Chapter 29 - Chapter 29.

It was already the evening till Arman could return to normal.

Even though he was healed in just five minutes, the mental exhaustion was too high.

So, he slept till it was evening.

Thankfully, the Killer's Association would be open till eight in the night, so, Arman wouldn't have to miss the college for another day.

He sat in the car.

Ali and Jamal said that they would come with Arman, but Arman declined.

Instead, he took Jacob and Dan with him.

This angered the Ali and Jamal, but there was nothing they could do.

Arman couldn't stop thinking, was Eveline this strong?

Well, it was not like she would tell him right away if he asked her. So it was no use thinking about it.

Arman sat in the car.

He told Jacob to drive. And Jacob was very happy, as his dad would not allow him to drive, as he is one of the ignorant people of this generation. He might drive it in an uncontrollable speed and might end up killing someone. And here, he was getting the chance to drive a supercar. So there was no doubt that he would use this opportunity.

The car drifted through the air as Jacob started speeding up. Dan guided him using the navigation system in his mobile phone.

Arman was very tense. It was unknown whether he would be successful or would fail.

Till then, he decided to check his stats once again. And yeah, he made it visible to the Flame King, Jacob and Dan too.

Arman was completely baffled at seeing the massive cooldown time and the massive mana requirement of the skill

But then, a thought came to Arman's mind.

What exactly is mana?

His gaze turned towards the Flame King.

Arman thought that the Flame King would guess what Arman was thinking, just like he always did. But, the Flame king instead raised his head and lowered it. (It is a gesture meaning to say 'What?)

Arman was stupified. But still, it was his fault. Afterall, it wasn't necessary that the Flame king could read Arman's thoughts. The Flame king's expression changed.

"Staring at me like that... Perhaps, are you a les.. No no. Tell me, what is it?"

"Hey, stop getting any stupid ideas, I was asking you what is 'mana'."

"Then, can't you talk, why were you staring at me like that."

Arman then justified himself.

"Oh come on I wasn't stating at you 'like that' I was just looking at you normally. So that you would automatically understand what I am thinking, like you always do."

The Flame king said it straightforward.

"Stupid successor, are our brains connected? No, right? Then how am I supposed to know what you are thinking. I would always guess what you were thinking. And yeah, had I known that you were this big of a ignoramus, I for sure would have guessed it too."

"Now please tell me!"

"You don't know?" Asked the Flame King.

"Both I and I you know that I am new to such things, So, it's obvious I don't know. Now, will you tell me or not ?" Said Arman.

"Okay, okay. Don't get so worked up."

Saying so, the Flame King patted Arman.

He then continued his words. "It is so complicated, where do I start from?"

The Flame King then got immersed in his thoughts.

"Well, it is an energy.... No no no... A 'type' or 'Form' of energy if I say it more precisely. Till date, none has been successful in defining Mana. So, in simple words, it is a contact force or a non-confect force depending upon the will of the user. And yeah, we haven't ever seen a non-living being use mana, so it is assumed that only living can wield mana so, it can't be machinized. Also, it is produced by a special organ. That isn't present in anyone. People obtain that after they gain powers. And there exist some rare geniuses who are born with it. This is completely based on luck and genetics plays a zero role in it. So, did you understand?" The Flame King was left breathless after giving such long explanation. He just wished that Arman understood all of it.

And then, Arman replied

"No."

Cold wind slapped the face of the Flame King. He then let out a sigh.

"You just need to remember two points, they are:

First, it is meaningless trying to explain it to you.

And second, Mana is a form of energy."

Arman was annoyed by this. He just snorted and checked his stats once again.

In it, there was one such stat 'Sincerity', which was 0, zero!

The Flame King pointed it out. "Well, you indeed aren't trustworthy, hehe."

Arman then burst out at Jacob, Dan and

the Flame King.

"Stop laughing you idiots! This damn thing is just completely wrong!"

The Flame King then relieved Arman. "Don't worry, it has yet to witness your sincerity, so it is like this now. Once it acknowledges you, it will be updated automatically."

"Really?" Arman's lotus-like eyes turned towards the Flame King.

"Yes, of all stats, sincerity is the only one which can't be measured. So, the system itself tries to achnowledge it. Till then, it just states some random number. In the starting, my sincerity was falsely stated to be 300."

Arman, Jacob and Dan then asked,

"So, by how much did it increase after they came to know about your true self?"

The Flame King then chuckled.

"Increase? From the day they acknowledged me, it hasn't changed. Check it for yourself."

The Flame King made only his sincerity stat visible

[Sincerity: -50,000]

All three were surprised. Can a stat go in negative?

This was how big of a cheat the Flame King was.

If Arman trusted him too much, he would have to pay with his life.

This guy really was an untrustworthy man.

The Flame King then diverted Arman successfully.

"See that skill , using which, you could reach the Himalayas so fast back then."

Arman then quickly turned his gaze towards that skill. He then nodded.

And then, Jacob stopped the car.

"We've reached our destination, boys."

Arman came stepped out of the car.

He strided towards a tall skyscraper infront of him. Jacob and Dan also accompanied him.

Arman went in.

As Arman came in, he saw comparatively less people. This was because he came late. On entering, Arman saw a desk by the door.

He went at the desk and said. "Will you please register my name for testing?" And the lady replied "Sure sir." She turned her gaze towards her computer. After typing for a a second or two, she asked.

"Do you have Identity proof, sir?"

"Yes."

Said Arman and gave her his passport.

She then put Arman's details in the computer. She then asked

"What would. like to be called as, after becoming a Killer, that if you pass?"

"Uhm?"

"I mean what do you want your username to be, sir?"

Arman then he said without thinking.

"Same, Arman"

"Okay sir, here is your token. Please wait at the bench."

The lady gave Arman a token and pointed towards a bench behind him.

Arman sat on it. But, Jacob and Dan didn't seem to move from the desk.

Arman wondered why. After a short while, they came back.

Arman asked them

"What happened, why were you guys standing there?" The both of them exchanged gazes and then locked back ad Arman.

"It's obvious, we were registering to become a Killer."

Arman was forced to a jaw-dropping position. Were these guys here to cheer Arman up, or to actually compete with Arman. And on top of that, they didn't even have special powers. How were they thinking they would pass the exam?

Nowadays, the dream of every kid is becoming a part of the Killers Association. Undoubtedly, just like Arman, Jacob and Dan were also interested in such things.

Arman sighed and decided to remain silent.

All three of them were excited for this. After a few minutes, the lady at the desk came and escorted the three to an elevator.

Then, she left.

The three of them pressed the button By the metallic door and waited. After about a minute or so, at 'ting!' sound was made and the metallic door was opened.

A man stood inside. Arman, Jacob and Dan entered.

They didn't know what floor they had to go to, but still, it was good to once have a glimpse of the control panel.

But then, the three were surprised to see that there was were no buttons to feed the system about which floor to visit.

Then, the man standing beside them said.

"I am the operator of this cab, do you have an and authorization?"

"Authorization? for what?" asked Arman.

"You don't have it? Then how did you got in here?"

"I came here to test for becoming a killer. The lady at the reception desk escorted me till this place, and left." The man then said. "Then, give me your tokens." And the three did so.

The operator scanned it with a scanner and after hearing a mechanical voice saying "Authentication succesful", did he return the token.

"Floor +63 let's go"

The operator interacted with a device that he had took out from his pocket on the left side of his shirt.

'Floor +63?' Arman thought for awhile. He added the special character '+' This meant that there were underground floors too.

And adding the plus sign infront of 63 meant that there was a - 63 too. Meaning that this building was atleast 63 floors deep underground.

If you do the math, assuming that each floor amounts up to a five metres, then 63 floors would be 315 metres. "Three hundred and fifteen metres above the ground and three hundred fifteen metres below the ground?" And moreover, Arman didn't know how many floors more were there.

after +63 and before -63.

The Killer's Association couldn't be underestimated.

The elevator stopped with an 'ting!' sound and the doors opened.

The three walked out of the cab to see an almost stadium-like scenario.

"They actually had such a big stadium in their building! Jacob exclaimed.

They were greeted by a woman in a typical classic suit.

She wore a bow tie the and seemed young, in her 20s. She for sure was atleast eight years older than Arman and Jacob and Dan.

But still, Jacob wouldn't let go of his flirty attitude.

"Lady, would you like go and on a date with me?"

The woman didn't reply. She doubled her fists and said.

"Please form & line."

Arman Jacob and Dan and a few other examinees stood next to each other with their shoulders touching the shoulders of those standing next to them.

She then particularly said to Jacob.

"Please come forth."

Jacob did so and boom!

The lady stomped on Jacob's feet hard and blood flowed out of it.

"I am high level killer, so don't try to mess with me."

She pushed Jacob back to the initial position.

"Is there. anyone else who finds me beautiful?"

All replied."No." Cold perspiration had gathered on their face.

"That's good! My name is Ayano and I will be your examinator. We will examine you with fifteen different tests. Maximum marks for each test would be hundred. We will take an average of total marks obtained. You will need atleast five marks on average to pass."

Everyone wondered.

'An average of five marks out of hundred and you pass?'

Was the test really this difficult? Or was it just that the Killer's Association was overly confident. Nothing could be said.

Fin.
