The green glow of the vortex vanished behind the five teens, trapping them in their new location. Tess carefully squeezed the brake lever on both handles of her hover-cruiser, bringing the breathtaking view before her to a standstill.
She momentarily ignored the strong green scent and the buzzing of insects in the vast expanse of grass that stretched out for miles. Instead, she focused her senses on the ground in the distance, where it dropped sharply, resembling the edge of the world.
To her right and left, a mist veiled the curvature of the giant circular crater, giving the illusion that it stretched infinitely in both directions. The visible section of the crater walls directly facing them emanated a mesmerizing display of orange, brown, and white dots, sparkling under the early morning sun. Though almost blinding, Tess could discern millions of old houses lining the sloping walls.
