Nobody POV:
The morning is all nice and bright. The sun is shining, birds are singing and both girls wake up at the smell of fresh coffee being made. They get up and head down to see Angie in the kitchen cooking breakfast.
Angie POV:
I am standing in the kitchen making breakfast when I hear someone coming down the stairs. I go to look for a quick second so I don't burn the eggs, when I see Katie and Marisa making their way down the stairs.
"Hey girls! Want some Juice or coffee?" I ask them.
"Sure, Mom. Thanks! How about you, Katie?" Marisa says to her.
"I'll take some juice please, Angie. But do you need help with breakfast? Dishes? Setting the table? Anything at all?" Katie responds.
"No, I think I got it. You two girls just sit and wait. You can both help me with them after breakfast. Thank you though, Katie. I appreciate it!" I responded to her.
"Oh, no problem! I was just raised to be nice to people as they are with me." She says in response to me.
"Well, you are really sweet and I appreciate it a lot. Why don't you two go get ready and I'll put breakfast on the table? Better hurry, Breakfast will be ready soon!" I say giggling.
"Okay, Mom. We're going. Come on Katie, I'll show you where the other bathroom is. Also, I am so sorry that the bathroom overflowed on you last night. I had no idea our water was still running." I hear Marisa say as they make their way down the hallway.
I stand there thinking about how Katie seems like a nice girl and how I love seeing Marisa happy with her new best friend. I smile when I think of what may happen in the future. I see them just standing around talking, laughing, hugging, spending a lot of time together, and most of all, still being happy in the end. I want the best for my daughter. She means the most to me. I just wish her father was here to see that. He would love to see his little girl happy. If only he didn't decide to divorce me and marry a new person a month later.
The girls come back and help me set the table. We all sit down and eat breakfast and share a couple laughs while we are at it. Katie reaches to get the Grape jelly and puts some on her toast. She then sets it down and takes a bite. Immediately after, She starts to choke and gag as if she was having an allergic reaction. Moments later after Marisa performs the Heimlich maneuver on Katie, she passes out. Marisa then lays her on her side and makes sure her airway is clear. She tells me to go get the car ready so we can rush her to the Emergency Room. I go do that as she is carrying her friend in her arms to put her in the car.
Moments later, we are on the freeway rushing to the ER and I hear my daughter tell me to pull over to the side of the road. I do as she says and then I put on my hazard signals. I then look back and ask what's wrong. She tells me that Katie had stopped breathing. She then performs CPR on her seconds later. As she performs CPR, a cop pulls behind us and goes up to my window and asks if we need help. I then tell him what's going on and he looks back to see Marisa doing CPR. He instructs her to continue doing it safely as he gives us a Police Escort to the nearest Emergency room. We arrive 5 minutes later and rush her in while Marisa is still administering CPR on her. I get someone to help us and they tell Marisa they had it from there.

Marisa POV:
I'm standing outside in the waiting room. I call her parents but I get no answer. I call their office and ask if I can speak to Mr. and Mrs. Charleston. They answer the phone and say hi to me. I then explain what is going on and they immediately ask if they can leave work early. I hear their boss in the background saying after the staff meeting. They then tell me and hang up after that. I pace back and forth in the waiting room impatiently waiting for her doctors to tell us what's going on.
"Mom, how do you think she is doing?" I ask her, panicking.
"Hunny, calm down. The doctors are helping her now. You did a great job helping her too. Just come sit down and relax. It'll be okay." She softly says.
I go and sit by my mom and immediately break down in tears. I feel so bad for Katie and I just wish I could have known.
"Why does this have to happen to the best people?" I think. "She doesn't deserve this. I wish it was me instead of her place."
Just then the doctor comes out to tell us that she is awake and alert. He also said we can go see her but her voice is a little rough and groggy. We then head back to see her.
Katie POV:
I see Angie and Marisa walk in and I smile at them. Seeing them makes me happy. I am so glad that they are here.
"Hey!" I say in a groggy voice. "You didn't leave me here alone. Why is that?"
"Because even though we've been friends for like 4 days, you are already a huge part of my life. I would never not be here for you. Your parents should be here soon too. I called them to let them know what's going on. They are coming after a mandatory staff meeting." Marisa responded.
"Oh, okay! Thank you, Mari. You are such a great friend." I say smiling and giggling.

Katie's parents come into the room to see their daughter fast asleep holding her best friend's hand. They walk over and whisper thanking her for what she did for her daughter.
Johnny POV:
After I thank Marisa, Katie's new best friend, for all she did, I walk over to hold my daughter's hand. I then lean over and kiss her forehead. She then wakes up and sees her mom and I standing there in the room. She looks around and asks where Marisa and her mom went. I told her they went down the hall to get something to drink at the vending machines.
"Hey Kiddo, how are you feeling?" I ask her.
"I feel better, Dad. Thanks!" She says with a smile on her face.
"Hey sweetie, Marisa seems nice. I like her already. Why don't we see if she can spend the night during the next weekend?" I hear my wife ask.
"Haha, maybe Mom. We shall see. I'm gonna get some rest though. You both can still be here. I'm just tired." She says while letting out a big yawn.
"Okay kiddo, We'll let you rest. We will be sitting right here. We love you." I say back to her, leaving a kiss on her head. My wife leans over and does the same.
10 minutes later, I see Katie asleep on her side. She is so adorable when she is sleeping. I then lean over and say I love you to my wife and thank her for giving me such a beautiful daughter. After that, I place a kiss on her cheek.
Marisa POV:
After we get our drinks, we head back to Katie's room and see them all sleeping peacefully. We quietly grab our things and head back home, leaving Katie, Johnny, and Katherine alone with her. We get in our driveway and head to our rooms to go to bed. I get ready for bed and go to the room.
After I get in my bed, I look over to Katie's side and smile. I know she will be okay. She's strong and got this. I go over and grab her teddy bear and set it neatly on her bed. I then head over to my bed and curl under the blankets.
"I am so glad to have a friend like her. She really is my best friend and I really care about her." I think.
I then turn over and shut my eyes, unable to fall asleep thinking about her. It's like she is drilled in my mind. I feel myself starting to get butterflies in my stomach at the thought of her. I go to my mom's room and ask if we can talk for a second. She lets me in and we talk.
"Mom, when you met Dad, what did you feel like? Like did your stomach feel like it had butterflies in it?" I ask her.
"Yeah, it did actually. Why do you ask?" She responds to me.
"Well, I don't know what I am feeling just yet, but whenever I think about Katie, I feel the same thing in my stomach you did for dad when you first met. Any advice?" I say back.
"Just don't rush whatever this feeling may be. If you do end up falling for your best friend. Just know I will support you through it all. " She says.
"Okay Mom, Thanks. I'm going to head to bed now. Good night." I say hugging her good night and leaving a kiss on her cheek.
I head back to my room and think of what my mom said. I ponder on what this feeling may be. I then think about how I should tell her what I feel to see if she has any other advice. I know I shouldn't tell her it's about her so I don't scare her off. Moments later, I am falling asleep thinking about Katie. I then roll over on my back and grab my childhood teddy bear and cuddle it. Just as I feel my eyes shutting, I am asleep in seconds.
