Chapter 30 - Extra Chapter: Death

Despite the perceived immortality that Ambrosia and the conciousness servers may give, Death is still commonplace within the vast region of the Federation. Thougn one can think of how it could happen.

The most important part of a person's conciousness is where they end up. Following the founding of Ambrosia, the Intergalactic Conciousness Group has decided to put further research into the manipulation of conciousness. One vital way to do so is through uploading it as data upon microchips located in the brain.

These microchips would capture the person's conciousness following their death and would make sure for a safe and secure Ambrosian conciousness transfer. Of course, due to the nature of conciousness and the microchips, a person, mostly Tech Witches, can transfer a backup of their conciousness unto another person. An illegal practice but definitely possible.

Of course this doesn't mean that the destruction of the microchip would mean the actual death of a person, All it really means is that it would be harder to fish out their conciousness in the noosphere, The microchip exists as a primary storage unit of a person's conciousness at their death so that the Ambrosia process is not made difficult. A person is only pronounced dead once their conciousness has been lost in the Noosphere for more than 5 years.

Dedicated conciousness fishers work every day around the planets and systems with either a known case of a destroyed microchip or a site of mass death, such as a former warzone. The payment for them is extraordinarily high, especially with how important the person is, or how fast they need to be found.
