This is a story of how many young adults and teens cover-up their emotions. LGBTQ+ a commonly known "phrase", but for some, it is much more; lets introduce two example students, meet Molly, Molly is 16 years old, she has black ,shoulder length hair, blue eyes and a pretty face. If Molly goes to school she is instantly surrounded by her friends. Then there is Emily, Emily is 13 years old, she has chin length hair, dyed blue, she is short and pudgy, if Emily goes to school, she finds her close friends and they go to the library together and read. Molly has a loud voice and doesn't know how to shut up, Emily is known as "The quiet girl" in her class, the only time she will ever speak is if she is answering a question. These will be our example girls.
Reputations are very important to us humans, we all have a reputation. People do things for their reputation, sometimes not realising it. Molly is quite popular, which gives her quite a good reputation, Emily on the other hand may just like to open new doors on her own. Secretly, they are both LGBTQ+. For whom may it be harder to come out? Molly doesn't want to lose any of her friends, but Emily is too quiet and shy to say anything. Let's go to their home lives. Molly, Molly has a very christian family, her brother already came out as asexual and her parents didn't like that very much, this already makes Molly nervous about coming out, plus her parents are counting on her to have children, Molly does not know if you can have children if you are lesbian. Emily, Emily's family do not have a religion, she lives with both sets of grandparents (which may or may not be homophobic) her parents, sister and brother. None of her siblings have come out as anything but straight, her sister is 9 and her brother is 17. She does not know what to do.
Sometimes, you have to have trust before you can start reaching for the handle of the closet door, take your time.
