Szedra had told Lanse not to whip any more waves at the evolved monster, in fear of dropping her energy sphere. The bulky red monster hovering above continued to stab her sphere with the tip of its wings.
Lanse looked around for his other teammates. Zino gave her attention to the fidgeting Zack in her arms. But thoughts of doing a group maneuver left his mind, with the tentacles that tore through Tess's back. He shrank his eyes wondering if he was seeing right.
Zino's super sense pulled her attention to Tess far away and on her knees. She blinked twice at the unholy from Tess's back before screaming out with tears in her eyes.
"Teeeeees!"
Zino's scream slapped urgency into Lanse's mind, and he gripped his swords tighter.
Zack stopped fidgeting. His flickering eyes glowed steady and closed.
Szedra was too busy blocking everything out to keep up her sphere.
