Alys brought out the key to Ceri Binner's door and stuffed it inside one of the guard's hands. Then she ran off saying, "I have to go now. The queen waits for no one..."
The guards replied, "oh, I know that," he said with a shake of his head while the other guard hit his arm signaling him to keep his mouth shut.
The palace was no place to be making such snide comments here and there.
"That is the head of the queen's maids. Do you not know that?"
"I do but still..."
The other guard squeezed the lip of the one that was complaining.
His partner slapped off his hand.
They both shared a laugh and stood in their positions at both sides of the door.
Little did they know that Ceri Binner who they were guarding the door against was inside that room with her eyes glazed over and her stomach swelling up as every minute passed by.
