"True Vision? What's that?" Arthur thought, and to his surprise, the system answered him.
[True Vision is a transformation where you push your body to the limit. The system not only copies abilities but also fighting styles. Activating this mode will allow you to mimic Sargent's John fighting style, and you'll be able to wield the sword just like him.]
"That's awesome," that information made Arthur smile, but the system said one more thing to him.
[Remember that I said it pushes your body to the limit? Well, it increases your attributes drastically. You currently don't have that many stats as you are level 0, so don't think that you'll be able to match your opponent's speed just by activating the transformation. Also, expect to lay on a bed for three days after using it. The transformation will last at a max of 2 minutes in your current level.]
Arthur thought about what he had just learned. But in the end, he decided to activate it anyway. Lay on a bed for three days would be worth it if he managed to pass the test.
After using his True Vision, he would be able to copy Sargent's John swordsmanship, so Arthur needed a sword. His newly copied ability was only level 1, so creating a sword proved to be a difficult task for him.
A blue light appeared out of nowhere and started to take the form of a sword. Arthur managed to create a shortsword. That was the best he could do at his level.
"Oh," Sargent John was surprised. Arthur didn't only excel in unarmed combat but also knew how to use a sword. John saw a younger version of him in front of his eyes.
"System please, activate True Vision for me," Arthur thought, and the system heard him.
[True Vision Activating]
Arthur felt his body lighter, and all of his senses were heightened. He could see some type of energy floating in the air. He wondered if it was related to humankind's abilities, but that was not the moment to think about that.
"Hum? What happened to him?" Sargent John felt that something was different on Arthur, but he couldn't tell exactly what it was. He waited a few seconds for Arthur to adjust, and then, he rushed towards him once again.
The sound of clashing swords entered the ears of every student who was watching the fight.
"Who's Sargent John's opponent? He looks formidable," some group of students from the academy started to take notice of the fight that was going in the ring.
"It must be someone who's undergoing the entrance test. It's been a long time since Sargent John doesn't go that serious," another student commented.
Arthur and John clashed, and slowly Arthur was adjusting his swordsmanship to match John's.
"What's happening? How does he fight like me?" John was stunned. The swordsmanship he knew had been taught to him by his master, and only those two knew how to use it. And yet, at that moment, a mere student was copying his movements.
"I thought that his ability allowed him to create that magical sword. Could he be the rare type of genius who has more than one ability?" Sargent John's thoughts were confused, and that distracted him from the fight. Arthur didn't lose that breach and cut John's left arm. It was a small cut. The Sargent's body was tougher than Arthur had expected, but still, blood dripped from the wound.
Heather, who was resting from her earlier fight, appeared to witness Arthur's battle.
"How? How's that possible?" her eyes went wide open when she saw that Arthur's ability was the same as her. Abilities were passed through generations. Some abilities could be similar to another, but none of them were equal. And by the looks of the sword Arthur had just created, it was the same as her ability.
"Could he be my parent?" that's was the only explanation she could think.
"That's good enough. You passed the test, kid," Sargent John was impressed by Arthur's performance, and he did notice that Arthur was getting tired, so he decided to end the fight like that.
"I.... I did it," that was the last thing Arthur thought after passing out due to his transformation. The estate of True Vision put a lot of stress on his weak body, and the system warned him that something like that would happen.
All of the people who witnessed the fight were stunned. That young man made Sargent John bleed. That was an accomplishment for life.
"The test ends for today," John said. He grabbed Arthur's unconscious body from the ground and went straight to the academy's infirmary. Arthur needed urgent care, and John decided to befriend him. He wanted to know just how Arthur learned the same swordsmanship as his.
A week passed after that incident. Heather and the newly recruited members were still adjusting to their new lives inside the academy, and Arthur finally woke.
"Hi there, I thought you would never wake up," John said, giving Arthur a gentle smile.
"What happened?" Arthur thoughts were still messed up, and he couldn't instantaneously remember what happened.
"Not much. You and I fought. You made me bleed, passed the test, went one-week unconscious, and now you have a week of school work to make up for.
"Huh-h???"
