possibilities were endless and the limit was literally non-existent.
Cass could see his amazement, anticipation, excitement, and thirst for power. She simply smiled and caressed his hair.
"With a morphing, you can transform your body parts in that of core's original host. for example: let's say you got the morphing ability from Fire monkey, it could be whatever body part but for sake of the lesson, let's say it was hand morphing. when you activate it, your hand will transform into the hand of a monkey and it will be stronger than your original hand and also give you some cool effects like the heat pulsing, fire resistance, and considerable defense properties."
"It is incredible power, and is feared by many but in some super-rare cases, one can get the ability that lets you became beast yourself and it is the semi-morphing ability. It is 10 times more valuable than normal morphing. It is like you fuse with a beast. "
"In my whole lifetime, I've only seen it twice. And in both cases, I was out of words and could only watch. It is a breathtaking experience to watch its power and magnificence on a display. It was special-tier Sky eagle's incarnation, its majestical aura, and prideful eyes were something I will never forget... sigh" remembering the sight she couldn't help but sigh.
Kai attentively listened to her every word and wanted to experience it as she did once. he thought that one day he might get his hands on that ability but he knew that he was still far from it so he put that in the back of his mind and continued to listen.
Cass was lost in her thoughts and didn't say anything. Kai seemed to notice it and didn't want to interrupt her so he revised this whole conversation. he remembered how desperate he was when he thought that he could only assimilate somewhat common abilities, how hopeful he was when he asked Cass about his concerns, and how happy and hyped he was when he heard about all of the possibilities. after recounting everything he felt like he was overly greedy and selfish about his new life when he should be thankful for having an opportunity to live it. When he thought about himself that way he unconsciously frowned which wasn't missed by his sister.
She looked at him with concern in her eyes and asked "Kai, is something wrong?" her words seemed to awaken both Kai and Cass from their thoughts. Cass then looked at the 4-year-old kid and saw his somewhat sad expression.
Kai, on the other hand, was at a loss for words. he didn't know what to say, he didn't want to lie but if he said something like 'I reincarnated in this world and didn't like your capabilities' they might start research on him and restrict his freedom, not to mention straight-up killing or torturing him. He had to lie.
He looked at both his sister and Cass with a forced smile and laughed awkwardly while placing his hand on his head "No sis everything is okay, my head hurts a bit but that's all"
Both of them looked at him with slight concern but didn't say anything because if Kai didn't want to tell them they wouldn't pry more.
it was weird behavior considering Kai's age but Fures matured faster than humans so it wasn't surprising that kai did what he did. Compared to his other deeds this was considered somewhat normal.
Cass looked at Kai again but for a completely different reason. she wanted to ask if he was interested in other things than their prowess.
"Kai do you want to know more about our cultivation or you want to change the topic?" she looked at him straight in the eyes with a gentle smile on her face which prompted Kai to smile in return "Yes, please! I want to know about our cultivation.
Cass expected his answer and started " As I said earlier when you awakened your core you gained the ability to absorb other's cores and get a random skill. " Kai simply nodded and let her continue without interrupting "First of all, you should know that everyone's core is individual and different. some are more compatible with certain types of abilities than others. for example, I can easily assimilate any light element-based abilities and some other non-light elemental abilities but still, light is my forte. "
Kai felt that it made a lot of sense since everyone was different and had different preferences. he was intrigued by Cass's words and wanted to know what element was compatible with him.
As if reading his thoughts Cass said with a smile "There are methods to see what are you compatible with the most but I recommend to assimilate lots of cores and judge by yourself, old fashion way. "
Kai listened to her suggestion but couldn't help but ask "why?" he couldn't understand if there were methods why waste so much time.
Cass chuckled at his question, she seemed like expected the question. "I don't know, I always did it that way and grew fond of it" and she started laughing loudly.
Kai couldn't understand her but chose to remain silent because he didn't like to judge people's decisions. Cass waited for his response but continued after she saw that Kai wasn't going to say anything.
"Second, there's our core's capacity. the more capacity you have more abilities you can store within it. As you awakened your core recently you are still at the first grade so you should have a place for only one ability but I highly doubt it." She looked at Kai with an amused expression and chuckled a bit. Kai understood what she meant, she doubted it because of all of his deeds in the past and how abnormal it was to awaken at the age of 4. he understood that he was considered a 'special' case so he didn't say anything and listened.
After few seconds Cass continued her explanation "Our capacity increases with our core"s grade. usually at the second grade, one should have the capacity to store from 2 to 3 abilities, at 3rd grade from 3 to 5, and so on"
After her explanation, Kai couldn't help but marvel at this world for its mysteriousness and vast possibilities and it made him anticipate his first ability.
Cass noticed his excitement but didn't say anything as she could understand him while remembering herself when she got her first ability.
Their thoughts were interrupted by 'ahem' of Meira. of course she did it on purpose and pointed at the window where the sun was already setting down. both of them understood what she meant but Kai still had a lot of questions. Cass understood him but sighed loudly as she could do nothing about sunset so she promised to continue the conversation next time and Kai also promised that next time he would bring a gift for her. And like that, they left Cass's house and returned home.
