Meredith stepped out into an empty street with fresh untouched snow and all the sounds around disappeared. The ground beneath her was covered in the cold white virgin blanket and she looked up at the lights that were woven in a arbitrary pattern across the street from the tops of the buildings that housed the stores and restaurants below. They dropped in strings of large light as though the stars were raining over the city.
The light feather-like plump snowflakes floated lazily all around her, a few landing on her eyelashes. She closed her eyes and took a breath in the fresh lush scent of the petrichor, food from restaurants, and the faint smell of the city hovering just above it all.
