"I can't, my love," whispered Prince Aerus helplessly. "I still have to go."
Damn, why is all this so heart-wrenching? Feeling hurt and as if betrayed, even though that's not what is happening. Two hearts that are starting to accept must be faced with a huge polemic, problems that are beyond their reach.
"You promise not to marry another girl?" Lia's face was still lowered, still not wanting to look directly into Prince Aerus' eyes.
The finger movement landed on Lia's chin, pinching it to make her face lookup.
"I promise, love. As long as you promise to keep waiting for me. Don't like other men, don't make the hair on my head turn black. When I find that mark, then I will accept the match that father gave me." A good threat, but it wouldn't happen.
"Why are you so stubborn? Feelings can't be controlled. I can't control myself if I like Neil."
"That's why you should remember me more often."
The wink of a wistful eye, a feeble gaze.
