Chapter 9 - Oskah's Dream: Last Flower.

It's been four years. I had decided not to follow in the footsteps of the man who had saved and destroyed my life. But I still decided to enlist in the Corps of exploration. It was a difficult month of training and study, but in the end, I made it. I put a lot of dedication and in a short time I was able to climb some peaks.

The Division Chief is a beautiful, blindfolded woman. She has a strange disease that she doesn't like to talk about. When I asked her if it was possible to keep my special mace as a recon weapon, she was initially against it, but I later convinced her. She's a little grumpy.

My regular reconnaissance companion is an old man who talks a lot, but I get along well with him, and above all, he helped us with several things. I don't trust him, anyway, I don't trust anyone now.

Even though he gets along very well with Seryah, I never leave him alone with her.

A year goes by. The outside world is dangerous and amazing. Mostly depressing. There have been several incidents, fortunately not near the city.

There is something in this city that keeps those things at a distance, all evil stays away from here.

Seryah enters my room.

"I missed you, big brother ..."

I tell her that I am sorry and that she must not call me like that.

"You spend less and less time at home now." I know.

"I want to be close to you ..."

No need.

"Yes, on the contrary ... I feel that you are making yourself too useful and I am not doing anything ..."

"I want to join the research corps!" Seryah says, doing a childish pirouette. I slap her unwittingly. I regret it ... I don't want to hurt her. She remains silent.

"I'm sorry ..." She says nothing and looks at the floor that reflects the light of the sky.

"I'm just afraid of losing you ... You're the only thing I have left, the only thing that doesn't drive me crazy."

She hesitates for a moment and then turns to me. "Why don't you want me to call you big brother? Do you hate me?" I shake my head. "No! On the contrary, I'm in..."

I don't say anything. The walls begin to turn white, to crumble, my silence has cost me dearly, the words are swallowed by the infinite hole in the middle of my heart. Seryah watches me with eyes that turn white, her skin, her hair, crumble like paper, everything in front of me becomes paper.

I don't scream. It wouldn't do any good.

The dream is over.
