Chapter 1 - 1. Despair

Maybe it is pointless, to survive. Maybe it is pointless to have a good life, live happily with the ones you love. At the end everyone dies. But only those who have the will to survive wins at the end.

Otsū clan rule the Roin country like Gods. They kill people who oppose them, they destroy villages whenever they want. Everybody despised them. My father was a man who never let anyone control him. My father was the head of our village. Hunters of the Otsū were looking for a chance to destroy our village.

My name is Shimura Nobunaga.I am 14 years old. I always meet up with my friends by the river which was outside the village. It was unusual, none of my friends came today. I played by myself and when I was returning I smelled fire. I ran, as fast as I could, to arrive at my village.

It was on fire. The village was my fire. I ran straight towards my house. As I ran, I didn't hear a single voice of a human, all I heard was the sounds of fire swallowing the houses of the village. As I arrived infront of my house, I saw something so frightening that I froze for a moment. My house was burnt. It was burnt to crisp. I lost my mind, I didn't knew what to do. I was screaming with anger, anger towards the Otsū clan. My eyes were filled with anger. I wanted to kill them, I will kill them all.

I heard footsteps. I immediately hid, it was the the hunters of the Otsū clan. I wanted to kill them, but I was afraid. I laid back and thought about how weak I was and I could never take revenge. But, the sounds of fire and the smell of ashes made me think, "Is this all I amount to?" , "Am I this worthless?". If I can't even kill these hunters how am I going to take revenge and annihilate the Otsū clan?

I charged at them. There were five of them, maybe they were just finishing up. As I ran, I took a stone and threw it at one of them and took his sword and cut him through his chest. Thanks to the sword training my father gave me. I was able to handle the sword finely. I charged at the second one, I dodged his attack and cut his neck. Three of them were left. I remember my father taught me a technique to kill multiple opponents at once. It took three years of relentless training, but I could still cut three dummies. The move involved me reaching the middle of the three enemy, then rotation myself and the blade at the same time creating a strong wind which can slice the opponents body. I didn't knew if I could pull that trick off but I tried anyways.

I managed to pull it off, killing the last three. These hunters were the last five, others went on ahead.

Covered in blood, I sweared that I will kill them all.
