Vincent held Prudence for some time before her breathing calmed and thoughts returned back to normal. She moved back, and Vincent did not hold her in. "Drakos came back to life," Prudence said, while keeping her eyes low.
"Vampires are already dead, Prudence," Vincent explained, as he cleared the hair around her face, "it is hard to kill us."
Prudence understood that part. Vampires truly had everything changed in them. They were fast, had good hearing, and Prudence assumed that made all their other senses heightened as well. By now, she was not surprised by any new information regarding them. If Vincent told her they had wings or turned into bats, then she would believe that too. But this time Prudence asked the question, which was holding back all along, "how long were you listening to everything happening?"
Vincent stared at her without any emotion flowing on his face before answering, "when Diane twisted Drakos's neck. I was back at the manor."
