I stood there as I watched the people walking in front of me.
Ely, the place where it all began, the experiment which brought chaos and power. The 'UnNatural' is the very first experiment that succeeded in accessing the human's brain capacity. Of course, not everyone agrees with the experiment, however, it helps a lot of people. At present, Ely has been now recognized as Ely, The City of Super.
"According to a survey, about 75% of the human population has already inquired for accessing their brain capacity." A blue chart appeared next to the woman who is reporting. "The following 25% is either still undecided or a part of the Anti-Sci." She paused and looked at her script. "And now, live in Stix High, Reporter Cassius, hello Mr. Cassius." The screen split in two, and a man in his mid-20s popped up.
"Greetings, Miss Bex!" The man said with a smile on his face. It's obvious that the colors of his eyes transitioned from the shade of tree bark to the color of dark, green leaves.
"Will Stix High gonna open this year?" Bex immediately asked. Cassius nodded first before answering, "Yes." he simply said. Then, the screen was replaced by a video showing the school Cassius was in. The school was filled with shades of red, flaunting most of the equipment, along with its waving flag where a phoenix design was displayed.
"This is Stix High, where brave students in the Ely area study. Talent and courage are exercised and determination ignites the thing desired. Stix High wants to achieve one primary goal only, and that is world peace." I just stared at the screen as they showed the whole school.
"As you can see, Stix High is the newest school to be accepting Supers," said Cassius as both of Bex's and his face were back on the screen. "What can you say, Cassius?" Bex asked. "I love the school already. Upon seeing it, I still wish I could go and enroll too," he said and chuckled. "We are in the same boat, Cassius, but, Stix High is a school where our new Supers will be born," said Bex and ended the report with a "thank you."
"Hey!" I lost my attention on the hologram when I heard Cyrill's voice.
"What's up?" I asked. I stood up and approached him, he was carrying two boxes, a green and red one.
"It's from your ..." He said as he mumbled the last words.
"From whom?" I asked again.
"Ah, it's from me, um." He is in panic and it vividly shows on his face. I wonder what's his problem is.
"Ah, it's from my brother!" He said sounding like he was relieved to get out of a difficult situation.
"Which brother?" I asked as I looked him in the eye.
"Um ..." he was silent for a few minutes, bet he's still deliberating on what to say. "It's from my Mom's side."
"Well, stop talking," he said then he handed me the two boxes. "Don't ask, that's for you."
"These two?" he just nodded and left.
"Weird," I said.
Well, I never meet his brother from his mom's side, but why would he give me a gift?
"Wait is this a gift? Or maybe one of Cyrill's pranks?" Cyrill is a little crazy but he is still a great best friend.
"Oh, well," I said then went back to my seat.
*Ting, ting
My attention went to my wristband as it rang. I pressed the notification, and a color blue panel appeared along with a text message on it.
[Hugh's 18th Birthday Present.]
Tears started to flow when Hugh remembered at least half of what happened to him and his family that day.
Although Hugh have faint memories about the events, he remembers how his mother's hair was green as an emerald and his dad's red eyes.
"Stay alive Hugh."
"Are these boxes really from your brother?" I asked Cyrill once again while looking at the two boxes—red and green—in front of me.
The clock have already had its rounds yet I haven't bothered on opening them.
"Don't you have any plans to open that?" Cyrill sat next to me while holding a tub of ice cream he was eating.
"I don't know. I'm still deliberating if these boxes really came from your brother or you're just messing with me and these, in fact, came from you." Cyrill didn't utter a word and continued eating his cold snack, he's obviously averting his gaze from mine and steering away this topic. What's with him?
"Hey, Cyrill. " I said with a serious tone, hoping that he get the gist that I badly want to know the truth.
He suddenly stood up and said, "Alright, choose." with a hint of authority in his voice.
"You open something up, then I'll tell you."
"Hmm." Well, it has been 3 hours since those boxes arrived. I looked at both boxes and the green one caught my attention, it was like it's begging me to open them and reveal whatever there is inside.
"I want to open the Green one," I said. Cyrill was grinning as if he just won the lottery, maybe implying that his friend chose the right box. 'Ah, Tito Jones really adores things like this', he said to himself.
earlier before the box came.
*ting, ting ...
Cyrill looked at his wristband when he heard the notification, he clicks it and a blue panel popped up.
[Message from Hugh's Parents.]
He was stunned when he read who sent the message.
"Hugh's Parents?" He stuttered. It took him a minute or two to open the message.
"Hello, Cyrill." Cyrill was surprised to hear the voice of Hugh's mother.
"Aunt? " He said. His voice was cracking the way when he's about to cry.
"If this message reached you, this means your Uncle Jones and I have died." Cyrill could not move.
"No time, hurry up Marie!" another voice is heard. "Tito?"
"Please take care of Hugh for me Cyrill, a package will be delivered there. After you receive this message, pick it up. Those two, we made it for you and Hugh, use it, and don't ever tell anyone about this..."
"Even to my beloved son, Hugh. Please keep this a secret from him."
"Cyrill?"
