Chapter 1 - Awk Awk Awk

Awk!

Awk!

Awk!

Ugh!

That hideously dark winged bastard just pecked me three times on my forehead with his venomous beak!

Trying to Apply the Mark....

As my face quickly rejuvenated itself, he used mind control as an attempt to strong arm my decision ( Join or Die) through hypnosis, quietly spoken through his wondrous third eye.

I rejected the idea of anything in my forehead as we fell into a dark abyss at a thousand feet per second. I didn't care to have a microchip implanted in my third eye. It'd be a cold day in hell before I agree to such cannibalistic measures!

Catching him off guard, I chopped him in the throat. The chip fell from his beak and into the darkness below.

Where it belonged.

His razor sharp teeth were hideously blackened. His skin reeked of spoiled pickles, a most unnatural smell.

"So, you're the active Queen," he hissed arrogantly, "the traitor that overthrew Armona, the Original Queen Mother forty centuries ago and took her place!"

"And if I wasn't the Queen, then what? Armona is dead! Why bring her up at all? Yesterday's news isn't today's headline. Let...sleeping dogs lie!"

He found it amusing. "Stop with the mind games. Are you the sadistic queen of torture or an amateur? A woman of your stature doesn't strike me as a comedian"

"Wouldn't you like to know, sugar britches."

"Ah!, speaking of sleeping dogs, you are going to lie with them as well, my Queen Mother..."

Before I could respond, a vampiric mouth formed from the beak and he viciously sunk his fangs into my neck like I was a piece of fruit. Paralyzed me...

For a moment...

I'd forgotten who I was...

Abruptly, I grabbed his dirty black hair. My nails sink into his brain and he roared with pain.

I yanked his head back, kissing his lips. He turned into a block of ice...

To my dismay, the laser-inferno in the retina of his unemotional eyes shattered the ice into shards of light...

The force of the blast separated me from his unobtrusive arms...

Blindsided, the Realm Demon looked up at me as he continued to plummet into, and within, the bottomless pit...

"We generate thirty million dollars a year," he continued, as if I gave a damn, "and you art interfering with something that isn't of importance to thou, because you have a treaty with the animals! Why do you sell out on us to save creatures that men have dominion over?"

Yet I still spoke.

"You may have dominion over them," I finally countered, "but that doesn't give you and your organization the right to unfairly slaughter lions and elephants for their manes and tusks!"

Descending a thousand feet per second finally got the best of me.

The heat from our bodies seeped out at an alarming rate, threatening our lives as it searched for oxygen at the surface of the gigantic hole in the middle of the magical staircase of an occultist church I just destroyed...

The further we fell...the more likely we were going to perish.

Determined to survive, I swooped up to him and brutally punched him in his scaly face. His head snapped back and his Adam's apple ripped apart.

I continued, "There is only one King of Kings, and Lord of Lords!"

I covered my mouth. What was I saying?

Since when was I spiritual or religious? I was Alicia Chay, sadistic Queen of torture!

Incredibly huge wings exploded from his back, and he grew in size. He redirected himself, and flew at me with huge balls of fire that slammed into my body...

I didn't break...

I didn't come down here to die.

Awk!

Awk!

Awk!

He pecked, squawked, pecked and squawked. He was trying to cut out my stained eyes. He wanted to rip my heart out because I saw his realm for what it was.

Oh, no!

Awk!

Awk!

Awk!

A great blast blew The Realm Demon upward. His flesh ablaze, he began to cover his face and screech the closer he came to the stained glass light.

Swiftly, I flew after him and circled around him, rising one hundred feet in five seconds.

Without hesitance, I slashed its throat, snatched its eyes from its sockets so it'd never see again and shoved them down its throat with gracious aplomb...

The glowing life force attached to its chest was rammed down his throat as well. Tell me, demon, how does that taste?

Once his huge body entered the stained glass light, he crashed through the stained glass itself, shards of glass embedded themselves in his flesh...

Konoronhkwa.

In the Mohawk dialect "konoronhkwa" meant "I love you."

I could think of I love you! in many other languages if I had that sort of time to engage in a plethora of phrases and fancy spellings bound by culture and separated ethnicity.

In Sinhalese "I love you!" was Mama Oyata Aadarei and in Javanese "I love you!" would have two sides: Kulo tresno marang panjenengan [formal, of course] and aku terno kowe [informal].

To my surprise, and I was not often plagued with that emotion, many ways to love myself swarmed me like famished bees stuck to honey.

Was I dying from starvation as I slept the night away? Should I ignore the call of blood, preventing me from lurking around the pit of hunting games scattered throughout every realm of the wild on earth...

Rach with a different danger...

...In the tender month of November, as the leaves begun to brown and fall, signaling the death of summer, I dreamed of something so poignant and vividly immaculate!

And then, suddenly, it turned into a nightmare!
