A week after the gift-giving incident, Ruby and Reino were like strangers – at least that's how Ruby felt. Reino seemed to be avoiding Ruby.
Every Ruby shift, Reino was always in the room. Even when Reino was about to ask for coffee – which happened to be the only one who was unemployed – Reino kept waiting for Juan until he finished.
Like now, Reino sat in the corner of the customer seat while watching the speed of the movement of his cellphone screen.
"Ruby, you deliver the coffee boss Reino ordered," Juan said, handing him a tray with a hot cup of Americano coffee.
"But… why should I?" Ruby asked doubtfully.
Juan stared at Ruby in surprise. "Why do you ask? Of course it's your job to deliver the coffee I've prepared.
After all, look… all the waiters are busy delivering customer orders. You're the only one who's free. Why? Are you not feeling well?" Juan asked.
Ruby was silent. "No..." she said weakly.
